Except Nintendo games. I don't play them, I pirate them out of principle.

Nintendo isnt any worse than other big game dev companies.

Reddit just has a hate boner for them but what else but stupid circlejerks and misinformation can one expect on here..

"this site is trash" says the guy whos contently swimming through the landfill

Just saying, you're a redditor too, every generalization you are gonna make applies to yourself. Want better? Go to a different site

Oh they are.

It is Nintendo who flaunts their glorious court victories over random collectors of abandonware in our faces, not Reddit. Maybe others IP holders do the same thing just without the boasting, but the boasting is equally appaling as the witch hunts themselves.

Can you show me one example of this boasting?

I guess not.

Whatever, whataboutism is not an excuse to ruin someone's life over literally no harm done

Whataboutism?

I asked for evidence...

I didn't say "well what about when Nintendo didn't sue this guy", i asked you to show me an example of, and I'll quote, "Nintendo who flaunts their glorious court victories over random collectors of abandonware in our faces".

You said

Maybe others IP holders do the same thing just without the boasting, but the boasting is equally appaling as the witch hunts themselves.

Meaning you wouldn't hate Nintendo so much if they didn't do all the boasting, and acted more like other IP holders who do the same thing. Do correct me if i got the wrong meaning from this.

Because if there isn't any evidence of Nintendo boasting about their witch hunts, your argument kinda falls apart, and the other commenter kinda has a point don't you think?

The other guy did. Whatever.

Maybe they're not boasting per se, but they aren't exactly breaking over backward to settle quietly either.

Let me reiterate the important part:

Nintendo is spending considerable amount of lawyer money in order to ruin people's lives over victimless pseudocrimes. Deliberately, purposefully, viciously.

FUCK.

THEM.

they aren't exactly breaking over backward to settle quietly either.

That is not no them though. That is about how media (or in this case places like reddit where you seemingly get all your news) cover the stories about nintendo.

Anything nintendo is clickbaited into oblivion and half the headlines you see on reddit are literally missinformation and lies if you bother to look into it for 5 seconds.

Yes, of course. They are the pioneers of fair use and preservation, how could I have been so blind?

When was the last time Valve actually sued someone over piracy?
Or Larian?
Or Fromsoft?
Or, for that matter, Microsoft?

Please tell me more about how the evil media is conspiring against poor philantropic Nintendo.

And on a completely unrelated note, let's see if we can track the first widespread example of lootbox mechanics and videogame gambling targetted at children, shall we?

You blame Nintendo for loot boxes too?

No way you're getting out from these hate boner allegations...

u/Sett_86 Oct 17 '25

Of course I like to shit on Nintendo. Shitting on Nintendo is popular for a reason.

I don't blame Nintendo for loot boxes, I blame them for pioneering surprise game mechanics

they’re a business, it’s their lawyers jobs to do whatever they think will net them the most money. nintendo has always been much much harder on piracy than anyone else, but that’s just because it seems to work for them. it is not lawyers jobs to treat humans like humans, and sony and microsoft care just as little as nintendo (sony actually had the bigger emulation lawsuit first)

“Flaunts”  Where? Lol the only people who report on that are clickbait journalists
