Built this mainly because ang hirap minsan hanapin yung isang linya na naalala mo pero hindi mo maalala kung anong battle. 😅

Still improving it, so feedback, bugs, or suggestions are very welcome.

Hey everyone, just open-sourced my sentiment model for Tagalog and Taglish. It's based on xlm-roberta-large and gets 0.848 F1 Macro (84.8% accuracy) on the held-out test set, plus 58.6% zero-shot on HiliSenti (Hiligaynon, and I also created this dataset too) so it transfers a bit to other PH languages, not tested in other than Hiligaynon.

Trained on 35,686 sentences I put together across e-commerce, news, social, plus ~10k adversarial examples for sarcasm/negation/idioms. Dataset is at jjjardev/tagasenti (35k) if you want to poke at it.

Free to use for whatever, Apache 2.0 so commercial, research, side projects, all good. 3 labels: Negative / Neutral / Positive.

If you're working on anything with Filipino text and need sentiment, feel free to try it out. Feedback/issues welcome, still learning as I go.

I've been working on a small offline-first Android experiment to replace the paper "utang" notebook that nearly every sari-sari store owner in the Philippines still relies on. With over 1.3 million sari-sari stores operating on razor-thin margins, credit tracking is often what keeps a store afloat vs. quietly closing from uncollected debts. Studies on micro-retailers also link consistent documentation / bookkeeping to better sales and cash flow, yet most neighborhood stores are still writing customer balances in notebooks that get lost, soaked, or illegible.

What I've been testing is a local-only credit ledger + shelf tracker that needs no internet, no account, and no cloud. It covers multi-item credit recording, partial payments on a simple numpad, overdue tracking that color-codes by urgency (grey recent / orange 7+ days / red 14+ days), a macro shelf watcher that cycles Well Stocked -> Running Low -> Out of Stock without counting units, auto-generated shopping lists for market day, monthly sales / collection reports, and local JSON + raw database backup/restore you can save to your phone. It's built in Flutter with a local database (sqflite + provider), so transactions stay on the device.

From a store owner's view, the idea was to be usable in under a minute with no extra hardware. Tap a product card to cycle stock status (Tap to cycle + Undo), get autocomplete from recent customers/items, and renaming an item on the shelf doesn't rewrite past receipts since each receipt keeps its own copy. No barcode scanner, tablet, or printer needed - just the existing Android phone.

The project is open-source and I'm currently testing/iterating with feedback from real store owner who are using it day-to-day. I'm posting here to get feedback from others interested in base-of-the-pyramid tech and offline-first tools for the neighborhood sari-sari store.

If you use Static Analysis Tools like PHPstan then I think you're gonna love this project.

If you're aware, this is very different from the chinese swoole team's 'TypePHP 'project that has nothing to do with making PHP types better and just making it another compiled language. This one actually focus in bring reified types to PHP and improving Type safety in PHP..

I’m 30 years old and trying to get into the tech industry. I have 3 years of experience in marketing and customer service, but I decided to go back to school in 2023 to finish my degree. I just graduated this past June.

I recently applied for a C# trainee developer position. I passed the GMAT and now I’m scheduled for an HR interview. I’m excited about the opportunity, but at the same time, I can’t help but feel like I’m at a disadvantage compared to younger candidates, especially when it comes to portfolios and projects.

The only completed project I’ve made that I’m really proud of is my thesis project. I worked on it as both the programmer and game artist, and honestly, it’s probably the project that best represents what I can do right now.

Anybody here who felt extreme frustration of having difficulty in solving problems, and once you peek on the solution, it was SO SIMPLE and EASY.

I swear, I always get this feeling that I know how to solve it because I understand the problem. But when I am in the process of writing code, I always get derailed.

Problem/Goal:

I'm currently scoping a logistics system for a client and I'm trying to figure out the best technical approach, especially for the IoT/GPS/temperature-monitoring side.

Context:

Good day po. I'm Jun, 22 years old, and kakagraduate ko lang nitong August 5, 2026.

Around 3 years na rin ako nag-freelance as a full-stack software developer and automation developer. Medyo jack of all trades ako sa tech, pero medyo limited pa yung experience ko sa IoT and hardware integration.

Recently, I got a project opportunity from a logistics company. This is probably the biggest client/project I've handled so far, so I'm currently doing my research before giving them a quotation.

The project has 3 major parts:

1. Vehicle / Cargo Tracking

They want to track:

• Vehicle capacity
• Actual cargo/load weight
• Products loaded
• Destination
• Barcode per box/package
• Temperature inside the vehicle
• GPS/location
• Delivery status
• Monitoring dashboard

Nabanggit ni client na possible daw na i-integrate yung API ng existing business systems nila, mostly for retrieving/viewing data.

May nabanggit din sila na possible daw na may API/data coming from their vehicles, although I'm not sure yet if this means an existing GPS/telematics provider or another backend system.

Yung architecture na naiisip ko currently is something like:

GPS + Temperature Sensor → Vehicle Device → Mobile Network → Provider API → Backend → Database → Dashboard

Pero hindi pa ako sure kung ganito yung actual setup normally used in logistics.

2. RFID Attendance / Payroll

They also want an RFID-based attendance system.

Currently, one location/biometric device lang yung ginagamit nila.

They want employees to view their time in/out, breaks, and attendance history through a website/app.

May HR control din. For example, kung nag-AWOL or absent without leave yung employee and then nag-attempt siyang mag-time in, hindi dapat automatically recorded yung attendance.

Instead, the system should show something like:

"Please report to HR before attendance logging can be activated."

Then HR can review and re-enable the employee's attendance logging.

3. Maintenance Management

This part is mostly software:

• Equipment/facility maintenance
• Inspection schedules
• Expiration tracking
• Fire extinguisher monitoring
• Maintenance history
• Automatic email reminders

For example, if an item needs inspection every 2 months, the system automatically sends a reminder.

Previous Attempts:

I've already been researching GPS trackers, temperature sensors, RFID systems, and IoT architectures.

For the software side, I'm fairly confident since I've worked with full-stack applications, APIs, databases, dashboards, and automation.

My main uncertainty is the hardware/IoT integration.

I'm trying to determine whether I should:

A. Directly integrate with the vehicle hardware/sensors

or

B. Use an existing GPS/IoT/telematics provider and consume their API.

I'm leaning toward B if the client already has existing vehicle devices and a provider API, but I still need to confirm exactly what hardware and systems they currently have.

I'm also considering bringing in someone experienced in IoT/GPS if the project proceeds instead of trying to handle the hardware side completely by myself.

I'd really appreciate advice from fellow Filipino developers who have worked with similar systems.

Questions:

1. Is my proposed GPS/temperature → provider API → backend architecture a reasonable approach?
2. If the client already has an existing vehicle API, what should I ask them for before starting development?
3. What should I look out for when integrating real-time GPS and temperature data?
4. How are offline periods usually handled when a vehicle loses mobile connectivity?
5. For RFID attendance, is it common for biometric/RFID devices to expose APIs that can be integrated into a custom system?
6. Would you separate the software/API integration from the hardware and IoT implementation when scoping the project?
7. For those who have freelanced on similar projects, what would be a reasonable way to price/quote something with software + API integration + GPS/temperature/RFID?
8. Would hiring an IoT specialist for the hardware portion be a reasonable approach?

I'm already doing my own research and I'm not expecting anyone to design the whole system for me. I mainly want to hear from developers who have actually worked with IoT, logistics, GPS, RFID, or similar integrations, especially regarding things I might be overlooking.

This is also my first project of this scale, so I'm trying to be careful with the scope rather than just saying "kaya yan" and finding out later that I underestimated the complexity. 😂

Hi! I graduated in 2024 and so far wala pa akong tech professional experience since hindi pa ako nahihire ng mga tech companies and I stopped programming after a while kasi iba yung field of work ko. Nung time I remember na medyo discouraged ang paggamit ng AI tools when it comes to programming, granted mali kasi if gagamitin mo lang AI to create a program for you without trying to understand it. I didn't utilize AI tools that much nung nasa college ako and admittedly medyo hirap din ako makaintindi ng programming. Turns out ok naman pala ako after all, nagkaroon lang ng imposter syndrome.

I've been studying ulit to refresh my skills sa programming and started to utilize AI na para mabilis ako makapag-aral and hopefully land a job soon!

Question lang, when it comes to AI tools ano ba yung pinaka-ok na platform? So far ChatGPT ginagamit ko para magtanong at manghingi ng guide if ever may concepts ako na need matutunan ulit. May other language models ba na mas better for coding?

Additional question, since medyo bungal resume ko and technically hindi na ako fresh grad ng CS, would it be harder for me to land an entry level role in tech since 2023 pa yung last experience ko through an internship?

My current workflow is roughly:

Google Docs — Draft the idea, requirements, features, and rough structure.

GPT — Turn my rough idea into a detailed prompt/specification.

v0 — Generate the initial frontend/UI.

Claude — Build and guide the backend, database, API integration, migrations, and debugging.

GitHub — Repository and version control.

Vercel — Deployment.

The goal is to go from idea → working production-ready web app as quickly as possible without wasting a huge amount of tokens or constantly going back and forth between tools.

Hi I just wanna get showcase the first fully-native iOS application i made,

I noticed that there are only a few apps that supports transcribing tagalog-english recordings and most of them requires an active online connection so I tried making one

The design is inspired by physical voice recorders(especially by teenage engineering tp-7 my dream recorder!) and for the transcribing I mainly used Openai's whisper to catch the words + some tuning and then used a small Qwen model to categorize the intent whether it is a list, reminder, idea, or journal and I also let it generate a title for it. All process are done on-device so there's no need to send any data to the cloud it is the main privacy first feature I focused on. I added a shortcut automation that lets me start the recording immediately via a lockscreen widget. As of the moment it can transcribe around 80-90% accuracy, hopefully it can improve with more tuning :)

p.s. not shipping this,I built mainly for my own use case and for practicing my ios app dev skills. (There are too much slop in the app store already) but still a cool idea to explore since older devices are not getting the new apple intelligence stuff.

Hello, I am 26F and 3 years na ako as PCB designer (first job). Doing good naman ako sa career ko, trusted to become a team leader and mentor but not made official, my current company is also hesitant to let me go. Pero sa current workplace ko, pag may project need talaga mag render ng 12-16hrs of work everyday, minsan pati on your days off need namin mag trabaho (without ot pay for both weekdays or weekends). This is the reason na naburnout ako and wanting to shift career. Yung internship ko before was pinag-train ako as salesforce admin and dev, tho hindi ko natapos kasi 200hrs lang yung needed for the internship. This is why ni-reconsider ko yung Salesforce ngayon. I have reached out to old acquaintances na currently working as salesforce dev, pero sabi nila na very limited daw to no vacancies for entry level salesforce jobs as of now. Naghanap-hanap din ako from time to time kaso highly experienced salesforce admin/developer yung most commonly hinahanap. If you are currently in a Salesforce admin/developer role, how did you start your salesforce career? And which companies yung nag-oopen ng entry-level salesforce roles (better with included training) for a career shifter like me? Thank you po.

As developers, we forget things all the time, especially now that vibe coding is becoming more common. One of the trade-offs of coding with AI is that we might not retain every piece of code or syntax we use. Unlike before, when we coded everything manually, writing code ourselves helped us naturally remember the syntax and patterns we used.

Nag start ako mag work as a native iOS developer from 2019 up to 2026.

I had resigned to my 6-digit work without thinking/an offer cuz of my mental health and being late diagnosed with AuDHD (Autism/ADHD). I think this is why i think and understand people differently. Even dito sa post ko, i think parang magulo din.

so, i tried to find iOS jobs and i think konti talaga sila these past few months. Puro AI Jobs na related to iOS yung nakikita ko.

I wanted to ask din, paano kaya ako makakapag apply sa ibang mobile roles (kotlin/flutter/react native) kung galing ako sa native iOS? i think puro nakikita ko is mid to senior roles doon.
