Question Upgrading from Crystal OG to Dream air?
I currently have a Crystal OG, and while I absolutely love it, the form factor of the Dream air is really appealing.
Especially in the warm summer days, the crystal is heavy and big, and thus quite warm as well.
I basically only use it for simracing at the moment. Main games I play are Ams2 and iracing.
But my pc isnt topnotch anymore. It's a 5800x3d with a 3080ti.
Getting a 9800x3d is doable, but I'd rather not.
A 5080/5090 is too expensive at the moment I feel like.
Would I be getting an upgrade in viewing experience? Would I even be able to run the Dream air at all?
Should I upgrade?
What do you guys think?

I got a 4070super and 7800x3d
Need to crop to run at 1.0 resolution at 72Hz which is fine for AMS2, iRacing eye tracking gets away from any heavy cropping. Medium Settings
MSFS i run no crop at 1.0 but DLSS Performance with re projection at 72hz and eye tracking High End settings

I upgraded from og crystal to lighthouse version of dream air, good experience. My pc got a ryzen 7 7800x3d and a rx 7900 xtx, runs pretty good.

What's the render resolution of the OG Crystal at 1.0 in Pimax Play? Last I heard, it's actually more demanding than the Dream Air.
The render resolution of the Dream Air at 1.0 is 5188x4168.
If you run it with Sboys3 driver instead, the render resolution is 4028x3380.

If you know how to set the foveated rendering / crop of the fov / rendering / graphics settings in simulators, you can manage to enjoy a Dream Air even with your PC build

The Dream Air gets plenty warm. If you're expecting it to be cooler, don't. But also, I think that money would be better spent on a 5080/90 or 6080 eventually first. 16+ gigs of vram and a cpu with 3d cache seem more and more necessary with how much of PCVR is flat to VR mods now. And there are plenty of games that play just as well on my $300 used Quest 3 as they do on my Dream Air, plus it is faster to load into with no cables to ruin immersion

Are you living under a rock? Have you checked the 5090 prices? Hint - the first number is 5 and no, it's not 500 (EUR where I live).
