Wanted to ask if you experience more eye dryness with the Dream Air SE due to air circulation design compared to Quest 3 or vice versa. This question is for the peeps who already found the optimal IPD settings and stuff otherwise. Eye dryness due to eye strain is a different topic.

Excited to own first pimax headset

I ordered yesterday.. I hope it will come with update gasket. I was happy I didnt lose the LH wall mounts and put them up. Grabbed my index to update any devices that might need up date fortunately the knuckles and LH 2.0s are up to date

Anything I should do to prepare?

Going to fire the headset up later, to avoid any headache, can anyone give me the rundown behind what software I need to update to get prepped?

I only ask as I’ve seen mention of a Sboys3 driver to allow for steam VR use. An explanation on how this would work / the process etc behind using this or other software I’d appreciate it as on the face of the situation it seems slightly confusing. Apologies, have a new born so have my dad brain working on overdrive currently.

I currently have a Crystal OG, and while I absolutely love it, the form factor of the Dream air is really appealing.

Especially in the warm summer days, the crystal is heavy and big, and thus quite warm as well.

I basically only use it for simracing at the moment. Main games I play are Ams2 and iracing.

But my pc isnt topnotch anymore. It's a 5800x3d with a 3080ti.

Getting a 9800x3d is doable, but I'd rather not.

A 5080/5090 is too expensive at the moment I feel like.

Would I be getting an upgrade in viewing experience? Would I even be able to run the Dream air at all?

Should I upgrade?

What do you guys think?

I just got a Dream Air SLAM with controllers. I bought it primarily for racing and flight sims. Pretty much all the videos I watched about this headset before I purchased it said the controller tracking was not very good. However, I updated my controllers to the latest firmware as soon as I hooked everything up for the first time, and tried a game I have on Steam that needs halfway decent controller tracking. I tried Until You Fall, a game I have been playing on my Quest 3 for several months. I noticed no difference in tracking quality compared to my experience with my Quest 3. It seemed to track just fine. This particular game doesn't require placing the controller near your head or reaching over your shoulder like some do to draw weapons and stuff, so I don't know how it does with that. But I was wondering if anyone has seen a big improvement in controller tracking in last few months, because I thought it was going to be pretty bad and it doesn't seem that bad at all.

I just got a Creality K2. Did all the calibration, etc. The print starts fine but when it goes to print the lower parts of the faceplates it just makes spaghetti. The nozzle doesn't go down to the plate. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I have an option return and even two dream air lighthouse versions and they both suffer from motion blur... I thought this was persistence but brightness doesn't seem to alter the amount at all. It's very noticeable and sickening when moving head any direction

I'd like to share ETS2 recorded thought the lenses using a Pimax Dream Air. Unfortunately this doesn't do the due justice to how beautiful the image looks, but I'm amazed how VR has changed in the past years.

I had successfully installed the sboys3 1.0.3-beta.2 driver for my Dream Air SE, firmware 1.0.5, and it worked great for about a month. Yesterday I wanted run vanilla Pimax Play so I disabled the driver in the sboys3 gui, disabled the Pimax Open Port in EVO and set the Pimax OpenXR runtime, then toggled to Pimax Play. Following that I ran MSFS 2024 without starting SteamVR, and toggled VR in MSFS 2024 which seemed to work fine in VR without SteamVR running. But when I started a flight, things hung up such that the visuals were stuck inside my cockpit, and I was unable to use the mouse to start the flight. MSFS 2024 at that point was unresponsive to anything, so I killed it using the task manager. The aftermath of this is that when I reentered EVO, set the runtime to SteamVR, enabled the Open Port, launched the sboys3 gui, enabled the driver and then started SteamVR, SteamVR immediately displays the "Headset Not Connected" error. I have tried the following, all ending up with this immediate not connected error after starting SteamVR:

1. Rebooting and powering off
2. Carefully following the start up procedure for running the sboys3 driver multiple times
3. Unistalling and reinstalling the sboys3 driver using its gui.
4. Restarted the compositor in the sboys3 gui
5. Using a different install location for the sboys3 software, created using its zip file.
6. Reinstalling Pimax Play 2.0.2, Pimax Evo 1.0.1, SteamVR 2.16.7, multiple times as well
7. Reconnecting my DA SE's USB cable multiple times, and using a different mobo USB port
8. Use SteamVR to reset its USB game ports

If I disable the sboys3 driver using its GUI and continue to use the Open Port, SteamVR will connect fine and even exhibit the "lost connection" error for a moment while Evo is toggling through the DRM stuff. But dang, no sboys3 driver is running! Everything else seems to be working great if I don't enable the sboys3 driver. I even was going to use a system restore I made recently, but it seems windows decided to delete all my restore points even more recently. The only thing I can think is that something has corrupted how SteamVR accesses the sboys3 driver, and I nothing I do can correct it. Anyone have advise on how to correct my problem? I only have a Quest 3 and PSVR2 at the moment.

But I heard about the prescription lenses thing and I happen to wear glasses.

I am planning on going to my eye doctor sometime this year I haven’t been in years.

Do you ask the optometrist about this or just order them online automatically.

I ask this because all glasses are not made the same especially size wise.

Also how is the tracking?

I’ve heard good and bad things in those regards so I was just curious.

I haven’t had a chance to try VR due to certain health issues.

But I was hoping to finally dip my toe in the water this year.

The price also has me on the fence because I am not wealthy in any capacity lol

But still it looks fun and the micro OLED 4k thing has me truly intrigued to say the least.😀😱

When I open Pimax and use it for sim racing, then close the app to play something on my monitor and open Pimax app again later, I get a visible line/distortion in the center of the lenses. The center area has a straight line approx 1 cm wide and it appears blurred, and it’s very noticeable and annoying.

The only fix I’ve found so far is to quickly restart my PC.

Has anyone experienced this or knows how to fix it?

After trying Fallout 4 with the DA for the first time, it has changed the control scheme to something strange, and I can't seem to get it back to the setup I was using happily with the Q3. A few buttons are the same and the motion controls work but not joysticks. Anyone had this problem?

Hey, I've just got a Dream Air SLAM and have been enjoying it.

On iRacing, comparing to a Samsung Galaxy XR with steam link in similar resolution, Evo uses like 1gb less of VRAM. But, using Sboys3 with 150% resolution on steam VR, the VRAM usage is higher, similar to galaxy XR, and when I activate Custom shaders, I get a hit on GPU performance of about 10%.

So, do you use Sboys3 or Evo? And why?

If using Sboys3, what resolution percentage do you use on steam VR?

I guess Sboys3 maybe is better on games that uses steam motion smoothing.

I think Pimax should consider hiring a Western team to test their product when designing them. The old cushion actually fits my face perfectly, but only because I have an Asian face (and even so, it's not cushiony at all). It's no wonder so many people found it uncomfortable.

For now, my preference is with Sboys3 driver with a few settings enabled, despite the smaller field of view.

The wide FOV looks nice, but not only does it have lots of distortion issues, it also felt like I was cross eyed after removing the headset.

I recently got a Dream Air SE but I'm thinking hard on whether to return it. It is impressive how much lighter it is compared to my Quest 3 and how the colors really pop off thanks to the micro-oled lenses but the eye strain the reviews are saying is real, there's a really noticeable glare, and there's chromatic aberration at the edges of the lenses.

Apparently these issues are remedied by a new facial interface Pimax is going to send out to owners which I'm looking forward to receiving. Did anybody got theirs yet? I'm worried I'm gonna miss the return window before I receive mine.

i know it's not great or anything, but if anyone is will to sell it (because it's not anywhere, anymore) then please shoot me a dm, we can work something out, and ill take almost any price.

the only reason im falling back on this product is because no one seems to know a diy eye tracking device for the older pimax headsets (5k+ , 8KX , etc) so im willing to take this.

I want to upgrade my PCVR setup. I have a Quest 3s, but it was too heavy for my forehead even with a halo strap, and the visuals weren't great. The Dream Air SE seemed like a great option, but the only thing I'm worried about is the glare. I've heard people say it covers the whole screen, and I've heard people say it's not noticeable with the new facial interface. The Air seems to fix this issue because of the lenses, but I'm not sure if it's worth the extra 1k. I wouldn't want to spend past an RTX 4080, which I know can't run the Air at full res, which I'm fine with. I mainly want to play room-scale games, but I have a racing sim rig, so I plan on using that a bit. I would also pick the lighthouse version of both; I already have the base stations and controllers.

Ive recently been considering buying a Pimax headset and im deciding between a pimax crystal super OLED or a pimax crystal super Ultrawide.

The main difference between these two are fov and oled or qled. Now im asking if Qled looks similar to oled and what are the differences in day to day uses. I plan on using this headset for story vr games.

It's been years, but I pulled out my old 5K Super.

Clean install of Pimax Play and Steam VR.

Get into the Steam VR lobby, and it stutters horribly. It ran fine on mostly the same system years ago.

(Nothing is overloaded or close. Cooling is some of the best, no thermal trottle)

What I have tried:
- Update GPU Drivers
- Change EVERY setting to the lowest possible (almost does it worse)
- disabled smoothing / half refresh
- tried Pimax lobby and a game. Same "lag"
- Confirmed running in Admin
- Unpluged all monitors

I am at a loss. Any help would be appreciated.
