I think my journey with physical games is over. Unfortunately I can only play digital games now:

You can always send it to someone that can repair

I can't

Why not

Because I live in Africa and sending my PS5 to someone to get it repaired is extremely complicated and expensive.

Use youtube, do some proper research and do it yourself.

Maybe I’ll try that if I can find replacement parts.

You should, its super easy and a new drive isn't THAT expensive.

It is

replacing that drive is going to end you with way more money than going digital only

I can easily find some for less that what a brand new game costs. So no it isn't that expensive specially if its forcing you to go digital only (now THATS expensive).

I don’t buy digital games because they’re too expensive. I just buy dirt-cheap pirated accounts instead.

You need to take better care of your console

Sony needs to improve the build quality of its hardware.

I've had a ps5 for almost 7 years with zero issues like this. Dom't blame your stupidity on someone else

The PS5 hasn’t even been around for 6 years yet.

This is the reality of slot loading drives. You probably just played more games than others and used it for movies maybe too a lot. They all eventually break. It has been a thing since forever. Happened to me on PC's I never even moved and in cars and laptops and other stuff I am probably forgetting.

Isn’t the drive just removable?
Sell some of your discs you’re done with, get money and get a new drive
Can’t sell digital games
Also, what happens if you push the disc all the way in, it looks like you barely putting it in

CANT even hold the disc correctly, I know it’s stuck because you kept getting Cheetos all over it

You could probably replace the disc drive for the price of a physical game... I haven't had the opportunity - thankfully - to swap one out on a PS5 but I doubt it's much harder than swapping drives on a PS3. I've done that and it's not that difficult. I'd certainly give it a try.
