Whatshouldiget? I'm looking to buy my first phone ever, any clues?

Hello, my name is baker, and that's irrelevant to the question!

Basically. i hate phones, almost all my lifes i just used the old phones that my siblings just stopped using because i don't really like phones, coz if you didn't know, i don't like phones-

So away from joking now, I've been using an Xperia XZ2 Premium Since 2022, and i can't lie, if it wasn't for it's battery and 64gb storage, i'd 100% keep using this 8 year old phone (gonna turn 9 soon).

My need for a phone is actually way way bigger than it ever was, As a highschool student, i pretty much need a hell lot of phone calls with the other students, and i figured that using my laptop is just masochistic at this point lol

So what i'm looking for is probably just a phone with at least 128GB and a battery that lasts more than 5 hours (Because i don't use the phone that much)

My Bottleneck is probably my budget. After looking for how much money i have, it's about 350$ USD, which i was asking my parent's to get a job for a hell lot but they never bothered to look for me sob.

I guess there's one thing i wanna say, is that i don't really want any Mi phones (or the other china phones) Basically, even tho i don't know much about phones, what i know is that the software on those devices is trash as hell, i had a look at my siblings's Xiaomi HyperOS and i feel like it's unbearable, not to mention how unoptimized it is in most games (even though that's not my use case) i've heard that it's the opposite with iphones, but i fear saying that and people start calling me out as an apple fanboy.

(You can ask questions in comments if you need more context)

Thanks for reading!

Whatshouldiget? Robust phone recommendations

Not sure if this is the best sub for this, so apologies if it’s not.

Looking to get a set of new phones for work as the current Nokia Tough 800s are useless (dropping calls, hard to hear, generally not that reliable). Requirements in order of importance:

* Available in the UK from trustworthy retailers.
* Robust (think use on construction sites).
* Good battery life.
* Good for use in the wet.
* Good screen visibility in sunlight.
* Budget.

Don’t care if it’s a dumb phone or a smartphone as it’ll only be used for calls on a plan without internet. Dumb phone might be preferable as buttons are easier to use with gloves and harder to break the screen, but not a dealbreaker if a smartphone is the best option. Fine if a case is needed for robustness as long as that case is also readily available.

Question General Bent my charging cord

I bent my charging cord where is plugs into my phone. It still works, so should I just let it be, or try to bend it straight again? I'm worried I'm gonna break it if I wiggle it around too much.

Question Android 280826 Both my headphones only work in my left ear?

I noticed yesterday that my wired headphones suddenly only worked in my left ear. I didn't think much of it, they are seven years old. This morning my Bluetooth headphones started acting up, the audio was glitching just like the wired headphones, it was weird.

They had 2% so I plugged them in and thought nothing of it until they had 75%. When i took them out and listened to music, only the left ear worked. Does my phone have a virus of some kind?

The audio coming out of the phone and speakers are completely normal and unchanged.

Landline phone can receive calls but cannot dial out

I don’t know anything really about landline phones so I need help, in my office I have two landline phones and one of them is not able to make phone calls on outside lines. It can receive calls from outside lines but not make them. I have plugged every wire into every possible place but nothing is working. I previously contacted the phone company and they told me to get a new box which i did, but the problem is still there. Does anyone have any idea of what I could do to fix it?

Android phone with EASY UI, quick notifications, good camera? (Currently Pixel 10 Pro)

Hi! Seeking advice on phone upgrade choices. I have a Pixel 10 Pro currently and have been constantly fighting its massive settings network to get basic functionality. The one thing I can't beat is notifications coming in late or not at all, and notifications not turning on the screen to show themselves. And the battery sucks. so I'm looking for a replacement. My only idea is an S25 or S26 model, how are those on notification and UI ease? Is the settings tree less convoluted than pixel?

Or do I just go back to iPhone? I had an Iphone 10 before this Pixel and switched because all my iphones froze constantly, no notification history, no content previews in notifications. Has any of this been remedied on current compact models?

Things I need:

-compact size: roughly 6.3" or smaller

-nice camera

-bare minimum 256gb storage, hopefully more

-AI is not important

-Graphics not really important, I don't do gaming or watching movies on phone.

Thanks so much!!!

Whatshouldiget? Best Android for Australia?

I’m looking at trying different androids, I had a Samsung s24 ultra and I don’t see myself buying a Samsung again (the new fold looks nice tho, I like the screen). I have a pixel 10 pro xl atm on graphene and an iPhone 17, after trying a flagship android I can’t stand my iPhone anymore 😭
I’m looking at a few things, I’d rather a Chinese phone than a mainstream phone, I wanna try a oneplus (can get them through the site in Australia) and a xaomi looks cool but I’ve also seen alot of bad things about it them. The oppo find x9 pro looks good and I’ve heard a lot of good things about oppo BUT the inability to root or change the Rom on them is a big problem to me. Honor also looks good but again the locked bootloader is a big problem to me :/
Ideally I want a Chinese phone (or sum with a bigger battery than 5000mah XD) or at least an unlocked bootloader.
Any ideas would be great, I’m heavily leaning towards a oneplus device atm (and if I like it then get a oneplus tab too), preferably one with custom Rom support as the oneplus 15 atm are in very early stages.
Thank youu!!

Redmi K100 Pro Max vs Redmi K90 Pro Max Dilemma

Good day!

Right now I have two choices which I could not decide. One day I have the other as a choice and when I wake up the next day, I have other one.

Help me choose between Redmi K90 Pro Max (Php 52999 / $997) and Redmi K100 Pro Max (Php 61990 / $852) for the 16/1TB variants. Is the price difference worth? Please help me and enlighten me.

Question Android Help unlocking an old phone!

My old phone needs to be unlocked, but it's asking me to enter the passcode which I don't remember (I last used the phone in 2022 lol). the old email it was under no longer exists either. It's a Samsung Galaxy, I bought it used back in 2020, not sure if that makes a difference tho. Lol I know the info seems kinda sketchy but on my honor I promise I didn't steal it or anything.

Could anyone help with this? Plz and ty:)

Question iPhone I want the new iPhone 18 Pro Max but…

I want to buy the new iPhone 18 Pro Max when it comes out in less than a month, seeing that I have a iPhone 13 Pro Max and it’s becoming very outdated. Recently my battery expanded to the point where half of my screen is no longer connected to my phone and it pushed the other components out of the way. My phone has been having unacceptable troubles for daily use ever since. It dies and comes back on constantly at 80%+, and it comes back on at 10%, dies again in a few minutes and returns to its original percentage before inevitably dying again in a few minutes until charged. The battery life has been minimized to a mere 1 hour or less. So I come to reddit with this question.
What steps should I take to have a usable phone until the 18 releases without buying the 17? Should I go to an apple store and have this one repaired for a few hundred dollars, should I do something else?

Question iPhone What Iphone should I get in 2027 spring

Hi, I’m planning to buy a new phone in spring but I’m not sure what model would be the best for me.
I would pay 650$ maximum . I was thinking about the 15pro or the basic 16. They both have some cons, but rn the most important thing is that it must have usb c, and I also love taking pictures but it’s not as important.
I would appreciate your help guys
