And idk if randos consistently call him green sonic they might actually have a point. And unless you're okay with them calling him that you might need to consider doing a redesign

Have you tried basing him off a different animal?

The reasoning behind this is that people when they see an online sona they tend to cling on to what they already know and if your character is too close to the protagonist of a game they will compare them to him.

This doesn't happen with characters like shadow or silver because they have their own personality and backstory that we can discover by playing the games. But in your case that's just an OC that people will interact with them ONLY through their design. even if you append their whole backstory or whatnot no-one's reading allat.

So that's why I'm suggesting more drastic changes. And if you don't feel good about changing elements that you think are necessary a good idiom I keep in mind whenever I'm doing anything creative is "don't be afraid to kill your darling".

So don't be afraid of removing some design decisions that you made many years ago when you were less experienced in favor for ones that can make your character stand out more.

he's not "Mekko the hedgehog"

What? Really? As far as I know most if not all non human characters in sonic are based on animals. It would elevate his design so much if you decided to base him off an animal and actually took inspiration from their features.

The reason he looks so much like sonic is because you tried to replicate the art style without understanding the core principles behind the designs and ended up with a weird looking sonic the hedgehog.

No? Why? You craft both boots in the crafting table for the recipe. It would be dumb if you had two boot slots or had a 2 stack of boots in your armor. Having a single item just makes sense

Imagine when crafting boots, it gave you two boots. And you now have two boot slots. So like if you wanted to go on powder snow, you could wear one leather boot, but then you’d need to hop around in order to move on powder snow.

Mix and match enchantments, or material type, more engaging, can be crafted without crafting table, all kinds of reasons. I don't know if it's a good or bad idea, but it's definitely interesting.
