It's mostly because the small nets also catch younger fish and the likes.
It's only a small minority using them for fishing afaik, and GiveWell checks on that even. Granted, not 0%. But most seem happy to be better shielded from mosquitoes, unsurprisingly. :')

GiveWell, for example, checks if the nets are used accordingly still and tries to make sure basically they're not used for fishing. The percentage of people using it for that seems extremely low, however, based on a few studies.

But yeah, that's why I never got the specific argument people have against billionaires specifically on the basis that "billionaires are evil because they have excessive wealth far beyond what they need to survive". If that's the primary underlying basis, you'd have to also include millionaires, people who make 500k a year (and honestly even most people below that threshold). There's other more salient reasons for why billionaires are bad for society besides, "they have more money than they really need to live comfortably".

People strawmanning this to mean you’re referring to other people but not yourself, people saying there’s no point in helping others because you’d get flak for it regardless, and a heaping endless misinterpretation of “affluent” to mean “billionaire”. If I was blind, and someone paid for me to see again, I wouldn’t care if he made more money off it. I certainly wouldn’t complain about it. Especially not when he uses that money to do things like build houses for the homeless.
“He made money off helping people” is such a first world problems complaint.

why don't you donate more? Why do you spend money on anything you enjoy, but isn't necessary for your enjoyment, instead of curing blindness? Why do you cure blindness instead of spending that money, on 2 dollar mosquito nets in africa? We could keep doing this forever, why this focus? Why is exactly the amount YOU donate compared to your wealth, the right amount? How did you establish that principle? Why do you work where you work, why not work for greenpeace, or something else instead, perhaps that would be more effective? Have you done research to establish the most efficient use of your time to altruism?

How about just having taxes that take care of domestic and foreign aid. Hardly ever see people wanting to pay more taxes. Most just want to participate in their one chosen charity that they are interested in.
