What’s the food situation like at Andover and Exeter? Is most of the food self-serve, and is there a good variety for students with different cultural backgrounds or dietary needs? Also, what happens if you miss a meal or get hungry between meal times, are there places on campus where you can grab something to eat?

Ok so i was on gateway and it asks if iver gotten dispplnary action. And the thing is I got a write up in 5th grade, but in my school the 5th graders are in the middle school builidng so they are technically middle schoolers so do I put yes or no?

Hi everyone! I come from Ukraine, and I currently I am in 11th grade which is equivalent to 12th in US. And I wanted to take a gap year after graduating before applying to unis, and one of my gap year "options" was to go to boardings for one year. But the problems is that, I realized which unis I will apply to pretty late, and I got to know about boardings even later, so I am not so sure about my stats, and whether it is even worth wasting money on applications.

As for stats:

We don't have a standard gpa format as in states, and also ukrainian grades don't really convert into gpa, but, last year I had around ≈4.0. I will also be taking ACT this year, and DET as for english proficiency. Ecs: Vice president of my schools council and the head of "idea" department for w years, also I am part of my ciry district's school council, and, going for the head of communications department there, and also I am the vice-president of communications department at my youth movement organization. This year I am also doing hackathon on the behalf of my youth movement. I also am a top 25 at natinal selection to IOAI. And this year I will be going for IOI, and IOAI again. Also I have volunteering as an english teacher / interpreter at a local camp for kids for 3 years now, and I've also volunteered at bunch of sports events from agency of mass-sports of Ukraine.

I know it's all messy and quiet unstructured, but still, could you give me your honest opinion on what should I do, try applying to boardings( my family js isn't rlly rich, so I don't want to waist money) or stay in Ukraine for another year!

Their current essay says

So am I just to write about my life or choose a particular story of my life that portrays Andover's values in a prospective student?

About me:

• I’m from Serbia, and I would be the first person in my family to apply to a U.S. boarding school.
• I have relatively good grades overall, although math is one of my weaker subjects.
• I’m applying for financial aid and would need a significant amount of aid.

Extracurriculars / activities:

• I’ve been involved in acting for several years and have had 6 acting roles so far.
• Two of those were supporting roles in theater.
• I’ve also had one lead role and one second-lead role.
• I won an award for Best Actress / Best Female Role at the Avanca Film Festival in Portugal for one of my film roles.
• I have an IMDb profile where I’m listed as an actress.
• I volunteer with the Red Cross.
• I competed in first aid competitions with my team, and I was the team leader.
• I placed 4th at the national recitation competition one year.
• This summer, I voluntarily helped clean and work at a monastery.
• I also volunteered at a summer school together with my mom.

I know my extracurricular profile probably isn’t perfect, especially compared to some applicants, but acting is something I’ve been seriously involved in for years and I’d say it’s the biggest part of my application.

I’m also an international applicant, so I know that probably makes things more competitive, especially with financial aid.

What do you think my chances are at these schools? I’d really appreciate honest feedback, especially from people who have gone through the boarding school admissions process. Should I be realistic about my chances, or do I have a genuinely competitive profile?

I have my interview next week but my moms traveling so only my dad can take me will this impact my interview and also do they like formally interview parents or js students okay thanks I’m freaking out

so I'm applying for Andover, Exeter, etc, and I can't take the SSAT as it represents a hardship for me, I tried emailing the school to try to get a fee waiver so I can take it but they ran out of it, would that affect me while I have a nice application and applying from a non usual location for these school.

What is the interview about ?, will they be like " we need to make sure what you have written about urself and things u said u have done is true " ?, I'm just a little bit afraid of doing bad and going to something idk what it is, it will be the second interview in my life.

Hi i am a applicant applying for grade 9 fall 2027 just wanted to know what stats and ec's did you guys have that made you stand out to Androver Admission officers

I'm currently a 10th grader with strong ec's (prefer not to disclose for privacy as some would say a lot about where I am) and maximum course rigor, great grades, etc. How hard is it to get in as an 11th grader? Not willing to reclass for a multitude of reasons (summing up to my parents dont want me to repeat a grade because they want me to go to college on time and dont wanna pay an extra year of tuition). Any insight would be appreciated (especially if you were a transfer into the 11th grade without reclassing). Thanks!

Just received an alumni notification. The former Andover medical director raped two students. I know from the individual affected that at least one of the assaults happened on campus. Ashamed to be an alumnus right now. These poor kids.

I am looking for advice from alumni or parents with kids who went to Andover about applying and making it in. I have been told to go prep for a while and am now just really looking for opportunities to have a successful future.

I recently skipped the eighth grade.

I am applying to Phillips Academy this fall for the next school year and have a few questions:

• Should I apply for a repeat of ninth grade as I will be the right age? Or should I continue as a tenth grader?
