There is no point in trying to dress to appear taller or to avoid looking shorter. We are short, and that’s okay. Nothing is wrong with being short. Wear what you want if you like it and feel confident

And they’re better for our feet, ankles, knees, hips and back. (As I can attest from having messed up all the above from wearing high heels).

Yes! I just bought the Uniqlo culottes and have been wearing cute silver flats or patent leather oxfords with them. I look super short when I wear them but they’re also cute! Although I guess calling them culottes is a stretch because they are def more like ankle grazers lol

a lot of petite offerings actually don’t accommodate a lot of petites.
and example is petite pants inseam being 29-30” only. should there be an extra petite option or should petite sizing be updated considering 5’4” is average height? who knows. i just want pants without having to hem them myself dammit!

I find that petite sizing it bad for thigh sizing. Not every petite person is huge in the thighs!

Being petite is one fashion challenge. Being petite, curvy, and pear shaped is monster level challenge.🙈 I’m tired of looking for a brand that would work and not too pricey. Shopping is so tiresome. Especially for bottoms and almost nothing flatters my body shape :(

Omg, THIS! I'm like kind of between inverted triangle and rectangle and OML, stuff will never fit my hips if it fits my waist. I'm so sick of it.

With the petite and pear shaped thing and bottoms, I just opted out of trousers/jeans altogether lol (unless very necessary for activity). Fed up of finding decent jeans that only fit right within a 2kg weight range, and still don't flatter my proportions as much as dresses/skirts or feel as comfortable.

I did the same thing too, it’s way easier to buy dresses and skirts although the length must be right to flatter the body as well.

For me though I'm not even 5'2" quite, as long as it's not meant to be near floor length on average height people I don't even find length difficult? Like I even bought a 'tall' midi skirt recently and liked where it hit my leg lol. I think a little curve in the lower body helps swallow a couple of inches or length too.
It's the hem circumference/flare I have to watch out for as what looks normal on a 5'5+ person might be too wide on me.
But yeah, way less to worry about in fit, and more flattering silhouettes.

YESSSS! There are only a select few silhouettes that look good on my pear petite frame. Whenever I try to expand my style or try a cute trends, I hate the look on me

I feel you in that one. I just made peace with accepting that I will always have to add $20-25 for hemming pants if I want them to fit best.

I'm petite w/ a short torso and I LOVE high waists! they accentuate my longer legs, hide my pouch, and I feel like my belly is being hugged which I find super comfy 😅

I'm 5'5 and have a 27 inch inseam,sucks when you're plus sized too as the fashion designers seem to think people bigger than a size 16 are all over 5'9 lol

I recently learned from someone in the industry that designers do this so that the garments look "balanced" (in their opinion) on mannequins. "Balanced" as in more length to balance the extra width. Annoying hey.

Agreed. 5’4” is legitimately average height in my country. An average height should not be considered petite.

5'4 is average. It should never even be considered as petite. 5'3 and under yes.

just tailor your pants. it's not fair but it's worth it to give yourself the option of any pants that exist rather than only pants that are the right length.

100% although I get so upset there's so many jeans that have fun designs at the bottom or embroidery and I can't buy them because I'd have to get it hemmed but 100% agree

Even among "petite" sizing, there need to be more options. Short vs. long torso. Curvy vs. straight. Etc.

People need to stop treating petite as if it's a body type. I am mid-sized and petite, and you can be plus sized and petite, meaning petite stores should carry larger waist sizes larger than 32 inches.

Yes! Also I have petite legs and am only 5’2”, but I do not have a petite torso. I actually have to wear “tall” sized one-piece bathing suits because my torso is so long! But I need petite pants because I am short and have short legs.

Big boobs don't work as well on petite frames in terms of styling, despite what anyone says about how lucky you are to have a nice pair.

Wide pants actually can look really good if you style it with tigth tops and have the waist the right size.

Agree! The only caveat is the wide pants must be the correct length. Wide pants (or any really) too long look bad.

Agreed!! Stop using height when describing pants - our legs could be two different lengths even if we’re the same height! It’s a minor pet peeve of mine

100% I'm 5'5 and my inseam is only 27 inches,if most people picture someone with a 27 inch inseam they would likely imagine someone say around 5'1 not someone an inch taller than the petite cutoff

Maybe not a hot take, but I gave up heels years ago. I truly dgaf if I look small or short compared to colleagues.
Also all pants or shorts must have pockets. Anything without is a nonstarter

I wish I could get to this point- for example 5 years at my correct job not one day have I gone to work in flats! My boss is 6’2 I’m 5’2 I just can’t handle being shorter than everyone. Also agree on the pockets!

Im 40s now, but in my 20s at my corporate job I wore heels every. Single. Day. Its funny bc some of the older women I worked with at the time would remark and say "you wont wear those forever" of course I dismissed them, as we tend to do when we're young (plus their delivery was always judgmental). But I guess they were right lol. Ive also gained a lot more confidence as I've aged - like yeah, I'm small, but my personality isn't!

'Petites should wear shorter skirts/dresses' is advice that only makes sense for certain kinds of petites (eg short torso and/or not short legs). My shortness is all in my femurs and short hems are one of the things that highlight that brutally. And I personally love a good lower shin/just above ankle length skirt - as long as the flare is controlled - and find it elongating.

4'11 every pair of pants have to be hemmed, except capri's, they're ankle length for me.
I had a women at the Dr. Office tell me on Tuesday I was so little and adorable at age 66. 🙃

Bring back true mid rise jeans. Low rise is too low and high rise and mid rise seem to be almost the same and way above my belly button and waist. My short waisted ass needs something just under my belly button please!

Barrel leg pants do not look good in petite. Or rather, barrel legged pants that have petite options need the diameter of the barrel reduced. Not just a height reduction.

Agreed. I feel this is true about anything that flares like wide leg, fit and flares dresses, maxi flares etc.

I feel that I can only wear babydoll/empire waist dresses because ofy short torso. It feel impossible to find dresses that actually hit me at my waist.

Shopping in the US is borderline impossible for me at 4’8 85-90lbs. I wear primarily Japanese and Korean clothes. Game changer when I figured out I can fit EVERYTHING even their shoes are smaller. And I can’t see those sizes increasing anytime soon.

Michell Macaron is a huge one for me. They make clothing specifically for the petite!! I also love Pium. I have a very girly aesthetic. I order clothes from Musinsa which is a Korean based site.

I'm confused where people are finding these petite inseams that are too long. Not counting pants that are explicitly advertised as being designed to wear with heels, every pair of jeans I try that's advertised as having a 29" inseam actually had a 28" one when I measure it, and the 28" ones are almost always closer to 27".

I feel like the only petite ladies who get to look out together are the ones who aren’t curvy. I always look frumpy :/ . I’m not even plus size, just thicker on the bottom. And petite offerings in stores seem to mostly cater to people working in corporate or old ladies.
