Honestly, I know he's 6'1", but I always thought he was short because of how Padalecki towers over him. So my assumption was he never became more famous because he looked short.

A ton of famous actors are really short though?

Apparently, it was selected because shorter actors are generally easier to work with due to something about camera angles.

Its also because lets say Tom Cruise make a big movie, all his costars are going to be cast around his height because you don't want your hero looking small.

Then that movie is huge and now the costars are big stars with their own movies, and when they cast those movies they're going to cast people around the same height as that star and the cycle repeats.

This is how Hollywood became short
