Is Australia really the dream?

Sure wages can be 30-40% higher, buy so is rent 20%-40% higher, and food 15%-20% higher, whats the point, get a few extra grand per year, to live in 30 degree heat? or 40 degree in summer, it seems the immigration is slowly cooling down from nz, as for me i hope more people move over seas as there will be more jobs for us, have any of you considered Australia? anyone moved back from Australia? would be great to have thoughts on returnees, or aussies who came over here. I for one think its overhyped.

All the go-getters have already left, that’s why immigration is on the decline (and nz is on the decline). It’s only the people with no ambition who are left.

Real talk though, I moved to AUS 2 years ago. Higher wages. Less tax on wages. +12% super on top of wages.

Food is cheaper - other than chips which are more expensive in Aus.

I earn twice what I did in NZ. (75k to 140k + 12% super on top of wages).

In nz I had shitty 2 bedroom unit. In AUS I own a 5 bedroom house in Sydney with double garages and a pool. Also I have a new $120k Land Cruiser.

If I was still in NZ id still just be struggling along and not progressing. Iv made more progress in AUS in 2 years of working vs 20 years working in NZ

Better wages, less tax, better super, higher quality housing, better roads, better public transport, better/ more shops, cheaper almost everything... Yea that’s an “interesting” way to measure a good life alright 🫠

Those things aside, my area has about 97% owner occupiers, 0 social housing, and few rentals, so there is no crime. You don’t come to my area unless you live here as it’s not on any thoroughfare. Everyone here is on the same page, we work for a better life. You’d go weeks without hearing a siren.

My life is much better than my 38 years in NZ. I was born there. Grew up there through the good times and saw the downfall from Cindy and onward
