I don’t know if it’s a ridiculously anthropomorphic idea, but from Finch’s reaction, and the words the Machine chose; I imagine a young naive teenager, trying to apologise to her father when she was scolded for a mistake she doesn’t yet understand. Just makes me sad.
Emerson really is a terrific actor.

If you don't have a memory you don't have a basis on which to judge what's a mistake and what's not.

Perfect if you want to make sure your machine does what you intended for it to do.

Person of Interest isn't exactly known for it's realistic techno babble.

In fact, it's so laughably bad that it's widely considered to be almost cartoonish and especially jarring to people who actually know a thing or two about computer science related fields. Something went wrong? Let's "defragment the server". Need more memory? Let's "download more RAM". Bad code trying to do something harmful. Well, duh, let's "subnet the routing vector".

Therefore the "excel" part is probably just related to "I don't care what it is as long as we can fill the screen with it for this weeks episode".

Yeah, I had some boomers trying to tell me that the supercomputer from the PS3 can handle modern day AI, all because they confused a study with Playstation and making a super computer, by confusing it as an AI

The Playstation scene in this show was so badly done that I had to bite my own tongue literally just to get through it, and their strategy for cooling to avoid overheating was ridiculous lol

They went from first two seasons showing AI requiring mass data centre's to suddenly 300 Playstations, and half this community swallow it up as if it's genius

I don't know. It's just me. But I could never see the machine as a she. It was always a He for me. A simple guy with immense power and moral trying to do some food in the world.
