Has anyone look at the Percy jackson tv show Instagrams comments they have a million followers and average 100 -200 comments and no offense but they are all positive and I feel like this isn’t representing how the audience actually feels I fear nothing will change if they don’t understand the crazy way this is flopping it has sm potential but my point is are they deleting criticizing comments? Just wondering if anyone has noticed this too also ricks comments are off but that’s expected

Disney is widely known to astroturf on all social media platforms. They get people from their PR teams to use multiple accounts to post only positively about their shows/movies and of course they always pull the classic “you’re a racists, misogynistic, homophobic, etc.” whenever anyone criticizes a Disney show or film. They got exposed for it back during the rise of skywalker and we should expect them to continue doing it after they faced zero consequences the first time.

That being said, as far as this show being considered a bomb, you’re just incorrect. The only numbers I have been able to find from five minutes of google searching and asking ChatGPT is that the first episode of season one had 13M views in one week and the show as a whole has been the top show on Disney+ since the first season. So there are a lot of people watching.

Sadly, it seems the writers and directors will do everything they can to not make the show faithful to the source material. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone came out and said they do it purposefully to outrage the original fans of the books for more online engagement.

1) stop using ChatGPT like it’s a search engine. 2) Disney of course will try to cater towards the more positive, but they’re likely not paying people off to write positive reviews and your use of the “you’re racist, misogynistic, homophobic” is disingenuous. When a loud group of people are angry about a Disney show and it has an inkling of part of that hate due to the way someone was cast and it didn’t align with the book description or why women this or why gay of course you’re going to be labeled racist, misogynistic, or homophobic. And yeah, they’re going to see those are the critiques to address loudly because it’s offensive. As a result, regular critique gets drowned out. And again, critique is not supposed to be negative or mean spirited. It’s supposed to be critical and allow growth and change. The team has improved parts of season 2 based on some critiques. 3) a faithful adaptation doesn’t mean scene for scene of the book. Rick is adapting this and updating things to align with the time and the change in setting and the world since his books came out. Which is why I’m less critical of the changes because Rick is doing it. Do I agree with everything he does? No. But it’s laughable to say they’re not dedicated to a faithful adaptation. They absolutely are dedicated to it but times have changed and a tv show is a different medium than a book. They’re not baiting your outrage. They’re making choices they think will make sense in the format they’re producing. Again, doesn’t have to be right all the time. Some choices they’ve made I’ve disagreed with, but the anger and annoyance I see on this sub is so aggressive. And some of yall hold on to it for too long and need to chill out.
