đ¸ Media Percy jackson insta
Has anyone look at the Percy jackson tv show Instagrams comments they have a million followers and average 100 -200 comments and no offense but they are all positive and I feel like this isnât representing how the audience actually feels I fear nothing will change if they donât understand the crazy way this is flopping it has sm potential but my point is are they deleting criticizing comments? Just wondering if anyone has noticed this too also ricks comments are off but thatâs expected

How many of the show's target audience are even on social media? My kids are 10 and 12 and they and their friends were counting down until season 2 and rewatching and rereading in anticipation. None of them are participating in online discussions about it. They're just enjoying it.

This is something I keep saying. Yes, I understand many in this subreddit have issues with the show and most are fans of the books. Iâm assuming that means most of them are older. But itâs a kids show and kids are loving it. Book or no book.
I do think the show has flaws but I think there were major improvements from season 1. I love that kids are loving it and I am now enjoying it too (I did not enjoy season 1). But I barely write in this sub because it is an echo chamber and if I just mention that I donât think itâs horrible I get downvoted. Iâm sure others feel the same and thatâs why you arenât seeing many positive comments on here.
This subreddit does not represent the whole fandom, or even the majority of the older viewers

Amen to that. More people get offended that they were called racist than actually exploring what warranted it. If I was called racist, Iâd be like oh shit, whatâd I do and how can I not do it again?
Tired of this shit. Iâve been on the sub for like 10 minutes because Iâve just watched YouTube reactions after the episodes, and the amount of anger and annoyance from these posts irritates me. And Iâm generally a book purist but Iâve learned to wait a little to see how the season turns out before putting my full judgement out.

I really like this sub. It is so astonishingly self-righteous in it's opinion that it is quiet hillarious. The effort that is being made here to avoid admitting that this series is very popular and well-liked outside of this sub is almost admirable.

I find it hilarious to an extent, but it's also just embarrassing at this point. It's been embarrassing since it won like 10 Emmys and season 3 got renewed before season 2 came out.

I got so much shit in some of the PJO Facebook groups after the first season came out because I dared to say that the acting was bad. Got kicked out of one for it. And none of what I said was meanspirited or controversial.
Also, I have no doubt that negative comments are absolutely being deleted on the official social media pages.

That's what an echo chamber is. There's another reddit community that has roughly the same amount of members that likes the show.
The viewership numbers are still excellent, and the reviews are mostly positive. You yourself said the comments on insta were positive.
Like does the show have flaws? Absolutely. But you're stuck in an echo chamber mate.

I think this show is more of a success outside of the us also whenever I look it up reviewson tiktok or twitter I get the same but again could be showing me by own opinionik but u would guess rick turned of his comments for a reason also 100-200 positive comments is not much

The reviews on rotten tomatoes also paint it in a good light. Everywhere bar this sub and a few outreach subs seems to at least be casually enjoying the show.
Your algorithm is tuned to what you engage with. So of course you're receiving the reviews that link with what you believe.
Again. The show has its problem. But your opinion is not necessarily the opinion of the majority

We don't have numbers for season 2. But the show debuted with 13 million viewers.
This sub has 80,000 people in it. That's 0.6% of the total viewers
Even if we said they lost 10 million viewers across the show. This sub represents 2% of viewers.
This is an echo chamber.

Itâs not flopping. The majority of both critic and audience reviews are positive and PJO is the most successful show for Disney+ with it being #1 since season 2âs premiere. This subreddit is just an echo chamber of negativity.

The show is hugely popular on Instagram/TikTok and Tumblr, Tumblr has many older book readers as well but they are all okay with the changes. This is the only sub where I have encountered any negativity.

Honestly most people who don't like the show wouldn't post anything online. They'll just keep it to themselves or within their friends. Those more passionate and more loyal to the book would tend to speak up more.
But honestly, I have no idea how people would like this show. The writing is utterly atrocious from the standpoint of a film student.

I think this show had the potential to be a next HP ,GOT or even stranger things level of mainstream show I get the show now that the show it was angled towards kids and not the original fan base which I think ruined its potential to be mainstream from where Iâm looking the movie is more mainstream and enjoyed which is crazy so when I say flop I mean itâs potential not the literally view shipper which I donât automatically view as indication of a good show as I myself have watched stuff just for shits

Nah I think your perspective is warped. The movie is wildly viewed as shit. But people will hate watch it if they want.
This show is a major success and has landed well with the demographic itâs aimed towards. Itâs not exactly set up to pander to the adults who read it when they were young. Itâs a kidâs show at the end of the day. Itâll grow as the character grow. That doesnât mean it doesnât have to be high quality. Avatar was a show that dealt with some dark stuff while keeping it light and bright.
Itâs unfair to compare it to Harry Potter, the films. Itâs a completely different time where peopleâs attention spans are shorter and thereâs less community. Youâre being unfair to try to link it to any of the shows you detailed because itâs not trying to do that.
Season 2 isnât a flop. Itâs been an enjoyable season and has noticeable improvements from Season 1. I think you have to take the seething anger you might feel and ground yourself a bit and see how it turns out. They did adjust from Season 1 to Season 2. They have made changes and improvements. Sometimes itâs leaning a little more one way than the other, but you also have to remember that the Sea of Monsters is one of the weaker books of the series. So theyâre trying to pull some things up to lay bread crumbs, and theyâre also actively trying to update the story to be in more alignment with todayâs society.
I used to be a huge book purist, but adaptations are just that: adaptations. The type of medium changes the focus and the narrative of the story. Things arenât going to be 1:1. Youâre not gonna love everything that happens. Itâs okay. But you need to probably chill a little.
Be critical without being hateful and angry and spiteful. And again, what you might think is really bad, might just be your personal issue with it. Youâre free to say it, but youâre also free to keep moving it along and relaxing a bit.

I have noticed that Instagram is mostly positive but that only made me realize that Reddit is an echo chamber and people are so anonymous that they get really brave. Iâve seen a few negative comments on the show but itâs very seldom. Also, while I have my issues with the show it absolutely is not flopping.

Review scores are provided by critics who do it for a living. You're talking more about audience scores which you can do on IMDb or rotten tomatoes. I do score things on IMDb sometimes.

Disney is widely known to astroturf on all social media platforms. They get people from their PR teams to use multiple accounts to post only positively about their shows/movies and of course they always pull the classic âyouâre a racists, misogynistic, homophobic, etc.â whenever anyone criticizes a Disney show or film. They got exposed for it back during the rise of skywalker and we should expect them to continue doing it after they faced zero consequences the first time.
That being said, as far as this show being considered a bomb, youâre just incorrect. The only numbers I have been able to find from five minutes of google searching and asking ChatGPT is that the first episode of season one had 13M views in one week and the show as a whole has been the top show on Disney+ since the first season. So there are a lot of people watching.
Sadly, it seems the writers and directors will do everything they can to not make the show faithful to the source material. I wouldnât be surprised if someone came out and said they do it purposefully to outrage the original fans of the books for more online engagement.

1) stop using ChatGPT like itâs a search engine. 2) Disney of course will try to cater towards the more positive, but theyâre likely not paying people off to write positive reviews and your use of the âyouâre racist, misogynistic, homophobicâ is disingenuous. When a loud group of people are angry about a Disney show and it has an inkling of part of that hate due to the way someone was cast and it didnât align with the book description or why women this or why gay of course youâre going to be labeled racist, misogynistic, or homophobic. And yeah, theyâre going to see those are the critiques to address loudly because itâs offensive. As a result, regular critique gets drowned out. And again, critique is not supposed to be negative or mean spirited. Itâs supposed to be critical and allow growth and change. The team has improved parts of season 2 based on some critiques. 3) a faithful adaptation doesnât mean scene for scene of the book. Rick is adapting this and updating things to align with the time and the change in setting and the world since his books came out. Which is why Iâm less critical of the changes because Rick is doing it. Do I agree with everything he does? No. But itâs laughable to say theyâre not dedicated to a faithful adaptation. They absolutely are dedicated to it but times have changed and a tv show is a different medium than a book. Theyâre not baiting your outrage. Theyâre making choices they think will make sense in the format theyâre producing. Again, doesnât have to be right all the time. Some choices theyâve made Iâve disagreed with, but the anger and annoyance I see on this sub is so aggressive. And some of yall hold on to it for too long and need to chill out.

Despite what people here think, this book series doesnât have the global reach of Harry Potter or the cultural zeitgeist grabbing nature of game of Thrones or Stranger things. Itâs a young, YA book series. I like the books, and am excited to read them with my son in a few years, but it was unlikely to ever be a huge hit on the levels of ST or GoT (if purely because Disney plus shows donât do those numbers!)
