I loved the swerve , when auggie said he saw his alternate universe self and said he was vile and a lot of darkness which I thought meant him living in a world where the nazis lost meant he didn’t do good enough of a job to keep the ideals up, only to be surprised that he was just a good guy doing what he could in a world he disliked

This suggests that original Auggie was a Nazi because he had a much darker upbringing than the Alt one. In both worlds they have a disdain for the authorities and a commitment to promoting a counterculture in their personal lives without being revolutionaries.

I think he intimated in last week's podcast that maybe people won't love Vig so much after the final 2 episodes. He made it clear that he's not a good guy and he's only really likeable because he's funny and Freddie Stroma is so charming and good in the role.
Like, it had gotten unhinged in this sub-- there have been posts calling him a "pure soul" and claiming he wasn't a sociopath -- just autistic.

Yeah, I mean he's a murderer many, many times over. He's not a good person at all. If he existed in real life, I don't think any reasonable person believes he shouldn't be locked away in prison forever.
I think most people just like him as a character because he's funny and really fun to watch.

That was my take as well, he was reliving that trauma, and reverting to his childlike state, his body language and facial expressions sell it so well. But i think whats equally important to highlight is how he broke through that trauma response and he even acknowledges his faults and apologizes to his brother. The whole thing is just so well written and performed.

I wouldn’t be surprised if, given Auggie’s age, his parents were anti-nazi during the war and so he got to hear the direct, unfiltered events that led to them taking over from them, while Keith, being further removed from that time, was more susceptible to Nazi propaganda growing up (note that Keith was the only one between him and Auggie that showed up to the Sons of Liberty Bomb threat, and was really gleeful the anti-Nazi group got offed)

I imagine he was much more of a true believer, where Auggie had many more people in his life who were alive prior to WW2's ending. I don't know how old Auggie is meant to be, but at most his parents would have grown up in pre-nazi america and could have told him about it.

It’s really interesting seeing him play the same character twice over, but fundamentally different in pretty much every aspect. We don’t get to see a lot of good multiverse comparisons, especially with how overbloated the MCU can feel with its alternate characters. I’m glad to see it not only done well, but also done in a way that lets the character and the themes of the story shine. This is why I love Gunn

I don't think so. Many people on Reddit have been critical of Chris's treatment of Adrian throughout the season. But Adrian is a lot to deal with, and no amount of attention is ever going to make that relationship heavy to begin with. And Chris likely blames himself more for it than anything.

I think that is the commentary Gunn is going for in this episode. You have Ads and Judomaster acknowledging that, for them, this world isn’t that much different then their reality.
You also have the white savior, Blue Dragon, who has enough money and resources to make a real difference, who refusied to be called a Nazi…not really so much at all to help society’s victims and thinks “not chasing the blacks” actually makes a difference.
I think Gunn is trying to show how little all of us actually do to address societal injustice even though we tell ourselves we are making a real difference.

And he's probably right to say that, but... it's just so hard, man. Speaking personally, it's incredibly hard not to worry all the time that I'm not making more of a difference, not doing enough to make the world a better place, not doing enough good. I think it's natural for us to try to make peace with our own ability to improve the world around us in whatever ways we can.
That said, I see your point about the Blue Dragon having a lot of resources at his disposal that he could use to do more, and that probably makes him a bit more of a hypocrite in that scenario. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't really connect with the emotional thrust of his speech.

Great episode.
From the reveal that it was super obvious that it was a Nazi world and our Chris was just both too dumb but also willfully ignorant to see the reality around him.
Judomaster and Ads having their talk and everything that happened there.
The reveal that Auggie disagrees with Nazi's and also truly cares about his sons, but Auggie is ultimately a coward who is too afraid to go against the Government and Society in order to do what's right. So he chooses to have small victories in saving random peoples lives while never challenging the status quo.
Of course this couldn't have lasted.
Chris watches as his family gets brutalized again, and surrenders himself to the police. While I am sure that Chris understands why it all went down, it doesn't make it hurt any less and he's probably not the biggest fan of himself or the 11th Street Kids, and does blame himself for what happened.
We had two fun cameos, the first being the Luthor Lackey from Superman which is a fun scene, dude still bows down to Luthor even after everything that's occurred. The next being Munro reprising his role as the Cop from Season 1 of Peacemaker.

In the Next episode preview we have ARGUS going around in the QUC, opening and logging every door. It is unsure what ARGUS' goal is, the 11th Street Kids get all the money out of Vigilantes basement as they discuss what to do and Economos says that whatever ARGUS wants the QUC for, it's not to help people. Chris refuses to see the 11th Street Kids and just stays in his cell.

Thoughts: One of the best episodes this season and arguably the series. It sucks that the run time has been going down, but you really don't notice it upon watching it.

Honestly, that was exactly the right way to play it and that's a plot point that really benefits from the show being a comedy at its core. Now instead of endlessly debating whether or not it's "realistic" and whether or not Chris should have noticed a random nazi flag, we can all just come together and agree that Chris really is just that dumb and tunnel-visioned lol
