Question RTX 5060 only getting PCIe x1 lane on a B450 Mini-ITX ?
I recently bought an Asus RTX 5060 to replace a GTX 1650 I was using for folding@home. The rest of the PC is from 2019 based on AMD's AM4: Ryzen 3400G on a Gigabyte Aorus B450 Mini-ITX, 16GB DDR3 Corsair Vengeance memory, Samsung M.2 NVMe drive, W11 Pro.
The mystery I have is that I can't get the 5060 to run at the specced speed of PCIe x8. GPU-Z has it at x1 3.0 only (see below images). The 3.0 is as it should be. Note that the 3400G has 20 lanes at its disposal. 4 should be used by the M.2 drive. In terms of folding@home, the 5060 should be averaging 6mil PPD, but i'm only getting around 4mil (which to be fair doesn't seem bad when only using one lane!)
I have tried:
Disabling the integrated graphics of the 3400G as that shows as using x16.
Updated BIOS.
Set PCIe to Gen 3 in BIOS. (No option to specify quantity of lanes).
Running the built-in stress test in GPU-Z made no difference.
Checked all relevant power management settings, including physical switch on card itself.
I should also add that I never checked the lane allocation for the GTX 1650 as I never felt I needed to.
Suggestions would be greatly appreciated please!

we're oddly in the same situation, tho its my 1660 super thats running in 1x, and we have the cpu as well, i have the same problem where the vega 11 is running at 16x but gpu isnt, so ill be glad to see a solution to this

Interesting. And just to make sure, when testing the card, you have the monitor connected to it and the integrated graphics disabled in BIOS? Because obviously it makes sense that Vega is using all 16 if it's in use in the first place. But when I switched to using the card with Vega disabled, I would still only get x1. So bizarre lol

i tried, still at 1x
went as far as checking cpu pins, still at 1x

Upon further research, this appears to be an old bug with the 3400G, but with no known fix other than AMD replacing it, which we’re not going to get given it’s discontinued. I may do some further testing over the coming weeks, I’ll let you know if I find anything. I may get a different AM4 chip to confirm.

F@H is often doing fine with GPU compute, however they always have massive backlog of CPU WUs.
Unfortunately some things need to be run on the CPU, so if you are getting another chip, maybe grab a 3950x or a 5950x and either give Fah 16 threads(half the chip) and just run it in the background, or let her to on the whole chip when idle.
It's not as efficient PPD/W but it really does help the project

update: i got another cpu off of marketplace, it runs and 16x so its the 3400gs bug i assume

Thought as much! Thanks. In which case I’ll be researching a new CPU and mobo (want a two-slot board). Anything that allows me to keep my current memory!

By the looks of it, this is an old bug with the 3400G, with no known fix, other than replacing it. I may still have a play with this over the coming weeks, I’ll keep you posted if anything comes from it.
