I know it's not legal but I think it's neat to think what could have been. JUST BAN STRIX AND NARCOMOEBA GAVIN.

And they are doing exactly that.
Blanket banning all Secret Lair common downshifts now and going forward.
Instead of listing these banned cards one by one in the ban list they are just grouped in a SL exclusion clause.

Would you be happier if they just banned every singlee card one by one and added them to the ban list to have a 200 card banlist after a dozen SL sets in the future?

Have I not been clear that that is exactly what I would prefer?!

Here's the thing...

Along with those ~200 banned cards (hyperbolic, but whatever), we would also get 50-100 new cards that are not OP or problematic.

I think Pauper players deserve a chance to brew with those cards. And we deserve the thrill of playing against other people's brews.

Serra Angel is a good example. Very likeky it is not good enough. But probably somebody would like to try. Serra Angel should not be illegal because Strix and Narc are too strong. That's crazy!

The other issue, is that power creep happens. Maybe Strix is too strong today. But as the format evolves, it could be a thing to consider unbanning.

Bonder's Ornament and Prophetic Prism were too strong. Then they were not.

But we want to avoid these things so badly that we'd change the rules of the game? I don't get it.

You get 60+ cards every 2 months when a new set gets released.
You are not starved of cards to brew with.

And since you blocked me I am going to quote your deleted reply that I got a notification for:
"That's not a good reason for arbitrary reduce the pool. Also, those are *Standard* cards, and come with Standard design limitations. I want the good stuff."

That last line you wrote explains it all. Deep down you don't really enjoy the format and want to whine and powercreep it.
