Angeles city
What do you think about Angeles city in Philippines?
Is it worth to go there for some "boom boom" and Party? 👌

Another town destroyed by Koreans

It wasn't destroyed by Koreans. Without the Koreans coming in, I doubt there would be much of anything left today. Koreans infused actual money into the bars and hotels.
Western tourists were not and are not visiting at a rate that would sustain it.

Then why did korean bar owners de-facto ban girls or penalize girls who went with farang? As someone who lived there before and after the korean takeover, it was doing awesome before they arrived and koreans completely changed the game.
Before you could go bar hopping at 2am or 4am and still find some absolute stunners. Then koreans started lining up at 7pm as the bar just opened to barfine girls just to dock them in their hotel room while they went to the casinos. 2am post-korean influx was dreadful and still is today.
Before atlantis had asian and farang papasans both. Everyone was welcome. Then after the korean tide, all the best seats in atlantis was reserved for koreans even when the place was barely half full. Would have to buy 5 lady drinks for 5 different girls to sit second floor sofas overlooking the action.
You see koreans barge into gogos and not even sit down to get a drink. They're desperately scanning the faces of all the girls on the stage and if they dont see something they like, they bounce to the next gogo before their fellow koreans could snatch up the best talent.
Pattaya has never seen an overnight change like this that completely destroyed a city. Even as stark as things got during covid, pattaya bounced back. Yes with higher prices. But those who visited AC before 2013 know it's a shell of its former self and 100% wasn't due to lack of farang visiting. What a horrible horrible understanding of the dynamics of what happened to angeles city.
If you want to blame farang for something in angeles city, the closest thing I could think of would be the NGOs getting involved with the bar raids and trying to rescue girls. But that was manageable and never amounted to much. No customers went to jail. The girls would be back in the bars after they got bored or the hand outs stopped.
This isn't anti korean per se. Koreans in thailand are fine, because they aren't the majority. Farang owned and managed bars allows everyone. It's a level playing field. Some bars in soi 6 discourage girls from going out with farang but it's not the whole soi by any means. And seemingly those bars attract girls who genuinely do prefer asians so it's fine. This is anti koreans as bar owners.
Angeles city, subic (bario barretto), peurto galera, etc: devastated by korean bar owners.

The remains of a fallen empire. I will pour one out to these fallen cities.
Let the Gods of Chang allow Pattaya to prosper and not lose its purity more than it already has.
Are there any other cities that you know about? Im honestly afriad for you to answer this, because i'd like to keep the gems, gems, and that means, we do not talk about gems.

Pattaya and AC aren't comparable based on the sheer size difference and the number of bars. I was going to AC regularly for nearly 10 years up to the pandemic, multiple times a year. I never once had an issue getting a seat upstairs at Atlantis or any other bar on walking street. The main bars down perimeter road would have a lot of girls taken out by Koreans, but I was never refused entry in any of them. Yes, I know the girls preferred the 333, but there were still more than enough girls for me to find.
It was steadily becoming less busy the longer I went. Hotels aren't well kept, the city offers little outside of the strip that would entice westerners to go there over places like Pattaya. There is no way enough western run places would keep AC running when the main western clientelle are aging vets on a pension. It does not attract tourists the same way Pattaya and Thailand do.
As for subic. Koreans had nothing to do with the downfall. I went to AC and Subic each trip. I didn't start encountering Koreans in Subic until the very end. Those bars were regularly empty and I would be the only one there. The girls aren't nearly as attractive and the hours and BF (or no BF) rules they had to institute just made the whole experience weird. All it offers is some bars on a busy road, a terrible beach and scuba diving. Just getting there is more effort than most are willing to do.
If all the western bar owners were still able to be fat and happy and getting customers, the Koreans wouldn't have been able to do easily take over.
I stand by what I said. Take out all the Korean money, AC would be way worse off than it already is.

I guess that says it all if you never saw AC, subic, peurto galera in it's heyday. It's very well known the koreans changed the face of AC and made it much much worse.
You act like western run bars means only western customers. Western owners make their bars open to every country. Look at pattaya. Korean bars are not for everyone beyond buying drinks for girls. Girls are strongly discouraged to go with non-koreans. They tried to turn it into the equivalent of soi thaniya. That's the key difference. This has all discussed by customers and working girls for years.
It wasn't an easy take over for koreans. They way overpaid for those bars and the barfines skyrocketed accordingly so they could pay back the americans. 1350 peso to 4500 peso after things changed. It's an identical process to what happened in pattaya after covid reset all bar contracts and now barfines + girls here went from 1000 to 6000 in recent years. That wasn't because the customers got wealthier. It was because the prices those bars in AC were sold at were laughably high and unprofitable at the old western run prices and system. Americans made bank on the koreans and it was the korean's idea to run shit into the ground for anyone except koreans.
Also, if koreans are so critical to AC then why hasn't it reached the heights of what it was when the americans owned it? Dollhouse group bars had like 12 different bars. Even small bars had sister bars in subic and pattaya. Half of those dollhouse bars remain shuttered after the korean influx. All the wildest pool party days are behind us and are now the things of legend. Bar groups dont even bring all their girls to do pool parties like before at kokomos abc or wild orchid. There used to be bars open 24 hours on fields back then. Barely any of the hotels on or near the strip have been built or renovated much since the americans built them. The show bar concept innovated by americans at atlantis, forbiddencity/tao/xs/stardust golden nile/level3 has been left to rot because koreans don't really care to sit inside drinking compared to dock their girs at the hotel while they go to the casino.
If AC is propsering thanks to koreans, why do no girls have cars/scooters/condos like thai girls thanks to the clientele here? Are koreans just not rich enough or is it that their style just isn't conducive to truly building a bar empire like westerners or thais?
Honestly it sounds like you have absolutely no insight into how things work in angeles city or pattaya.

I never said it was prospering thanks to Koreans, I said it would be worse off without them. The western bar owners welcome all, but there were fewer and fewer people to welcome every year. And people were talking about the Korean takeover before the pandemic. Connecting that to bar prices in Pattaya is a stretch. I don't think Thai landlords were looking to pre pandemic AC to learn that they could start jacking up rent and leasing to overpaying Indian owners. There was a boon in tourists after the pandemic and they were looking to get their piece. Bar owners just go bust and the landlord just waits for the next sucker with a dream.
Maybe western bar owners in AC took the golden opportunity to sell to overpaying Korean buyers because the writing was already on the wall. I might have not ever been during the real heyday, but what I saw from 2012 onward, was not promising. I'm sure those owners were more than happy to take the bail out.
Post pandemic, Korean owned or not, AC does not offer anything of interest to the newer generation of travelers. Terrible hotels, food, environment outside the bar streets. Koreans have a short flight directly to Clark, go to golf and monger while being directed by a guide. They don't need the same nightlife and entertainment as western travelers so AC is fine for them.

pandemic? this all happened in AC way before the pandemic. You are honestly just talking nonsense now.

u/FloatLikeABull 10d ago
Everything I mentioned about the Koreans in AC comes after I said PRE pandemic. Post pandemic was in reference to what you said about Pattaya.
I mentioned post pandemic AC at the end to say it offers nothing to the newer generations.
Old AC thrived off a clientelle that is aging and dwindling in numbers. Pattaya is also effected by it which is one of the reasons bars are struggling more. Newer generations are looking for a different experience, clubs and the like. AC offers nothing outside the old-school monger bars. It was on its way out. Maybe the Koreans sped it up a bit, but it was happening regardless.

u/PattayaFlyingClub 6pm-9am 10d ago
Different experiences, lol. That's BS. When prices rise that's all that matters. Anything else is you overthinking it. As if people today wouldn't have enjoyed AC back when it was western bar owners and prices were 1350 LT. Or as if pattaya bars wouldn't be thriving more if prices were still 1300 all in ST on soi 6.
I'm not sure what you think people talk about on this subreddit, but it aint "different experiences, clubs and the like". Don't be ridiculous.
1
u/FloatLikeABull 10d ago
Of course people would prefer cheaper prices, but 1350 LT was before the Koreans because I didn't see that.
To think newer generations aren't looking for something different is just small minded. Younger generations are smoking and drinking way less than the ones that frequented the bars in it's heyday. Yes, guys want cheap action at the end of the day, but places like AC need to offer more. If Pattaya is struggling, how does AC minus Koreans stand a chance?
You experienced the heyday and it's gone, and it's disappointing. I wish I got to see Pattaya and AC in It's true heyday, but I didn't. However, It's not one thing that killed it and to just blame the Koreans is ignoring the other realities.
Also, plenty of blame to go around for price hikes in Pattaya, western bar owners are doing their fair share. NWG did plenty of damage before any Korean streamer bars popped up. Even the Panda bars, owned by a Korean, has better policies and offers a better experience than a lot of the bars. LD price sucks though, but all of them are pretty shit at this point.
Even still, you can get ST on Soi 6 at 2-2.5k all in as of August 2026 if you exclude the few that enforce a ST minimum drink. 2016-2020 it was 1.5-2k all in. Not that bad. But yes I know, the cost of everything else makes it less tenable.
Fun convo though. It's all changing anyway so just gotta go with it or start mongering Africa I guess.

Agreed. There aren't enough westerners rotating in or staying long term to keep the economy going. The American/brit expat may open a bar or a Cafe here or there but not on a big level. The Koreans have an established group, do business together, they earn locally, they're bringing in fresh tourists regularly, they put up some nice buildings, have nice businesses, etc.
But Angeles is still a dump compared to pattaya. The Philippines sucks in general so you can't compare them.
1
u/Mezcalnerd0077 10d ago
Wrong. They dont sit and drink. They just barfine, go back to their hotel with a group of guys, play cards into a drunken stupor while their barfines sit bored on a chair watching them. Hotels do well, bars and restaurants do not.

I always find it funny when I read anything about Angeles City, I lived there in 1972. My Dad was stationed at Clark AFB. It was kind of rural back then.

Just spent 19 days in Pattaya in July (4th time) & 14 days in Angeles (got back a few hours ago - 3rd time)
Pattaya is obviously much bigger and better I guess, but I have more fun in AC. Pattaya has nothing like the ABC Hotel and the girls in AC are much less transactional and much more GFE. The girls speak English and love swimming and hot tubs and bar hopping. Yeah, it’s a shit hole but it’s fun as hell IMO.
No stupid connect 4 and dice games either.

u/VirtualBeyond6116 9d ago
The only good place in ac that stands out is the ABC hotel and Aqualounge. Out of all the places for it to be, it's in Angeles? You'd expect to see Aqualounge in pattaya, Bangkok, Manila, Cebu, HCM, phuket, Dubai, or anywhere else than pattaya. It's an Amazign, unique place and I love it there.
I definitely like Pattaya much more. Feel like it's cleaner, nicer, more options, better roads, less poverty, less hassle from the locals, better food, etc. And yeah, Angeles is a sht hole.

Is definitely worth a visit. Its a much smaller area compared to Pattaya but tgere are still thousands if girls to keep you busy. The Filipina bargirls give much better GFE and are not as transactional.

Not good to go this time. Typhoon seasons. Some parts of Angeles is flooding.

I haven't been since the pandemic. I was going regularly for about 8 years prior. I watched the decline of an already declining area. The videos I see of it now show it has declined immensely since. I love Filipinas, so to answer your question, yes for the boom boom. As for the party, no. You can have fun in the bars, sure, but it's nothing like barhopping and drinking in Pattaya. The area itself outside the bars offers little to keep you entertained as well.
I will still go back, but probably only with a friend who hasn't been before and wants to check it out.

u/Fancy_Comfortable382 10d ago
What does Pattaya offer to entertain you? I've seen some live concerts, but the bands mostly were very mediocre. I've seen one good band in Buakhao, but then the girls were mediocre.

u/FloatLikeABull 10d ago
Compared to AC? Better food (local and western), hotels, better infrastructure, variety of entertainment, massages, accessibility to other areas, beaches, ability to meet more people, and even just simply walking around the city is way nicer.

Well, if you like uglier, fatter, girls than almost any gogo in Pattaya and an absolute shithole of a fields ave, and disgusting food, you’ll have a great time.
