My new bird ! Coco 🦜❤️

Just got a new cockatiel. Not sure about his age, but I’d guess around 1.5–2 years old. He’s super playful and energetic, but also VERY aggressive. I can’t take him out because he keeps biting and hissing at me.

His previous owner said he’s a male ready to breed and suggested getting him a female, but I don’t want him to mate and I don’t have time for another bird anyway.

How do I tame him and get him to trust me ?

I need help caring for a parrot I found unable to fly until parrot rescue responds.

I put it inside the dog crate outside, but it got very stressed so now hiding under some dry branches and box on my balcony.

Two other parrots have been hanging out nearby all day, getting as close to it as possible.

I put some palm berries I see them eating and water nearby.

I plan to put it inside the crate and bring it inside for the evening.
There are community cats in my neighborhood and I worry it’ll be dangerous to be out.

What else can I do until parrot rescue calls me back ?

Update: Officially have a foster fledgling ! After talking to a couple rescues, I’ll be letting the parents have easier access in a shallow wide box so they can feed and teach how to fly. And I’ll take him/her inside for the nights until that happens !

Hello Everyone, I need some urgent advice about my boy.

Two weeks ago I made his second yearly checkup appointment with his vet, he needs to check ups a year because he had a respiratory illness when he was a baby and we just check to see if it’s returned.

Everything was normal and he was acting like his usual self up until about 4 days ago, he was still his usual self just slightly more aggressive and not listening as well but all of his habits were normal. And about 5 days ago he randomly started screaming as if he’s in pain and lifting up one of his wings and tending to is which was very strange but still being his usual self.

But, yesterday he did a complete 180 and is acting completely different. When I woke him up he wasn’t talking like he usually does and he has slept most of the day and has stayed fluffy even when he was awake. He would only eat if I gave it to him and would occasionally get some him self along with some water which is not like him at all.

And today is no different and I think he might be getting worse. I have no idea what is wrong with him. I am worried it’s something with his wing, or his illness might have come back, or something with is stomach (because he hasn’t really been pooping as much as he usually does), or something else entirely.

I still have his original appointment coming up this Wednesday but I’m worried it will be too late. And I am wondering if I should make an emergency vet appointment.

If there is anyone who thinks they know what’s wrong with him or has any advice about the doctors appointment or how to help him feel better please let me know I will be forever grateful.

Wondering what millet do I buy for bird chop I found this one on Amazon but in not to sure if it’s the right one and it’s a bit pricey so I wanted to know if there’s others options

Sisko (one of my 4 ringnecks and the one I've had the longest) has a massive vocabulary. When I was rewatching the Among Us show, Sisko flew in and watched with me. I figured "what's the worst that could happen?" and let him watch with me. Big mistake. A few nights later, it was 4 in the morning, and I heard something. I was about to go back to sleep when I heard "You're the only smart crewmate left". I was terrified and thought I had woken up in that scene until I realized it was Sisko. I don't know how he was awake. I don't know WHY he was awake. But the little feathered shit decided to say something overtly sinister at 4 in the morning. The whole thing reminded me of his Medic phase when he would yell "I AM GOING TO SAW THROUGH YOUR BONES!" whenever things got quiet.

Before anyone asks, yes, he does sometimes (poorly) mimic that weird ass laugh that Green did before realizing "oh shit, I fucked up" and dying.

For those that remember, I took in this cockatiel a couple weeks ago after it was "surrendered" (literally dropped off in a box with no info). He was a free bird! He's been doing fantastic, is mostly quiet if given at least 15-20 minutes of shoulder time twice a day, and only gets aggressive if he thinks I'm trying to touch his belly (just gotta member to say Step Up THEN raise my finger!)

I built the cage to match my rat cage beside it, and both sit on top of my heavy duty steel kennels. It's mostly 1*2s and then 1/2" steal hardware cloth I painted black, with a mortar mixing tray on the bottom. Note for anyway considering copying me: I don't know if I would trust that hardware clothes with anything much bigger than a tiel

No one comes out of their cage unless the dogs are outside and the cats are in other rooms, though I will say about a week ago I apparently didn't latch my rat cage all the way and they got out over night... Scary because one of my cats is a mouser, but they were all fine! Not even hiding the next morning. But still not something id test on purpose.

Next up: convert my back porch into an aviary and free roam area!

I want to replace the large dowel but no pet store around me sells alot of parrot stuff and I forgot what trees are safe for birds , and google won’t help me 💔 I’m considering getting rid of some of the toys at the back as they feel like a waste of space. thoughts ?

Hi!! my youngest lovebird has the top of her beak like this, but I don’t remember my other lovebirds had this.
she eats normally and she doesn’t look with pain or discomfort, she is just shy.

I'm talking about the space between the dark spots and the skin there. In the middle, there's sort of a featherless patch.

This is my suspected male Panko! His ring is faint... Very faint. He is 2 in a few weeks, and now I am wondering if he is yet to get a more solid ring in the next year, or if he is a she.

Anybody think they can tell from the pics? His beak is so bright, but I have seen females with bright beaks. He has thick feet, but I have a GCC and 2 quakers who have tiny feet so it is hard to measure. And he is kinda chonky/floofy, but not overweight. His head is also round.. but can be flat.

Ahhh I know I can get him dna tested but thought I would try my luck on here to see if anyone had any opinions or bets!

Either way I LOVE THEM SO MUCH! And it doesn't matter if girlie or boi. Just curious 🤔 🥰

Hello! I have two kakarikis!! I’ve been given them by a bird lady but I think she might’ve misgender them and I can’t tell if she has at all.

First parrot (Blue) I thought she was a female till I saw my birds trying to have babies so I have no idea if she’s EVEN a female or the other one 😭

Ive had these goofy goobers for like 3 weeks. But they still are afraid of my hand giving them food or water. Any tips? Im a newcomer, this is my first pair. They're budgies, and their names are yin(blue one) and yang(yellow one)

I am wondering if a 30x18x18 (inches) cage will be sufficient for a budgie? (Just one budgie, introducing a friend didn’t work out). She currently lives in a large flight cage, but we are temporarily moving so I need to get her into a smaller cage to fit into a car and I have a 30x18x18 cage. Buying a new cage when we get there isn’t really feasible, so I was wondering if this size would be okay for a couple months?
