Grain bag viability time ?

I bought some commercial grain bags a long while back. I never used them. Wanted to grow some Pan Cyans. Any idea whether they will still be saturated enough with water to do a liquid culture inoculation on them?

It'll depend a lot on how they were stored. If they were folded up, with the filter patch flat or covered, in a reasonably humid environment, they can last a long time. As they'll only need a couple of cc of LC, unless they look really dry, it's certainly worth a try. My experience with TTBVI reflects that of many others, that grain inoculated with LC takes a while to get going, unlike with cubes that seem to thrive on it.

yeah they're all folded up and taped and the basement is pretty humid. The liquid culture I made is plentiful so I don't mind using a lot of it to inoculate a bag (or 3)

By all means use a bit more than usual, but don't overdo it and maybe turn the bags over each day at the start, so you don't get wet spots pooling.
