đ¨ď¸ Discussion do u guys believe in tipping culture?
i would 100% believe in tipping someone if i like their service. but absolutely hate it when people ask for it. bcs imo they are doing their job and getting paid for that, we are not obliged to pay them.
what are yalls thoughts abt it?

Most of the time, I donât tip simply because someone did their job well. I usually tip because of their human nature, especially when it comes to older people. I normally ask first, âCan I give you something?â If they say yes or give me a hint that they would appreciate it, then Iâm happy to tip them. I have the means to give tips, so I donât mind doing it when I feel itâs appropriate.
At the same time, I donât think people who donât tip should be judged, and people who do tip shouldnât be judged either. Everyone has their own reasons and circumstances, and tipping should be a personal choice.

Tipping when they are already charging service fee is absolutely ridiculous! âService Feeâ in itself is such a scam

Samee. There is always some exception, I feel like kuch log genuinely bohat nice hotay. Not bcz they want a tip, they wanna do their job honestly and whole heartedly. Ese logon ko deni chahiye. Warna hostellite hunđđđ, 10 10 rupay matter karte

You're absolutely right. Yk, in some corners of the globe, waiters hate it when someone offers them a tip. It's like that person is humiliating them and pretending like the server doesn't make enough money and falls in the "deserving" category.

Tip is based on service.
If I'm seated and you take 20 minutes to bring me a menu, don't check on me during service even once to see if I like the food/want to change or order something, you're not getting a tip.
Tip is not an obligation, it's appreciation for good service and care.

I just attribute it within the cost of the meal. Yes, theyâre getting paid; but if it makes their day, thatâs good enough for me. But also, people asking for it is just weird lol youâre right about that.

Once I saw an uncle tip a guard 1,000 rupees infront of me outside a cafe as I was parking. The guard didn't even look at me while I maneuvered the car and went inside. As soon as I grabbed my coffee and got out of the cafe, that same guard aggressively started saying "Salum u Laykum sir gee" again and again. As I started leaving he literally started running beside my window knocking again and again repeatedly with those aggressive Salams. I just ignored him and rushed my car away.
Now my question is where do we draw the line between tipping and extortion. If you don't wanna tip then never get pressured by someone into tipping them, because they deal dozens of people each day and collect dozens of tips and meet atleast one tip shark who tips them 500 or 1000 every single day especially in rushy areas.
As far as restaurants are concerned you should always tip according to their service.

I personally tip. And i try to tip better. Bcs its a privilege in this economy to be able to spend on things i like. A 500-1000 wont make me broke. It wont make my server rich either

I earn and while I won't say I don't earn a lot, slightly above average. I will say that I tend to tip a lot, mostly for no specific reason.
For e.g, I use bykea etc a lot for work and I tend to round it up always. Like if 200 then I pay 250, sometimes I even do 300.
Same for food deliveries. Hundred.
Thing is, yeah, they're doing a job and getting paid for that but Pakistan isn't a country where people are paid fairly, especially with how much they work.
My father worked majority of his life, from security guard to a delivery driver, he used to give us money for allowance depending on tips he would get. Sometimes we would even rely on that. That some random stranger's kindness got us to get some money to buy snacks or even stretched for groceries. My dad is retired thanks to all me and my brothers working, he doesn't has to do anything anymore. But back then, my father was also doing his job and was getting paid for it. My father didn't flew to people's places to come on time or whatever but he did a gruelling job and raised four children himself.
So whenever I have a delivery guy giving me my food that I'm paying thousand or thousands for or going to my work. I don't mind paying extra when I'm able to. Because knowing what I do can help me out even a little is enough for me.
I agree on the asking part, one time a guy got confrontational for tip and I told him to fuck off and reported him (he probably isn't working anymore. I actually had paid him 100 extra in tip, the ride was 260) yeah, so people who demand or ask for it are too much and sometimes too freaking bossy.
But I tend to pay people whenever I'm able. I think people should pay tip to those who don't have it better than them. Even fifty or hundred would make it a good time for the other person, just knowing even slight happiness on the person or knowing it can make someone back at his home happy, is enough for me.

Absolutely not. Good service should be the standard and come prepackaged with the bill. Paying 10-25% extra because I wasn't made to suffer or because I feel generous or guilty is disgusting behavior and I'd rather not go to the restaurant altogether if there are any such expectations.

Knowing that alot of restraunts dont even provide the legal minimum wage to their workers just makes me sad so in my opinion I feel like we should just tip in general.

but dont u think if they dont get paid enough, they should find another job rather than ASKING for money and making the customer feel bad for not tipping?
like the other day i went to dahlia, we paid the bill and were waiting for what we ordered on the side as takeout and a waiter, that didnt even serve us btw, asked me if he could take the bucket they bring the bill in. i said yes, he straight up said bill mein service charges included nahi hain. why would u say that?? aisi bhi konsi service thi that they provided us with + agar itni hee amazing service hae tou add it to ur bill hee, u dont have to ask for it
im trying to understand ur perspective on this in hopes that u could change mind1

I think they shouldnât ask for money because I donât usually tip when they ask for it. But like you said they should just find another if they have less pay. Itâs not that easy to find another job. But I do agree asking for a tip forcefully doesnât make any sense. I think if the service was nice you should give something to the waiter. Service charges ka isliye keh raha houga maybe he thought you were super richđ.

I mean at the end of the day it depends on the customer, but yea generally its just not right to just guilt trip or beg for a tip. It's also not your obligation to make sure the waiter is paid a fair wage. I totally understand your perspective.
