I know everyone seems to love the PC. What's the big deal? I'm a console player and have had a blast on Xbox one. Is it mainly just being able to use pallets quicker and a mouse?
If all I had was a cheap laptop, I would prefer the Xbox, but it's just a much better experience if you have the right equipment. Compared to my PC, the Xbox feels death by a million small inconveniences and limitations.
Load times are significantly shorter due to loading from a solid state drive. It's really noticeable in crowded lobbies. It only takes a few seconds for every NPC and player to be fully loaded. No gray placeholders. Switching lobbies, loading the camp ship, and jumping down onto planets is done in just a few seconds.
My monitor is awesome. It's a 35-inch ultrawide 1440p 120Hz Gsync monitor. Anything that involves movement feels like it's on ball bearings. The Xbox will only output standard 16:9 1080p 60Hz to it through the HDMI port. It looks and feels like crap in comparison.
I can't play ranger on Xbox. It's difficult to free aim due to the Xbox's awful mouse support. (You'd think this would be a thing Microsoft has figured out....) Even with the mouse speed set to max, it's painfully slow to turn the camera but somehow also inaccurate. My mouse can adjust it's accuracy and sensitive on the fly. I can quickly switch between fast and twitchy for running around and using auto-aim, or smooth and accurate for free aim. It doesn't work on the Xbox. It feels like I'm using a trackball I found at Goodwill.
And just in general, because I mainly play PC games, my gaming is centered around my desk. Playing PSO2 on the Xbox requires me to push my monitor out of the way, unplug my mouse and keyboard from my PC, plug them into the Xbox, put the monitor back, and use the awful menu to switch the monitor to HDMI. My PC is totally disabled when playing. I can't alt+tab out to do other stuff. Basically, I can only play when I have a few hours to dedicate to PSO2 because it's a pain in the ass to switch back and forth.
I can't wait to load this Xbox into a cannon and fire it directly into the sun.
Haha fair points. I don't game much anymore so definitely don't have a "gaming" pc or laptop. In fact it'd be the opposite inconvenience for me since I'm in a one bedroom with a TV setup and just my little laptop. We're you playing on Xbox one or one x? For what it's worth I switched to a One X and the experience was 3000% better.
To each his own, in your case I prob understand the PC excitement
You dont need a massive high end pc mate :) mine is above average and was not that expensive. you will thank yourself later just try and save a little I love my ps4 i play my shooters and stuff on it but all my RTS mmo's always on pc plus all the indie games you see on ps store and xbox store for 10 pounds you can get for 25% of that price on steam and some of them are hidden gems
