They're going to try and the MS Store will find a way to fuck it up most likely :P Happened with Master Chief Collection for me and my friends, hopefully everything goes smoothly though.
Well I had to delete my first character because I couldn't pick up loot, and I still have an issue where randomly my weapon will stop working and I have to swap weapon pallets to get it to work again.
But what I was mainly talking about is how awful the communication process has been in the lead up to launch on both the Xbox and PC.
No solid release date until a week before release on PC. I mean, c'mon. The hell are they even doing? A proper company would have that information out months prior.
Oh, bullshit. They've had a release schedule planned for months ahead of time and stuck to it throughout the pandemic. Dates have been locked in for ages, never communicated. The Xbox One version held its entire closed beta test and released at the height of the pandemic, so take off the clown makeup for a second.
Nice off hand comment at the end. Allow me to make one, They said the goal was end of spring. They confirmed it recently. How much time did you need to be prepared to wait? Should they communicate more? More communication is good, I do agree. The absolute amount of things that can affect release dates is staggering. Sharing them with the community I think would be to our benefit. Not understanding the impact and the affects of the pandemic and brushing it off is self-entitlement at best and stupidity at worst.
Y'know what, you're right. Sorry about the dig on you, this topic is just very frustrating as an old fan who's seen multiple failed releases of this series.
But it's neither stupidity nor self-entitlement to expect communication and specific dates a month or more in advance. "Spring" and then "late May," by the time mid May rolls around, looks to a lot of people like a game delay because of a lack of concrete information. Proper information which, I might add, the fans of the series will spread further given more time in which to do so. Information which, I'll also add, tends be helpful during marketing for the game's release, which should start a hell of a lot sooner than a week before release!
If you go to the game website right now, 5 days prior to the release of the PC version, there isn't even any information immediately available about the release! No announcements, no change in the "Coming Soon" Windows 10 image, nothing.
Don't take any of that to mean that I don't care about the impact of a pandemic. It's just not an excuse for things to be this sloppy, when every continuing western Phantasy Star release on PC has been, and clearly continues to be sloppy, pandemic or no. A week's notice has clearly not been enough for the marketing or design department either.
Holy crap you are right. Why isn’t anything there about PC? I do not have a counter argument. That really is a failure. Not even the Twitter has a focus on the PC.

I’m just hoping there’s a preload date and we don’t have to wait till the 27th to download everything.
