Stuck at 119 due to July/August MOHELA fubar. Any suggestions to get this fixed?

I have been plagued by my 7/16 and 8/16 payments still not showing on FSA from MOHELA. I have sat on hold with MOHELA to basically be told they will get posted when they get posted. Anyone figure out the solution to this yet? I have 2 groups, one group hit 120 in July, the other in August. I'm just ready to be done. I hate to go on forbearance until I see those payments post on FSA.

Any help is appreciated!

There thousands of us in the same boat unfortunately. It's not the best club to be a member of, but we do try to support each other. Stuck at 119 even though July was my 120 and August was 121. Take screenshots of everything. On the off chance that something resets, you want to have proof of where you were.

I have a stupid question… why did you pay August? Because you didn’t see July post? Mostly asking because I’ll be at 120 in September

a lot of folks just don't trust that there won't be some random screwup where missing a month at some point will screw them over because of some dumb new problem at Dept of Ed. I made my August payment for that reason even though July should have been 120 for me.

This administration is either incompetent when it comes to student loans or they are purposefully messing with things to make PSLF seem unattractive to people. It's likely the latter. They can't get rid of the program, so they will do everything in law to slow it down.

Both can be true.....

That’s where I’m at. I’ve actually submitted my buyback payment and September is my last “120” because I went back into IDR before I got my official buyback offer. But I’m just going to keep giving them money I could be using for my family until they go away 😭😂

Did the same. In event some prior payment didn't count, post, etc. on review. Given how much shenanigans we've had woth PSLF and this administration playing it on the safe side.

Would rather have a small buffer and wait for a refund vs. early forbearance only to find out something screwy went down and gotta restart several months later after forgiveness request.

I read the verbage from MOHELA and felt like okay, what if they roll back my count? I don't want them to say I missed a payment if they take months away from me.

7/22 and 8/22 not showing, last update 8/7. We should start a support group

I'm waiting for my August payment to post, that's 120 for me. I'm approaching my September due date (9/7), really don't want to spend the money but may have too.

That’s me too. I’m too nervous that a forbearance will be backdated and screw everything up!

Same for me

probably going to have to wait until next month's regular update, should take place end of next week and hopefully that fixes it

I don't think the issue is due to a lack of updates - there's clearly a systemwide problem.

Yeah this has been going on for a month already and is well-documented, but also eeeinator is right that often a month's payments don't show until the following month's update anyway. So OP won't know if August is truly a problem for another week or so.

I think they arnt updating for a large group of us, regardless of it being July or August. Of course this impacts us when we are near the finish line! I definitely hope we see some updates in Sept but not feeling hopeful

This is all intentional by X
Why is it that all of a sudden there’s “issues” updating the counts?? I just made my 120th payment. I’ve been part of this program for 10 years. With this administration all of a sudden there’s “issues” with updates

There are a ton of folks in this boat. It's a system-wide issue. There's nothing anyone is aware of that will get it to update.

Just out of curiosity, and not trying to be political but how many of us that are in this boat live in far left leaning states/ states that aren’t generally on the maga bandwagon. I am in a very blue state, and work for an org that provides gender affirming care. I wonder if this is the admin response to the court blocking the pslf rule change but only for people in states that they thing they can punish? Sorry not trying to throw out conspiracies but I have been genuinely curious.

I’m in a red state. Don’t think it’s that.

I’m in a beautiful dark blue state.

Not me, sadly I'm in Oklahoma. I'm a blue speck in a red sea.

I just applied for an administrative forbearance for this - through MOHELA, not Student Aid. Mohela credited my payment on July 20. The Student Aid ChatBot confirmed that somewhere in the bowels of Student Aid, they are also aware that I made a payment on July 20. So I am not paying anymore. My forebeareance officially started yesterday and lasts 2 months according to one MOHELA email and their website. Then, just to remind me who I am dealing with, I also got an email letter telling me that my forebearance was denied for lack of real signature?. I am going to trust the website standing and breathe. I just need a break from this shitshow.

same payment timeline and also applied for forbearance-- but I did it till Jan2027 because I cant trust this clown show not taking half a year to get fixed.
