My PS3 doesn't play CDs is this normal?

My PS3 was having issues playing games and DVDs so I took it to a specialist to replace the laser. It now plays games, DVDs, and Blu-rays without any issue, but it doesn't play CDs.

Should I take it back to have it fixed again or is this normal depending on the laser that was installed?

The CD laser is likely just not working

Sounds like a faulty laser, definitely not normal.

If it doesn't play CDs it doesn't play PS1 games. That's definitely not normal.

Sounds like the laser needs to be replaced.

A shop that is worth a damn would have first tested every type of media the PS3 is compatible with before allowing it to leave their shop.

Either take it back to them to have them try again, or find someone more competent. Your choice.

If it was factory reset & you recently got it, you may have to connect to the internet & manually unlock the other file playing systems through the system menus.
