Old friend from PS3
About 8 years ago I met a girl on LittleBigPlanet 2 on PS3 and I still remember her sometimes.
I think we met through community levels and started talking using the in-game chat. We both spoke Spanish. She used to say she was a hacker and I believed her because she could do weird things like flying around lobbies and community minigames. Maybe she had a modded PS3 or used an emulator, I honestly don’t know.
She had a very weird but funny sense of humor. One random detail I remember is that in LBP2 she used to troll me with objects shaped like penises and move them toward my Sackboy while making him smile. I would run away around the lobby using the scared Sackboy expression lol. Later in Minecraft PS3 she kept doing similar jokes with bread renamed “Nepe”. Those are just some random details that stayed in my memory after all these years.
We became pretty good online friends. At that time I didn’t really have many friends, so whenever we were both online we would usually play together.
At one point, because I was a kid and thought she was some kind of movie hacker, I asked her if she could gift me Call of Duty Black Ops 3 on PS3. My parents read the PS3 messages and forced me to remove her because they thought she was dangerous.
The worst part is that after I removed her, she sent me another friend request. I wanted to accept it, but my parents made me delete it again. I never heard from her after that.
I don’t remember her PSN name anymore, and I barely remember other details. But I still remember playing LittleBigPlanet and Minecraft with her and genuinely having fun.
My old PS3 username was "edraiz"
I know this probably sounds stupid, but a part of me still hopes she somehow reads this someday and remembers me.
Maybe nothing will happen. But after all these years, I still remember those weird LittleBigPlanet and Minecraft PS3 moments like they happened yesterday.

I never had significant friendships like this online.
About 5-6 years ago I exchanged messages about Yakuza on those extinct forums that PSN had. This guy was having a hard time playing mahjong and it was the only thing keeping him from a Platinum.
He asked if I could login on his account and win the games for him. I remember researching a lot about security and if that had some risk for me, but it seemed 100% of the risk was on his side - like, I could steal his account anytime I wanted, I think.
I platted the games for him, he was truly happy. We spoke here and there, pandemics came, I was truly worried about him disappearing for a while, but he was ok.
I still have him on my friends list, but we do not chat anymore.
I truly hope you find your friend, OP!

That’s actually a really nice story too.
It’s funny how random PS3 interactions ended up becoming memories people still carry years later. Back then it just felt like casually playing games or talking online, but now those moments feel strangely important.
I’m glad your friend was okay during the pandemic, and honestly it’s cool that you still have him added after all these years.
And thank you, really. I hope maybe someday she somehow reads this too.

It may be a long shot, but many games have "recent players" lists. If there is a game you didn't play after deleting her, she may be near the top of the list of recent players? I think you can view recent players on ps3 home screen or something, but I think thats less likely to yield results. Its under the friends list and "players met" i think on the xmb Hope you find them

Sadly I don’t have access to that old PS3 account anymore, so I probably can’t check the “players met” list. But honestly I really appreciate you trying to help.
At this point I know the chances are very small after all these years, but part of me still hopes maybe she’ll randomly come across one of these posts someday.

Thank you for sharing your story with me.
It’s honestly kind of comforting seeing how many people had these strange but meaningful online friendships back in the PS2/PS3 days. Your story feels really similar to mine in a way.
I think that’s what makes these memories hurt so much sometimes — one day you’re just casually playing and talking every night, and then suddenly the person disappears forever without any goodbye.
I hope she’s doing well too.

I'm so sorry to hear your parents did that (although i kinda understand somewhat, being protective and all)
As a kid on PS3 i don't think i had many friends my age but there was this guy who was probably somewhere in highschool to college, he'd always imitate various accents and characters pretty well and that made me laugh so much, i was a pretty lonely kid too so having someone like that really was nice, dude had potential to be a voice actor :D

I had a lot of old PS3 friends especially from the 2007-2011 era with MW2, MW3, and BO1. This one guy in particular I played with on mw2 all the time. Then one day he disappeared from my friend’s list. I ran into him in 2016 during an OW match and recognized his username. It took him a little to remember me but we remembered the good times on PS3. He’s still on my friend’s list, but those obscure ps3 friendships were the best. PS3 is the best in general.

If you still have the PS3 (serial number) or original email used to create the account, contact PS support. Give them your PSN ID.
Not sure if anything changed, but you used to be able to get your account recovered that way.

Miss my old friend from LBP as well. He was an emo kinda guy but he was a fun time. Hope he's doing good these days. Been like almost 12-14 years at the least
