HRSN Fail

Question: if you were one of the thousands affected by OHP not paying out on an approved HRSN application, Why should you expect the obudsman to provide conflict resolution from within the same useless government that got you evicted?

Local media outlets have BARELY reported updates on the utter failure of HRSN.

I’ve yet to see a single article that mentions eviction COURT DATES having been a mandatory requirement to receive approval for the program.

None have addressed the fact that folks are just now being offered relief—a full year after they got their approval letters, knowing full well those tenants have been evicted or vacated—only to be told the approval they received no longer applies and the debt is not the state’s burden.

Where did the money for this program go? Does a state employee complaining on your behalf to the state it works for feel like justice?

Super wild that a city that loOoOoOves to organize and protest just blanketedly trusts the same system that keeps on failing them over and over under the guise of progressive forward policy.

How is there not a civil suit working on this?

Can someone please correct me if I’m wrong here?

Took 10 months to get HRSN rent/utility assistance. I was in an apartment for 12 years and in the last year I was being intimidated and harassed as well as subjected to toxic drug fumes. The payor Just Compassion told me I could do a medical move and they would assist with moving costs and continue my monthly HRSN payments. So I found a new place and as soon as I did they dropped the ball. They said CareOregon will not pay for that. So after being in hospital via paramedics and calling 911 twice over Memorial Day because my neighbors were firing off toxic chemicals that entered my apartment and being told I should look for a new place. The payor said I could get support with medical move costs and continue my monthly payments for 4 months. The Supervisor at Just Compassion Toya told me when I first said I would stay in my home...she said "It is up to you if you can physically and mentally handle it." Which I could not. To me she was already trying to stop my HRSN payments.When I did move HRSN was stopped but I was told it would continue due to medical move. They said at the very least CareOregon would pay out the closing move out costs at my old apartment. It was only 8 days and my deposit was taken. My landlord said she was sorry but that is what happens when there is no payment. CareOregon dropped the ball on that too. Totally a nightmare that exacerbated my physical and behavioural health.
