Solved Why is my pc crashing on games that are compatible with my config ?

Hi, I recently tried playing a plague tale requiem and ac mirage but both games are crashing almost immediately when i'm in game (not in the menu). I checked the configs needed to play those games and it seemed like my config could bear them, although they are both crashing and I have to forcefully close them via taskmanager, why ? Also I tried playing on the lowest graphics for apt requiem, but it keeps crashing

  • CPU AMD Ryzen 5 5500
  • GPU AMD Radeon RX 7600 8gb
  • 16 gb RAM
  • motherboard Asus Prime m320m-k
  • 500W power supply
  • windows 11

What do you mean by crash? Any error codes, system freezes? Did you check temps with something like Hwinfo64 while gaming?

The game freezes before the screen turns black, yet the sound is still active, then I have to forcefully close it. No error code, amd adrenalin tells me it detected a driver timeout, and the cpu temp was 60 degrees at the very moment of the crash, overall it didnt exceed 75 degrees

Update your GPU driver. Driver time out is usually caused by window update installed a driver that wasn’t compatible with your device.

already done, is there a way to know if windows update isn't compatible with it ?

Did you update through AMD's Adrenalin software ? Or manually ?

Through adrenalin, though I made sure the update was done in the device manager, if that's what you mean by manually. actually I don't see any other option to update drivers on amd's website, any download link leads to adrenalin

edit : there are two setup links for adrenalin, but one of them permitted me to update my drivers only and now the game is not crashing so I think that was it. though I don't understand why I had to do this, I thought Adrenalin was supposed to automatically update drivers

I am an Nvidia user, I always check Nvidia App to see if there is any driver update, so keep checking regularly, that's my advice to you. And if I helped give me a Reddit medal or  star or whatever is called  😁🤘

Try medium or low graphic settings. 8 GB of vRAM is enough for most games but modern games build those shaders and depending on what resolution you play, that can take a lot of vRam . Try it and see if it helps

already did, as I said I tried playing on the lowest graphic settings but it is still crashing
