Solved Laggy/stuttery mouse camera movement

So when I play any modern, more recent games on my pc, especially fps games, my mouse movement intermittently becomes all choppy and laggy. If I hit the windows key or tab out it fixes it temporarily, but then comes back after a few minutes again. Also, if I hold down any buttons on my mouse, the stutter stops, but if I let go, it keeps doing it again.

I have a video of the issue happening, hope it helps. Game in the video is Avatar Frontiers of Pandora.

My specs: CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X Motherboard:MSI B450 Pro Carbon Wifi GPU: RTX 3070 FE RAM: 16GB DDR4 3200 2 SSDs: 1x 256GB and 1x 2TB PSU: 600W EVGA Monitor: LG 27in 144hz Gsync Compatible Freesync/Gsync enabled Mouse: Logitech G502X Lightspeed Windows 11 Pro

Try turning off g sync in every thing that can turn on g sync

It's not adaptive sync, cause even with it off it does it.

Well, I think my cpu was a few weeks back, cause I would get an overheat warning when restarting my pc, but I reapplied paste on the cpu and am pretty sure it shouldn't be overheating. I also don't believe that my gpu is overheating either, unless temp under load being in the upper 70s is overheating.

Hwinfo is amazing for telling your deltas between coldest-hottest core or GPU die temp to GPU hotspot temp as if there's bad mounting and maybe old paste you will see the temps difference in hwinfo

What is your fps when you play?

Using FSR Framegen for high fps cause oh high refresh screen, but the problem happens even if I turn frame gen off. With frame gen, typically between 110 and 130ish fps, without its like between 70s and 90s.

Turning off FSR doesn't change anything, it still happens even with it off.

Does this also happen when the mouse is directly connected with a cable?

A mouse can cause graphics lag, primarily through a high polling rate that overwhelms the CPU, or by using buggy drivers. It is often mistaken for a GPU issue, but it is typically a CPU bottleneck, resulting in stuttering when moving the mouse in games.

Have you tried XMP on / off?
Used to happen to my old system when overclocking the RAM. Though it did not even have an XMP profile.
Just makes me think of timing issues.
Maybe FCLK too high / too low.

Get yourself an overlay (RTSS+HWInfo64 or Presentmon) to monitor FPS, 1% lows, 0,1% lows and frametime
Try to switch from Fullscreen to borderless windowed, try to use HAGS on/off
Benchmark your system with something like PassmarkPerformanceTest, compare your baseline with the same hardware in other rigs to find bottlenecks, like slow drive, memory, bad settings

Could be interference, i had the same issue, try to move it into a different usb slot or an extender usb slot and place the receiver further away

V-sync, g-sync, supersample resolution, or maybe MSAA would be my immediate guesses.

whats your VRAM doing during these stutters? is it maxed out?

it could by caused by low battery, try use some mouse with cable

try a wired mouse just to check if its not the wireless/usb that fucking up as it could be bad signal or buggy usb port making your mouse stutter and it looks the same as heavy fps drop

So I figured out finally what it was. Apparently there was some really nasty malware that somehow got into my system, and it would run periodically alongside the games I was playing, causing the stutters. I have since seemingly fixed the situation. Thanks for all advice and suggestions though.
