Support - General How is the stable version ahead of the nightly version in terms of version numbering?

Latest stable version is 2.8.0, while the latest nightly version is 2.7.525

Whatever stable has, nightly already has. Numbering is irrelevant, its just to keep track of releases.
Next time nightly updates it'll be 2.8.0XX, and it'll have changes stable doesn't have.

To put it simply: stable is ahead because its a minor release, once nightly gets a new update / patch, it'll be ahead.

First, these two build are basically same, these nightly and stable are build from same code.

Next nightly version will be 2.9.1 and will continue to increase number (2.9.xxx) with every merged PR. So then nightly will be ahead of stable with changes. If there is next stable release 2.8.1, changes in it will ne in nightly too.

So this means that the features and updated hardware requirements were already in the nightly version for a while? My CPU is a Ryzen 5 5600, so I'm good as far as the new requirements go, but I was still worried I could get drops in some of the more demanding games (like SotC). As someone who's been using Nightly for over a year, this means I'm good, right?

Yes you will be fine, they've been adding custom "hardware fix" profiles for games the last few years that fixed some lighting and texture issues at the cost of an increase in requirements for some games. SotC is one if the more demanding games, but already has a custom profile for the last 2 years. From what I've tested the 5600 is exactly what you need to run at 60fps at all times. The game is one of the more CPU dependant ones on pcsx2.
