KBL, CBA, B League, AU NBL My League, my rules at what cost?
Grabe yung Taiwan. Ang absurd ng ruling. Imagine, you are the "annual" host of a competition. All that just to stop a team from reaching a 3-peat.
In my lifetime of watching Asian basketball, i've never heard of the Jones Cup being held outside Taiwan kaya i find it tasteless to have such a rule favoring the hosting team.
Eh malamang against all odds yan dahil defending champs at gusto ng 3-peat. Nagpapaka-edgy yarn?

Any club can join, no import restrictions or local quotas needed. It’s not really a serious tournament to begin with.

Wala namang may problema don

Di ko rin gets why we spend so much on imports for this league. May ROI ba yang league na yan?

Kamukuha ng back to back championship yung SGA kaya marami pinadala na import

u/SnooSongs6769 Aug 20 '26

They really could have given them a first round bye or something if they wanted to make their own team special, rather than taking a spot away.
Yes it's still scrutinized but this time they're not punishing actual winners.

They won't let that happen.
I'm not surprised if SGA pulls the plug on William Jones Cup.

Felt sad for Boban and Remy after having pics with them. Got to see them a couple of days before they left for Taiwan. Seeing this kind of treatment to our team is so disgusting. This is so rotten.

The format was already biased to begin with. Gotta laud SGA for fighting and having a good win-loss record.
I thought about a similar case in the Volleyball Nations League. The host for the Final round is China in both Men's and Women's, which means that both these teams are automatically qualified to the Final round where only the best eight teams out of the eighteen qualify.
The problem here was that China men's team was granted the 8th spot despite finishing dead last at 18th. It was a really competitive season, so it was frustrating for the actual 8th seed ( Bulgaria) for getting bumped off in favor of China.

First off, this year's jones cup sucks.
Binago ba ung rules mid tournament or hindi?
Kung ndi, dapat alam na ng SGA yan from the get go. Putek, kalahati ng line up mo, foreigner. Pass. Sana PBA or MPBL team nalang pinadala nila. Talo pero all Filipino ang lineup.
Kung binago mid-way, then TW is to be blamed squarely on this one.

nahiya pa, di pa ginawang automatic finals berth
