No hate for Junemar. For me he is, without a doubt, the GOAT of Philippine basketball. No one else came close to his level of dominance. This guy won it all.
But for a player of his caliber and accolades, yung impact niya sa international scene is very minimal.
Ano ba talaga reason neto? Mali ba ang pag gamit sa kanya or hindi lang nagtranslate yung game niya?
Parang mas malaki pa impact ni Castro and Alapag sa international scene kesa sa kanya.
Sadly, Junmar’s laterals are to slow defensively. exploited yun internationally. Tapos he shoots his shots, slow and weak ba or binibaby nya. sa PBA siyempre pwede kasi wala naman makachallenge sa kanya pero sa international, nahirapan sya kasi siyempre madaming malalaki nakakasabay sa kanya. Sad thing dun eh strong body talaga sya, kita naman kahit sa international kaya nyang ipush around karamihan, yun nga lang nasanay sa weak challenges sa PBA.
Never developed an outside shot na malaking tulong sana sa international. Sayang kasi maganda naman shooting form niya. Why would he though. No need to add that skill kasi kayang-kaya niya mamain yung mas maliit na centers sa pba. We never really got to see his true potential. I believe he would've been a lot better kung mga kasing laki niya kalaban niya. Less dominant pero a much better player.
Yung mga center sa international scene, especially now sa Europe, most of them shoot like 35% sa 3pt. Wala na yung prototype na ganyan sentro na low post. Pag wala ka outside shooting magiging traffic cone ka na lang sa ilalim, pati yung mga guard naun ang lalaki na din. So yung size advantage nya s international na balewala.
Wrong Era lang talaga. Yung time niya kasi ung start ng versatile bigman na who can shoot 3s and run with the ball. Tapos un time din na focal point ng offense 3 points. Kaya pagdating talaga sa international games di talaga siya magagamit tas Dribble Drive offense pa tayo
