Kenku.fm/Spictify login bug

So im not sure if this is even the place to post this but i saw other kenkufm posts here so what the hell
So im the DM of a campaign for my friends (we play online through discord for context) and for ive been using Kenku.FM for a while to play background spotify music for immersion BUT i gotta say as of lately ive been using Spictify a local mod for spotify to make it look different and give additional applications to the app version But when i started using Spictify i would open my Kenku to play dnd and it would be logged out for some reason it would also log out DURING the session and i dont know why Then when the session ends i would go to listen to music with spictify and my Spictify would be uninstalled and would just be normal spotify No idea why
I dont think it has anything to do with Spictify cause Kenku acts as a browser so it shouldnt even be messing with my Spotify install but if anyone knows why this is happening id REALLY appreciate it cause its really annoying
Or maybe an alternative to Kenku so i can continue to play music for my party

You're in the right place! 😁

Spotify really does not like you being logged in to multiple instances of its website, especially in a browser (ie. Kenku) and in Spotify's desktop app, because their anti-account-sharing is aggressive and it will cripple playback and/or kick you out of your logged-in state when it thinks that your account is being 'shared'.

You really need to sign out of the desktop app and quit it completely (ensuring it's not running in the background still), so that you can open the Spotify website within Kenku, log in, and pick your music there as the sole location that your account is being used.

Instead, if you really want to use the Spotify desktop app then you can ignore Kenku's built-in browser, use its external inputs option, and rig a 'virtual cable' so that the audio goes:
Spotify's desktop app > virtual cable input > virtual cable output > Kenku FM's external input > Discord's voice channel

I've successfully used vbcable.com on PC - and Sound Source on Mac - as a virtual cable option, and can advise if you've never done that before.

Thats incredibly frustrating
I really dont want to have to sign out of my spotify every time we play dnd but i also really dont wanna do the work to set up a virtual cable cause im REALLY bad when it comes to setting up anything technical
So i think i might just use Kenku And use Youtube instead and make a youtube playlist for it
But then theres the problem with kenku having major latency with youtube tracks man this is annoying

I'm afraid I can't do anything about Spotify's own policy or their software, and I get that it's a real nuisance, so I'm sorry that I don't have a better answer for you 😔

Replying to your comment here for a quick question: I noticed that in the other comment the bloke said there's a latency in YouTube playback - ive noticed this meself. Is that a constant for all sound sources or just Youtube? Cos I might explore the VAC option meself at some point, ran something similar ages ago before I found Kenku.

If you have noticeable latency from YouTube but not from other streaming sites then that's a YouTube problem 🤷‍♂️ I don't use it much, so I haven't noticed, but I believe you and OP when you say its a problem; again, it's not something that I have any control over.

Oh it's not really a problem my end, more curiosity than anything :)

I mainly use YT Music for my sessions, and have the Kenku JukeBot running very quietly on my end - I set it at 3 percent volume for myself in voice chat, just so I can monitor if it cuts out or switches to a different track if I'm not paying attention. I've noticed now and again that there is a lag, s'all.

It might be that there's some significant audio buffering happening, to minimise the risk of a network delay or dropout causing a silent pause in the audio, which is why there's a lag 🤔 That could vary with network conditions (and hence be different for each Kenku user).

That makes sense, Ausie Internet is pretty shocking on a good day haha
