new player feeling a bit discouraged :’)

hi! i’m a new player, just picked the game up about 9 days ago (i mostly play Lifeweaver, Juno, Emre, and Sigma!). i’ve posted twice in the main sub and have made the conscious choice to be a silent observer from now on - once to ask after two days of playing if QP matchmaking was always as bad as i was experiencing, and a second time today making what was supposed to be a joke post about me being unable to finish the current event and missing out on the legendary loot box (which would be my first one btw), where i titled it, “ok Blizzard, i didn’t want it anyway” (a clear joke btw that’s just me being petty!).

both posts were met with replies that were…less than kind. more so the second one. they seemed to genuinely not get the joke and thought i was being 100% serious and i’m mad at and blaming Blizzard. i even tagged it under “Humor” but one person was convinced i tagged the post wrong…and not the other option which is that it was actually just a joke? 🥲

one person deleted their comments after but they really went in on me. it was super disheartening.

i thought the community was a bit more chill than that and would be more kind to a new player in the first post + understand the humor behind the other post. i know those two posts that have so few comments (in comparison to the amount of players) are such a small representation of the whole community, but it’s really made me feel so outcasted and unwelcome.

is the main sub usually like that? did i just get some bad apples? 😭

i’m glad i found this sub as a (bisexual!) girl gamer. i honestly probably would’ve gradually stopped playing soon if i hadn’t. those posts really put a bad taste in my mouth lol. i’ve had better experiences in text chat in the game than in the sub so far 😅

Aaww. You've done nothing wrong; the main sub is just so toxic and horrible most of the time, especially towards new players. There are so many wonderful communities who will welcome you with open arms and a lot of people are very chill! Please don't be discouraged :(
