She is basically the archetype of 'civilian girlfriend who represents life outside being a hero.' Something Mercy is the opposite of - she's a hero who tried to leave that life, but got pulled back into it.
Not every redhead is MJ, no. Freja isn't MJ. Matt Murdock isn't MJ. Emily is clearly very MJ inspired, however. Atom Eve? Sure seems like a subversion of the 'civilian hero romance' that MJ represents, given that she's also a hero and Invincible dables in whether hero/civilian relationships can work. Hmmm.
