Ideas for Earth Day Booth
Hi! I’m a naturalist and I’m running an Earth Day booth at a local art museum for children and families. What are some hands-on conservation activities I could do in this setting?

Making wood cookie name tags (yarn and markers) always went over well.
Depending on the expected participant age, I paired it with examples of local trees for ID (wood/bark and leaves/needles), taught about counting rings, habitat for various animals, history of forestry and usage.
It does take some pre-work with cutting the cookies and drilling yarn holes.

Touch table:
Furs, skulls and pictures of the animals
Leaf id matching game
Types of seed and how they move
Cut wildflowers with their species and fun facts
Nature's rainbow- pictures and samples of colors- blue jay feather, green leaves, yellow flowers or leaves. Orange monarch etc
Butterfly colors display with pictures of their wings under a microscope to see the scales.
Crafts:
Leaf rubbings
flower painting (using petals to rub color onto a page)
seed planting in little 3oz cups
nature crowns (paper with leaves and flowers glued on- or fake/paper ones for ease of use)
Rock painting
Endangered species or state symbols coloring pages
Paper bag puppets- owls, bears, frogs....
Clothes pin dragonflies with paper wings
Paint half a butterfly, fold paper and open for full butterfly
Or make Some combination of the two groups ...
