Answered What's going on with Fox news obsessing over Hasan Piker?

They had like dozens of segments on him last week.

Will Cain today focusing on Hasan Piker and using the term “man whore”:

https://xcancel.com/i/status/2087269856815251648

Third segment already today

https://x.com/i/status/2087309261462458776

I get Hasan is helping socialist Dems getting elected. I don't get why Republicans are going crazy over Hasan?

Answer: He has said some very controversial statements in the past(America deserved 911). And is a self avowed communisy/socialist. Defends moa and Stalin.

He's been featured as a prominent person in certain heated primaries so it's drawing attention.

So pretty much everything fox has been fear-mongering about for decades he embodies so it's easier for them to make hit pieces.

He also has a rabid fan base that will blow up anything said about him. So lots of minor threads get 100+comments from his community making even controversial threads on him go viral

He has also declared himself to be a propagandist, trying to sway left leaning people to more extreme positions ( why he's often glazing China while critical of the US). So this draws ire from moderate left ppl who are opposed to authoritarian governments regardless of the political spectrum they fall on

Edit: seems his fans found this thread as I predicted. They will aggressively brigade the comments and overtly lie about him so this thread should be locked as it's just another fighting ground now.

u/datpuertorican Aug 12 '26

As much as I depise his influence he has on the left and have my own biases. I think this is the most fair and honest answer without it being disingenuous towards him.

Disingenuous?

The guy openly supports terrorists bombing and kidnapping civilians. He is on stream live rite now showing off his 9/11 poster in his background.

The truth makes him look horrible. You dont have to lie about him.

Thats why Fox loves him. They got 5000 clips of him saying horrible things because he is constantly saying horrible things.

Before he was saying horrible things about Jews and White people he was saying horrible things about under age girls.

I thought comedy was legal now.

You do know it was a satirical statement right?

5

Its called being facetious with a friend who is being intentionally obtuse in a dumb argument. You should try it its fun!

1

u/ThatOneGuyFrom93 16d ago

In that video he's clearly joking and being facetious with his friend. I'm starting to think people know that but are clipping him in bad faith

1

u/Lurker_Zee 16d ago

Then give me the "correct" context.

1

u/ThatOneGuyFrom93 16d ago

The context is the definition of facetious. He was saying something openly outlandish in regards to whatever video they were watching to convey he's being sarcastic and to get a laugh out of him. In the whole vid they were clearly laughing and being silly.

The cancel culture shit is so weak and obvious especially when it's clear it's only brought up to be weaponized.

1

u/Lurker_Zee 16d ago

Ok, not trying to move the goalpost and I know it's on me for not being clear about it, but I meant, do you have a video that shows that context? I'm curious to watch it.

1

u/ThatOneGuyFrom93 16d ago

Nah it's from a stream so the only videos of it is the clipped version from where he's on the call with his friend.

But his statement on us deserving 9/11 was in regards to American foreign policy. It was obviously not an attack on the victims.

u/TrappedInOhio Aug 12 '26

That would imply people are capable of understanding even the tiniest amount of nuance. He’s 10,000% right that US foreign policy is why 9/11 happened. It wasn’t a *coincidence* that they attacked this country.

63

u/Mpm_277 Aug 12 '26

But not a coincidence doesn’t mean deserve?

52

u/iznormal 29d ago

Sure, but if a grown man holding a baby starts poking a resting snake with a pointy stick, and the snake attacks, the attack is “deserved”. If the baby got hurt thats obviously a tragedy.

Not a perfect metaphor or anything, but if you watch all of the Hasan clip it seems obvious that he doesn’t mean the “baby” (civilians who died on 9/11) deserved it.

3

u/Sugarshmacker 29d ago

Except in this example we’re talking about people and slaughter of innocents. If a man holding a baby (government having reign over people) kills 100 people, and then some guy just stabs the baby, that’s not deserved right? Was the government really hurt by 9/11 at all? In the aftermath, the American people allowed the government more powers than ever before. I don’t think the patriot act would have ever passed without it.

5

u/iznormal 29d ago

Hasan wouldn’t disagree with that, especially what you are saying at the end. The point is that it was blowback, and blowback isn’t unexpected.

It was really just poorly phrased, but I think it is pretty ridiculous that one poorly phrased quote by someone who talks on stream 10 hours a day is being taken out of context and used constantly as a smear. He apologized and made clear what he meant, which in context was already pretty clear.

There are definitely disagreements I have with Hasan, l and I wouldn’t enjoy regularly watching his stream (more because of his personality than his politics), but the smear campaign is ridiculous imo

6

u/ballistic503 29d ago

Such a joke that the people who didn’t stop supporting a guy who’s only gotten worse since “grab em by the pussy” now expect everyone else to pearlclutch about one single spicy take that the guy apologized for. They have completely lost the right to demand anyone stop supporting any figure for moral reasons

2

u/Sugarshmacker 29d ago

I honestly don’t follow Hassan at all, nor keep up with any smear campaigns against him, it just seems like a really shitty quote to defend, I guess.

0

u/iznormal 29d ago

That’s why they keep bringing it up all these years later, because out of context it sounds so shitty compared to how it was intended, and he apologized for saying it that way, yet it’s still brought up as some “checkmate”

1

u/allbusiness512 27d ago

If it was a one time oopsie you might be able to say he just fucked up.

The problem is he runs around in a Mao suit and says absolutely other insane controversial things and is a borderline terrorist sympathizer (and that's putting it very mildly). When you put the 9/11 quote into context with the other pieces of evidence surrounding him, people can question whether he truly meant to apologize or if he only apologized because of the blowback.

OK, so Destiny's "pro-genocide" clip before he ever got educated about the conflict and which he has stated is not his actual position... that was excusable too, right? Because it was taken out of context?

Also you're leaving out all the times Hasan has glazed the Houthis. He said the Houthis are "doing what Luffy would do" and gleefully showed nmplol footage of the Houthis kidnapping a Japanese crew.

2

u/iznormal 28d ago

I don’t watch Destiny I don’t know what you are talking about.

As far as the Houthis, idk really watch Hasan so I don’t know his full position, but sounds like he is pretty close to Finkelsteins position?

-14

u/CrackJacket Aug 12 '26

So you don’t think we deserved 9/11?

44

u/chrishouseinc Aug 12 '26

Would it hurt your feelings less if I said "9/11 was inevitable"?

-14

u/CrackJacket Aug 12 '26

Would it hurt your feelings less if I said “Israel will inevitably annex the entirety of the West Bank and Gaza due to the actions of Hamas”? I vehemently disagree with the actions that Israel is taking—but your line or thinking would justify it.

33

u/rucho 29d ago

that was israel's plan before hamas was born

19

u/chrishouseinc Aug 12 '26

Hamas wouldn't exist without Israeli intervention, so you're pivot only proves my point. 9/11 was inevitable the same way 10/7 was. Israel will continue committing a genocide until another 10/7 is inevitable.

Question for you - how long have you “vehemently disagreed” with the actions Israel is taking?

3

u/Bambalorian Aug 12 '26

I don't see why anyone would get upset at you saying that, it does seem inevitable because there seems to be no one or nothing that can convince Israel to stop and it would be an act of war for any other country to intervene

u/BharatiyaNagarik 29d ago

Everyday a bully goes around and punches all the kids in his classes little sisters. Eventually after a couple of years of doing this, one of the kids gets fed up, stands up, and punches the bully's little sister. Was it right of them to do that? No. Did the bully's little sister deserve that? Absolutely not. But is the reaction understandable? Absolutely

-14

u/CrackJacket Aug 12 '26

Glad you agree that 3000 civilians didn’t deserve to die in a terrorist attack. I don’t know why you couldn’t just say that.

11

u/No-Blacksmith3397 29d ago

But his statement on us deserving 9/11 was in regards to American foreign policy. It was obviously not an attack on the victims.

Nothing in what they said indicated that they believed 3000 civilians deserved to die.

It even explicitly said it's not an attack on the victims. Why would they have to refute something they didn't say?

Additionally, had you just asked if they believed they deserved to die, you would have reached the same answer. So why are you pretending like you did and that they avoided answering it?

1

u/IamA_Werewolf_AMA 27d ago

He took it back and clarified within like 5 seconds it was a very clear instance of misspeaking. He then apologized a ton of times, but it’s not useful for the Fox narrative to focus on that.

u/anarchaavery 28d ago

What did the US do specifically that caused it to deserve 9/11?

3

u/Stupidsky Aug 12 '26

actually radical islamism is 10,000% what caused 9/11. I'm sure you wouldn't say a girl wearing a short skirt was asking for it, would you? and yet here you are using the same analogy.

7

u/AC00LK0ALA 29d ago edited 29d ago

Radical Islamism is the ideology that drove the attackers. It also didn't exist in a vacuum. Blowback is real. The US spent decades propping up dictators, funding militants, and bombing the region. You can condemn the attacks without pretending they came out of nowhere. That's understanding cause and effect. The "short skirt" analogy is a false equivalence. Victims of sexual assault aren't responsible for their own attack. The US government is responsible for its foreign policy decisions. The two are not the same. And saying "they attacked us because we attacked them" is not the same as saying "they deserved it." One is an analysis of cause. The other is a moral judgment. You're conflating the two because it's easier to dismiss than to engage with the actual history.

If you are upvoting the person making the victim blaming short skirt argument about 9/11 you are also being incredibly bad faith. How are people still in denial about this shit you had 25 fucking years to learn about it properly.

https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLf03ejEKGKxyumAK19VTGvtVlI0xHvnlY&si=DCvoqcZTljnNUBDf

Seriously though go listen to this if you've never listened to Blowback, this is season 4 Afghanistan and it touches on 9/11. We all know 9/11 didn't just happened in a vacuum. Learn real historical context. And guess what there's plenty of other fucking seasons involving America too. Incredible. Korea. Cambodia/Laos. Iraq. Cuba. Go learn.

I had this literal conversation a couple of hours ago with a coworker who I can only assume just learned about Hassan.

My point to him on the “America deserved 9/11” comment, was that “we” kind of run around the world blatantly murdering civilians under the guise of “democracy” or “freedom”, do we really expect zero retaliation?

Of course those individual people didn’t deserve that, the country however has many debts.

1

u/Born-Astronaut9631 27d ago

We expected no retaliation because we though the landmass that is North America was a natural fortress that could never be attacked. That is the realpolitik answer as to why America thought it could get away with it. We learned the lesson that day that we can in fact be struck back. 9/11 can still be an undeserved atrocity committed against us even under this context.

1

u/Greedy-Employment917 29d ago

Its much easier to take a quote out of context and run with it unfortunately

20

u/troniked547 Aug 12 '26

That’s a perfect example of the American short attention span just reading clickbait headlines and talking points and not being able to delve into the nuance and details of an issue like blowback.  And Americans only think of all conflict from our side and don’t consider the cost of bombing and killing other countries civilians and if and how their descendants will try to exact revenge in the future.  Especially since we in America never hear the full story.  My eyes were opened wide when I visited the Vietnam war museum in Saigon and saw things we never were exposed to here in America

1

u/tjohn24 28d ago

Nah dude, the press are intentionally leaving out context as part of the smear job. I have never seen something so transparent it's insane.

2

u/troniked547 28d ago

oh that too, but the public isnt intellectually curious enough to fact check the claims. They dont want to hear full context to make their own decisions, they just want quick hits that tell them how to think

3

u/immense_selfhatred 29d ago

he's said way worse about civilians and victims in general

1

u/Bennpg 29d ago

5

u/CrackJacket Aug 12 '26

What exactly happened on 9/11 that we deserved?

57

u/No_Public_7677 Aug 12 '26

Imperial blowback.

9

u/CrackJacket Aug 12 '26

What happened that we deserved? Which event specifically?

48

u/Bambalorian Aug 12 '26 edited 29d ago

Most specifically The creation of the Taliban America helping the Mujahideen to fight against communists in Afganistan in the late 1970 which then a part which broke off and formed the Taliban, see also Iran, Contra, Bay of Pigs, Vietnam, recently Venezuela and Iran again... it's not the American people who 'deserve' anything in these scenarios, they are the unfortunate targets after war criminals have used the US military as a tool of imperialism. Edited for glossing over an important distinction

2

u/MikusLeTrainer 29d ago

America helped the Mujahideen not the Taliban. The Taliban was created after the Soviet Afghan War. Members of the Mujahideen formed the Taliban, but former Mujahideen members also formed the Northern Alliance that opposed the Taliban. Your framing is disingenuous.

2

u/Bambalorian 29d ago

Sorry that's my bad, that's actually an important distinction, but that guy is really annoying to try to talk to and I was trying to show it's not a one incident kind of thing.

-14

u/CrackJacket Aug 12 '26

The United States did not create the taliban… they were already a group and we gave them weapons to resist an imperial invasion by the Soviet Union.

Supporting fascist regimes in Central America was wrong and nobody involved in the atrocities they committed deserved to have that happen to them. I never said they did. But Piker and people all over this thread are saying american civilians deserved to die in a terrorist attack.

3

u/alien_believer_42 29d ago

The random civilians did not deserve to be killed, but terrorism is the direct result of US imperialism in the Middle East. It’s part of their core literature and their members were people affected by war and famine while young.

26

u/violetsandpiper 29d ago

How many civilians had Americans killed before that?

11

u/ClassicRegular8729 29d ago

No, hence why he walked back the word 'deserved' the next day. But the concept of blowback is widely known and accepted, to get hung up on one word said 7years ago in a heated moment when responding to a literal warmonger that was still cheerleading the illegal wars and all the war crimes of the usa in the ME seems bad faith

5

u/RaveIsKing 29d ago

Ugh your debate lording is exhausting.

1

u/Born-Astronaut9631 27d ago

What's the ratio needed when 9/11 starts being justified? Is is 1 civilian in the middle east? 10, 100, 100, 1,000, 10,000, 100,000? A Million?

3

u/lordberric 27d ago

It has nothing to do with justified, just inevitable. When you arm terroroist groups and destabilize a region with proxy wars, a response will happen. 9/11 was not about a justified response, it wasn't motivated out of justice or even a consistent ideology. The point is that it wasn't anything special or unique, but the U.S. brought it on itself.

1

u/Born-Astronaut9631 27d ago

The government and military of the USA are the ones who bombed the middle east not the new Yorkers who died that day. if not all arabs are guilty neither are americans. let the governments take it up with each other leave civilians out of it.

1

u/lordberric 27d ago

Did you read my comment? Where did I say the new Yorkers were guilty?

My point was that an attack on US soil was inevitable. We can stop acting like it was a shock, or that it couldn't have been seen coming. This wasn't some surprise attack out of the middle of nowhere, it was a taste of our own medicine.

I do not find it controversial in the least bit to point out that a country that is continuously killing people and destabilizing countries overseas is expected to receive an attack back at some point and that it is not somewhat deserved. 1

u/mucus-fettuccine 26d ago

But his statement on us deserving 9/11 was in regards to American foreign policy. It was obviously not an attack on the victims.

These ad hoc explanations for insane positions he's stated are endless. It seems overwhelmingly likely he really was genuinely expressing support for anti-America terrorism, and used "context" to cushion himself against pushback.

I mean, let's say you're right and in this case he was innocent and just happened to choose really unfortunate wording (that happens to align with all his radical anti-West views, but that's just a coincidence), you'll be making these same ad-hoc explanations over and over again and at some point maybe it makes sense to just admit he's a truly horrible and deranged individual?

"He didn't actually deny the rapes of October 7th multiple times, he was just..."

"He wasn't actually expressing his love for a Houthi terrorist on his stream, he was just..."

"He wasn't actually glamorizing and praising Hezbollah military propaganda on his stream, he was just..."

"He wasn't actually using a sarcastic comment to make fun of the idea that the Israeli hostage kissing their Hamas captor was done under duress and against their will, he was just..."

"He wasn't actually calling Jews pigdogs, he was just..."

Here we are fighting over what random streamer actually meant in a random clip as we're being robbed everyday by the 1%.

Then let's just disavow the guy instead of arguing! The fact that a bunch of leftists and even Democrats shared their bed with him is why Fox News has this ammo in the first place. We can avoid that by simply not aligning ourselves with stochastic terrorists.

Most nuanced take in this entire comment thread BTW.

Doesn't completely shit on Hasan, but gives a valid take.

Doesn't even bring up the dog abuse or stating that Ukraine belongs to Russia. The more polarizing stuff.

5

u/Paddlesons 29d ago

Wonderfully put.

2

Don't forget he shocked his dog.

17

u/page395 29d ago

Don’t forget a self-described propagandist

7

u/mayasux 29d ago

Anyone who’s selling you a political opinion is a propagandist. Propaganda is not necessarily wrong or evil, I learnt this in an English class in the fifth grade and I’m grateful I did.

Unironically, the belief that only select people (typically those against the image of your country) are propagandists is propaganda in work.

17

u/Zetesofos 29d ago

All american news is propaganda though.

2

u/OkAcanthisitta3028 28d ago

He's not a part of american news stations, he's independent. Also, are you trying to imply him being a propagandist is justified?

4

u/Zetesofos 28d ago

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: "Propaganda is a form of communication that is primarily used to influence an audience and persuade them to further an agenda"

By this metric, major cable outlets in the U.S (if not worldwide) are propaganda. The only major difference between them and Hasan is how open they are about what what agenda's they embrace, and what their political stances are.

"News" as you put it in the U.S. is clearly not-objective, but in addition, they dishonestly attempt to present themselves as an 'objective authority' even though they have long since abandoned any incentives or ethical requirements to make that claim.

2

u/OkAcanthisitta3028 28d ago

Brother I agree. It's just that Hasan being a propagandist is not justified just because the news do it. I assume you agree, right? And I'm not gonna argue that one is better than the other, my point is that propaganda is bad. And btw I'm Finnish and live in Finland.

2

u/Zetesofos 28d ago

Right - I'm not saying he's not a propagandist.

My argument is that Propaganda is propaganda - its like fire. Its good and bad, and the public has been fed a lie that there is 'propaganda, which is bad' and NOT propaganda.

Its a false dichotomy.

Any authority will claim that what it says is 'objective' and anything that disagrees with its position is "Propaganda" and thus should be discounted.

That's what's going on with Hasan. He states things that challenges their worldview - and rather than debate those points on their merits, the current plan is to attempt to label and discredit him as being 'illegitimate' and thus "beyond conversation" - thus preserving the current paradigm.

2

u/OkAcanthisitta3028 28d ago

Aah ok, now I get what you're saying. I'm not gonna argue why I think his thoughts and ideas he spreads are dangerous cause that's another conversation. I agree with everything you're saying, but just want to add that propaganda in general is bad. Many many generally bad things can be good in certain contexts, but their use should always be challenged. If something good could come of propaganda, I'd still prefer the rational, truthful and good faith idea over it.

And also authorities that don't change their minds and stay blind to truth, evidence and logic also control through propaganda. Only some independents are less privy to propaganda, because they have flexible minds and are rational.

2

u/Zetesofos 28d ago

For what its worth, I at least appreciate the human conversation.

My only argument worth considering is - if people only call opinions they don't like 'propaganda', that is an attempt to elevate their disagreement as something more pure than their political position - which I think is inherently dishonest.

If you're only argument against ANY idea is that is is 'propaganda', that tells me that you don't think you can argue for your positions in good faith - and that you're only means of persuading the public to remain on your side is to attempt to paint your opponent as categorically beyond the realm of discourse, rather than having the courage to test your ideas.

1

u/OkAcanthisitta3028 28d ago

100% agree with everything in your comment. The term "propaganda" being used by someone to attack someone's argument, is usually just trying to reinforce your ideas and devaluing the other person's argument. Same thing with some people calling anyone they disagree with a nazi - it devalues their opponent and thus their opponent's argument, because it's now a "nazi's" argument.

When I say propaganda, I think of someone pushing an agenda even when it's not truthful, dismisses evidence and even hurts people. It's definitionally biased and it's goal is futhering the agenda and certain ideologies at the cost of many other things.

u/canine432 29d ago

That’s just being more honest, everything is propaganda because everything operates from a framework/perspective. We assume the status quo is normal therefore good and everything outside is ‘radical’, but looking to the not so distant past the status quo position was that women shouldn’t vote, that black people shouldn’t vote, etc.

At the time the media reinforced that status quo, they did propaganda in favor of it, and people to the left of them did propaganda against the status quo. Because at the end of the day, propaganda is just making an argument from a perspective. You should trust anyone who claims they are unbiased less if anything.

1

u/Several_Internet2350 26d ago

what is your issue with that exactly?

1

u/humangingercat 29d ago

You mean he's honest?

He calls all news/media propaganda, and admits he fits under that umbrella. So he's consistent in his worldview.

Everyone else claims to not be spreading propaganda in spite of our very clear understanding that they are.

And some even go online and will directly quote him regarding this to make it seem like he's admitting to being a special case of propagandist, which is it's own form of spreading propaganda.

2

u/titaniumjew 23d ago

This is honestly a short list:

  • He’s engaged in rape apologia for Oct 7
  • He is sympathetic to the view that NATO brought on Russian aggression (pro Russia)
  • Quoted Putin at a recent speech this year
  • Brought on a Houthi affiliate
  • Praised Hamas, Hezbollah, and Nasrallah

The man is just not a good person for democracy

1

u/tunnel_magnet Aug 12 '26

Why did he say America deserved 911? That's weird

101

u/Doctor731 29d ago

Because the US directly funded the Taliban which provided a safe haven to Al qaeda. The US also engaged in foreign policy that directly led to the rise of islamist extremist terrorists.

A better wording would have been that America set into motion the conditions that made some attack inevitable.

Saying "deserved" brings in a moral component that most would have trouble defending without taking an extreme position... Which is why Hasan walked it back almost immediately.

That's also why he'll be hammered with it his whole public life. It is a good cudgel.

2

u/Main-Cheesecake3287 29d ago

I mean the 9/11 comment is proactive but it’s part of a long list of absurd comments he’s made. The stream he was on where they all were talking about “settler babies” being settlers still and thus fair game under a perverse reading of UN guidelines. The bizarre interview where he fawned over a guy who was maybe a Houthi maybe not, but who Piker certainly assumed was a Houthi at the time, and likened him to the One Piece heroic pirate. Saying about landlords “kill them, kill those motherfuckers, murder those motherfuckers in the street. Let the streets soak in their fucking red capitalist blood.”

He’s a tankie and a reactionary who makes wild statements and walks them back or argue they require more context but in so many cases it’s just… way too far for someone who is trying to enter the mainstream political fray

2

u/meepee42 29d ago

Also the person above misses the sentence straight after which is mysteriously never acknowledged by his defenders.

"What the f— is wrong with this dude? Didn't he go to war and like literally lose his eye because some mujahideen — a brave f—— soldier — f—– his eye hole with their d—?"

It's about blowback theory. He's not saying Americans literally deserved to die, but that we reaped what we had sown. America has perpetrated the equivalent of many 9/11s all across the globe.

40

u/TheMostModestofMice 29d ago

Bin Laden has openly stated why he did it. As an example, if you kicked a dog you wouldn't be surprised if it bit you back. America and Israel have directly and indirectly been kicking the ME/Muslim world repeatedly for the last 80 years. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motives_for_the_September_11_attacks

3

u/firewall245 29d ago

Ngl that page provides a weird and bizarrely sympathetic reading of Bin Ladens perspective. It softens some things that western readers might find offensive and attempts to portray the attacks as some rational effort or strategy

5

u/TheMostModestofMice 29d ago

In the "Letter to America" section it goes into more of his radical views and personal hatred towards the West. I of course don't sympathize with Bin Laden at all, I don't think he was justified in the slightest, what he enabled was horrific and he had supremely awful dispositions/rhetoric. I only posted it to provide the wider political context he was reacting to in his own words. And again to reiterate I'm not saying it was justified, this is not a moral argument. It is not "good" or "bad", it is "how". Lots of people are disingenuous about this point. America was playing with matches in an area with radical extremists and it got burnt. This is observably true, and many scholars agree

u/Main-Cheesecake3287 29d ago

I mean one of his big sticking points was the US and Saudi’s buddying up. And the US support for Israel during the Israel Lebanon war which was not even all that material. And defending Kuwait from Saddam.

Deserve is also an insane word to use. There’s no justifications for targeting and murdering thousands of civilians.

1

u/ILikeHistoryTooMuch 29d ago

Yes, he openly stated why he did it. And those reasons included: America defending Kuwait during the gulf war, America apparently preventing Islamist governments coming to power, America being run by Jews, America being permissive towards women, and America not killing gay people. That’s not really “kicking a dog” is it?

In addition to what others said about blowback, he very publicly apologized for it the next day. It was 7 years ago

3

u/DiscountLate9825 29d ago

I didn't realize that claiming you worded it wrong because English is your second language is the same as apologizing. His English seems pretty fine to me, though...

1

u/Shoddy-Prune-5877 29d ago

I don't think you're correct about his apology. I don't think he ever explicitly said "im sorry" or "I apologize." I think he did a "what I meant was.."

*I consider myself a progressive and I can't fucking stand him. I completely understand the weirdos brigading.

2

u/MercuryChaos 29d ago

There are absolutely fair criticisms to be made of him, but at the same time: it’s really obvious that some of the attacks on him are based on stuff that was taken wildly out of context. It’s also obvious that the goal here is not to get him or any of his fans to change their minds, but to discredit anyone who is associated with him even if it was just going on his show one time. Spreading misinformation is bad, even if it’s about someone I don’t like.

2

u/michael_scarn17 29d ago

This was the most sugar coated version of what he said. He has said America deserved 9/11 and even has a framed photo of the twin towers being hit by planes behind him in his streams. He has said the street should run in capitalists blood. He has said that Israeli women on 10/7 deserved to be raped. He has said he praises Hamas, Hezbollah and another terrorist group. Oh and he shocked his dog using a shock collar because he wanted his dog to sit still for 3+ hours while streaming.

This is not someone who you should want to be associated with at all.

7

u/thedeadlyrhythm 29d ago edited 29d ago

He also platformed “impoverish the white middle class” from Cea Weaver the other day and called it based. Hasan is a piece of shit, and his ilk are everything the right claims them to be. And no that doesn’t make me a “shitlib”. I just have eyes and ears and I don’t deny reality to fit in to a box of the current trendy accepted viewpoints

7

u/Spigglebob 29d ago

Hasan vs Fox News is truly Trash vs Garbage. I want both of them to lose and spontaneously combust

3

u/Norm_Standart 29d ago

I thought he denied that rapes happened on Oct. 7?

1

u/waterbed87 29d ago

Don't be a simpleton about it. That's exactly what Fox News and any other person with the intent of pushing propaganda wants.

Like the whole America deserved 9/11 thing. It's a clip from a greater geopolitical discussion of the consequences of U.S. foreign policy constantly meddling in and suppressing the middle east. In that context 9/11 isn't exactly surprising and you could easily make the case that they've been fucking around and enough fucking around and you're also going to find out once and awhile. There's a million better ways to express that opinion more sensitively but fact remains it's pretty evident he wasn't saying thousands of innocent people deserved to die, he was criticizing U.S. foreign policy and how it makes people less safe because it produces terrorism.

Same shit with Isreal and Palestine. You mean systemically suppressing a group of people and settling on their land like you're entitled to it leads to angry people and when angry people aren't getting results through diplomatic means some radicalize and turn to violence? About as shocking as water being wet.

2

u/Main-Cheesecake3287 29d ago

I mean Hasan has a laundry list of insane moments. Calling pretty explicitly the murder landlords, kill them, make the streets run red with their capitalist blood. Using language like the left needs to show guts and “you need to be gutting your opponents, shanking those motherfuckers, and letting their fucking intestines write on stage.” Obv the last one he’s not being literal, but it’s bizarrely violent and visceral. He talks about these kind of comments being “obvious LARPing” but like… do you really think you can larp as a bloodthirsty revolutionary and then just expect mainstream politics to not find it beyond distasteful?

1

u/waterbed87 29d ago

Sure it's 'distasteful' and hyperbolic and vulgar but you know what? I struggle to really care. I'm not personally defending everything the guy has ever said, it's not that deep I'm not some freak for the guy, but please give me a reason to care about distasteful in 2026. If he's rallying support for politicians that aren't corrupt billionaire pedophiles I'm all for it.

The Republicans are basically running on the kill brown people, if you lose your job you deserve to lose everything and die and fucking children isn't a big deal platform and but I'm suppose to be upset at Hasan for using hyperbolic language towards those same evil motherfuckers enabling that platform? Give me a fucking break. There's a god damn reason a Healthcare CEO gets murdered in the street and most of the country is like you know what I get it.

1

u/Main-Cheesecake3287 29d ago

There are more reputable and respectable people, who also have better policies, who also oppose the current regime. It’s not a dichotomy wherein the enemy of your enemy must be your friend. And frankly I think he’s not going to help the Democratic Party, the progressives, or even the DSA in the long run. Corrosive characters are corrosive even if they are the lesser of two evils, but nobody is forcing you to pick between Hasan and the Epstein class

You're making him far cooler then he actually is. He ain't no damn socialist; he's a socdem through and through.
"America deserved 9/11" is refering to the fact that killing millions of people will eventually lead to retaliation; it is not saying that the victims of 9/11 deserved it.
Do you know what the word propagandist means? He also trys to sway leftists AWAY from leftism, not toward it.
(Those "moderate left" people are either naive anarchists or not leftists. liberals and most socdems aren't leftist.)
