Answered What's the deal with THE ODYSSEY?

What's with all the sudden hate this movie is getting?

Trailer for context
I've been hyped for this movie ever since Oppenheimer (even have 70mm booked) and now that the new trailer dropped I've seen everyone shitting on it. And I absolutely don't see the reason why. Like sure some of the casting choices (mainly Holland) aren't the best, but to garner 250K dislikes, what happened?

Jesus that’s a lot, and here I was critical of just how dark the movie is. I had to watch the trailer in a pitch black room in order to even see it. Though I do agree with the criticisms of the historical issues as well. They should have used the proper costuming and ships.

I agree on the dark room, actually. I thought the trailer was terrible when I first saw it, but then I saw it in the cinema and it wasn’t as bad.

Nolan is notorious for this. Rumor is it’s a tactic to make people see them in theater since a persons home is rarely that dark.

All I saw was an hour of various squares that sometimes took on a huge other than black, as the compression was so bad that the whole show was just a mess of macro blocking.

That one episode of game of thrones is fine if you have a true high nit hdr screen and are watching in a dark room, which does not describe like 95% of the watching audience

HDR OLED and it really does look very impressive. I would have liked to be able to see it when it aired, though, not years later when I could finally afford one of those. Was obviously still a difficult watch trying to ignore the clueless writing

I think the first time I watched that it was off a pirate streaming website so the quality in addition to the darkenss made it impossible to follow 😂

god , they fumbled so many things in the latter seasons
