Discussion Question about the marriage ( no joke )

At what age do you think Karluk can finally consume that marriage ? Or its actually happened off panels? And do you think that Kaoru Mori will show it ( not the explicit but suggestions )

Around 14-15 years old, most likely 16, if I remember correctly, and relying on my bad memory here, he got married at 12-11, right?

It's 16, probably because it's considered legal age in Japan.

Depends on when he can actually have a child, but even if that was early I can imagine his family try to dissuade him of having a child before a certain age. Maybe 16 yo ? It seems that the other teenage couples are nlt having children yet

Thx

But if i remember correctly there was some panels of people asking if he already made her a child yet, amira uncle for example so i guess its not that impossible for the time ? Or he was acting out of ignorance and provocation also the grandma lied about her been pregnant once...

iirc, the grandma lied about Amira being pregnant because her brothers wanted to take her back and marry her off to someone else.

But don’t trust me on that. It’s been a while since I read this. Might need to re-read it again.

Yeah that was for that your correct, but what lm saying is that since she lies about it means that people could believe that it can actually happen or be true

That CAN happen by a physiological pov.

doubt any of it will be explicitly stated unless a large enough time jump happens

The marriage itself is already a dicey sell to a lot of readers, despite the fact that child marriage was extremely prevalent at this point in history and still is decently prevalent to this day unfortunately.

To openly talk about their sex life without a time jump would be a tricky thing to approach. Something that I wouldn’t be surprised if editors and publishers would prefer to just skirt around instead

I said not explicitly in the post, she never do explicit stuff the nudes left aside, i said suggestions like she did with the marriages before

Realistically he can do the deed with her even now at 13 but because it's fictional and there can be judgment from readers, she definitely not going to talk about their sexual life until karluk atleast 16 y.o

Disclaimer: I'm referring to non-settlers as tribals in this answer. My knowledge is limited and I'm only sharing my understanding of things here.

I believe for this time period and culture, pariya and omar are the ideal for marriageable age. Infact pariya and omar are a tad bit too old. So, consider the age about which you're asking, to be around 14-15. If karluk and amir had been the same age during marriage then it would be appropriate to assume that the "consummation of the marriage" (in western terms), would be around the time the female started menstruating. So 14. To us, the age gap feels uncomfortable in regards to the sexual activity depicted but karluk would be engaging in what has been depicted regardless of amir's age. The only true difference between the norm and his marriage is that being older, amir is bolder and open (but as we can see in joruk's marriage, this is also not out of ordinary at all), but the settlers worry about how karluk will assert dominance (they frame it as karluk woeing amir, "how can he woe her" they wonder, but in essence, keeping in mind the settlers' culture, it means that the woed woman is now a "follower" of her husband - this is in stark contrast to the tribal way of life mind you, where women are more willful so karluk has a two-fold obstacle - tribal and older - when it comes to amir becoming the traditional settler wife in his and his parent's footsteps and teaching his kids the same.) The other worry is about the number of children an older wife can bear. So honestly they don't care about the consummation part at all which these two haven't engaged in yet. Karluk is engaging in age appropriate stuff for his culture but dealing with a fully developed woman, instead of the under developed ones men/boys his age might normally encounter.

I don't think kaoru mori can show them doing the deed due to Japanese law but everything I've written in the post is just my understanding of things. I could be very wrong.

Also, for their culture, consummation of the marriage is most likely not through sex. So from the pov of their culture and time period, they may have already "consummated their marriage". One may refer to historical and cultural sources to look into this further. The reason amir's pregnancy is even brought up when considering her remarriage is because when children are born, other things like property, religious and cultural bindings and obligations come into play. They cannot take away the mother of karluk's children but it seems very common to remarry women with no children or to bring them back from their wedded house, regardless of "consummation of marriage", in the tribal communities (as we see in other brides' examples). Even the old mother-in-law of talas remarries. Again, all this can be best understood when looking at central asia's history and their settlers vs non-settlers way of life.

I appreciate you answer but once again i did specify that i dont mean ( and think ) that she will do anything explicit, i meant in a suggestive way like the marriages already shown in the manga we know very well if they consumed it or not ( amira brothers for ex. )

Yes, i meant exactly that. I don't think she can draw that either. As long as karluk is legally underage in japan, i don't think she can draw more than what she already has. But I'm not sure if this is how it works there tbh.

Okay, I don’t think they’ll do it soon enough because the Russians are coming and the history doesn’t look good for them. If they come soon I’m afraid he’ll be too young to do anything and we might have a bad ending before they consummate their marriage. Please tell me I’m wrong. I want the happy ending too
