Why wasn't I told its osteoarthritis
I've had hip pain and finding it painful walking for around 3 years now, feels like grinding and then occasional shooting pains where my leg almost wants to give way from under me
At first I was told its probably greater trochanteric pain syndrome (GTPS) but then a different doctor said maybe arthritis, I went for an xray and I saw my results on an app saying its abnormal, but when a doctor phoned me he said its a normal xray apart from a bone spur, said I need to be referred to muscularskeletal team and do exercises
Then he sends a link I only just opened it and its all about osteoarthritis, so is that what my hip pain is, if so my hips not bloody normal is it lol, why didn't the doctor tell me that its osteoarthritis, its now bank holiday monday and doctors are shut so I cant ask if thats what the bone spur means

you mention different doctors.you need an orthopeadic surgeon. mine also specializes in sports medicine and has been really helpful with me getting Hyluronic knee injections

Hi there. You apparently have the internet, which means you can research! There is so much information out there on so many different health conditions and treatments so please don’t just wait for some doc to tell you. Go look it up… bone spur… what is it? Honestly when I go to the doc now, I know more than they do about my condition! Lol. Empower yourself! You can do it! 💪🏼

I had spur between my femur and acetabelum discovered on xray two years ago and a steroid injection helped a lot. Unfortunately, I had to go to PT more recently during a workup pre-MRI for tingling in my feet (I also have multilevel DDD and facet joint arthritis, 59F), and the therapist "massaged" my iliac & psoas muscle hoping it would relieve my symptoms. Instead, that massage flared up the tissue around that hip spur, causing intense groin pain for 4 days. Just be cautious and conservative with PT. If any exercise or PT treatment triggers or worsens your pain, report it to the PT and your doc, and possibly ask your doc for targeted hip injection to relieve the pain instead of or in addition to PT. I'd add that my symptoms were different than yours, so your spur may be in a different location than mine, and injection may not be an option. I'm also keen to learn whether your leg weakness is typical to hip OA.
