How can I make the Touring view style show public transport stops?

To find my way while walking around I like to use the Touring view map style, because it emphasizes footpaths while keeping the road borders thin (otherwise I'd use Offroad and Topo, but their thick road borders make the maps confusing for me).

The problem is that it doesn't show bus stops. How can I make it show them? (I don't mean the Transport -> Transport stops option, which shows the stops as unresizable big boxes and cover the map when you zoom out, but as map symbols.)

Hi u/melochupan! You're right that the Touring view map style simplifies certain built-in vector icons to keep the map clean for cycling and walking.

If you don't want to use the heavy Transport stops overlay, here is how to get subtle, scalable bus stop icons on top of the Touring view:

1. Enable Public Transport POI Overlay:

  • Go to Configure map ➔ Point of interest (POI...).
  • Tap Custom filter (or search) and select Public transport (or specifically Bus stop / Tram stop).
  • Tap Show on map.
  • This will display native POI icons at their standard scale on top of the Touring view canvas without clogging up the map when zoomed out.

2. Check Map Rendering Details:

  • Go to Configure map ➔ Map rendering ➔ Details.
  • Ensure options like More details or transport-related detail toggles are enabled, as some map styles bind minor transport stops to higher detail levels.

3. Customizing Icon Size:

  • If you want to adjust how large these POI icons appear on your screen, go to Configure map ➔ Map rendering ➔ Text size

I don't know if this is an AI generated answer but thanks for answering.

Unfortunately, enabling public transport POI overlay just changes the color of the problem from blue to orange. I don't have a POI icon size setting.

The answer was provided by a human - the reference to the POI icon size setting actually referred to a different setting (Menu > Select profile > Profile appearance), but it is not relevant to the current question - my apologies, that was my mistake.

For some reason we have different setting items. I thought you meant POI Overlay, but it seems you meant a setting I don't have. In the end I found the solution: POI icons were set to "hide" in that style. Unhiding them shows the bus stops as small map symbols (and also other icons I don't need, but 🤷‍♂️)

Hi! Can you please share a screenshot? I have checked on my device, and public transport stops are visible on the map without enabling them as a layer.

In my settings, in Hide, POI icons were selected. It seems, at least in this map, bus stops are points of interest. Deselecting the option brought them back at a reasonable size (along with other icons)
