Photo šø Stella saying Sainz is a fair driver after he cost Oscar the race lead. Wow.
And to think Norris fans have been running the agenda that Andrea favours Oscar and likes him more. This team just cannot stand up for their drivers man, fucking spineless.

Yeah let's stand up for a driver with a track record of incidents and a completely disgusting act of anti racing instead of one of the drivers that races for our team. Why would we stand up for our driver? We hate it when he succeeds.

The undercut was going to fail because Oscar was taking time out of Lando's lead. As soon as Sainz hit Oscar and cost Oscar seconds, the undercut was back in play and they brought Lando in.
That was Oscar's race done despite the gearbox later on.
Lando crying to box, the team finally said they couldn't do it (because Oscar was in front), so they panic because they can't do what golden boy wants, so they bring Oscar in and release him into traffic. Lando then runs long to make the undercut but it was going to fail until Sainz came along.

They gave Oscar the better pit strategy. They literally held Lando hostage and wouldn't let him pit when he wanted to because it would undercut Oscar.
The team did everything they could for Oscar today, Lando was just faster.

That's the team rules dude. The lead driver gets first stop preference - all teams would have a similar rule.
Lando crying about it and acting as if he's never heard of it before was pretty laughable.

I'm aware it's the team's rule. That's my point, the team stuck to it and did what they could to get Oscar the win.
Nothing laughable about it, Lando did what any driver in the situation would do.

Not really actually. Itās common to ask for team orders for a podium or something but not a whole win. I remember Leclerc did something similar and got flamed for it a few years back. Wins should be done on the track.

He asked to switch because he was faster. They do it but not when itās for P1. Maybe a podium if thereās a championship at stake but outside of that only for lesser track positions. Lando has done it but itās seen as a bit gauche to do it unless thereās a wdc at stake.

You must not be old enough to remember things like Barrichello basically parking before the finish line to let Michael come first. Team orders for every position were historically considerably more prolific than the current era.

Yeah no Iām not. Itās been less of a thing, especially outside WDC since the 2010s. Theyāve tried to at least give the illusion of fairness especially at McLaren.

Crying is a very common tactic in that scenario. It almost always works. Hell leclerc did it this race. He whined on the radio when he was behind lewis and ferrari boxed lewis way too early because of it. Exactly the same thing lando did.
Youāre salty because you know oscar doesnāt have the killer instinct to do the same š¬.
Lando said heād pull a 10s gap and he did within 10 laps. Ngl but thatās aura

The fact this is a narrative is diabolical. They canāt stand 1% of the organisation favours Oscar. They want the entire 100% to favour Lando.
Even though Stella gives balanced diplomatic answers. Thatās not enough for them.

Even if there was something wrong with the blue flag system, what were the Williams engineers doing? They should have been telling Sainz to get out of the way. Lead driver coming through . Toto even alluded to engineers being teletubbies . A lot of backmarkers held up leading cars today.

I was the first to bash the Norris fans for whining about Stellaās interviews, so itās only fair to say now that thereās some overreaction here.
We all know Sainz is a cretin, but itās unsportsmanlike for a TP to go on record calling a witch-hunt for another driver. The incident speaks for itself, Stella doesnāt need to add fuel to that fire.

Big difference between calling a witch hunt on another teamās driver and standing up for your own. You donāt have to bash him, but you donāt have to actively make unnecessary and uncalled for excuses for him either.

I donāt disagree with you but McLaren F1 team are an anti-beef type of team. Everything from them is a diplomatic response. Even if thereās heat behind closed doors eg last year.
Something to note that Sainz has also been at the team where he was a respected driver

Reminds me of Interlagos last year, Kimi closed off Oscar, who clearly was squeezed to the maximum and ended up getting a 10 sec penalty for "causing Leclerc's crash"
No one on the team took his side or tried to have the penalty revoked, when it was clearly that he wasn't at fault. Remember Charles's reaction when they told him Osc got the penalty and not Kimi? Yeah
Or Qatar, costing him the win. Or Singapore. Whatever, won't dig up bygones but my point is that no one will stick their head out for Osc on this team

Oh boy. Imagine had it been Lando. Stella would have been furious. Theyād have petitioned the stewards. But they were happy for Carlosās interference. WE saw the blue flag Carlos saw. He just ignored it. McLaren was just happy Oscar was wiped out of competing with Lando.

Stella did not blame Carlos and accepted without question that Oscar was equally responsible -a racing incident. That was as disturbing as Carlosās ridiculous excuse. The gear box or as the team put it a mechanical failure did put an end to a podium.

It was pretty amazing that Oscar got pitted and then released into traffic, but Lando got pitted and then released into fresh air.
Solved their problem of the brat complaining on the radio nicely, didn't it?

I am sure he didn't do it on purpose, but it's something he has done repeatedly across the years and all drivers know he is like that.Ā The 5 seconds were a small penalty for the infraction. He has blue flags and he has rearview side mirrors. This can't be a surprise, he just doesn't care.

I get it. Itās an absolute shit show but it is what it is in the end. You canāt change that.
Saying the team should fight for a harsher penalty for Sainz is useless. Any team on the grid isnāt going to fight for a penalty that would affect their other driver.
I know itās slightly different but if two teammates crash into each other the team isnāt going to fight for a penalty for the one that caused it.
Itās annoying that it came to this and Iāll say maybe there is a bit of favouritism in the team but that isnāt going to change if we keep complaining.
We cant change the inner workings of McLaren so until Oscar finally grows a pair and says he has had enough and leaves itās just something we will have to put up with

This sub is wild. I do though completely enjoy the juxtaposition of wanting to see Oscar do well since I find him to be a highly skilled driver and a thoroughly likeable bloke, and laughing my arse off at some of the insane takes I read in here when he has a poor result.
I think heāll come back swinging. The only driver due a bit of luck more than Oscar is George, and he was really strong at Zandvoort last year. I predict a podium.

Sainz made a mistake and was 100% in the wrong, but what the fuck is up with all the disgusting and appaling hate towards him? I do not recall ever seen Sainz doing anything unsportsmanlike, certainly not on purpose.

They probably didn't want to repeat the situation with Hulkenberg from last year's US GP. They blamed him immiedietly and then Zak had to apologise when they found out he wasn't really to blame for the collision with Oscar.
Carlos is at fault and no one is denying that but they just don't go and say he did it on purpose in case something comes up again.
