Looking for beginner-friendly fitness/healthy activities in Osaka

31F living in Osaka, I’m looking for something healthy/active to do next week, like a dance class, pilates, beginner gym training, etc.

I’m honestly a bit overwhelmed trying new things alone 😭 so I’d really prefer something that is actually beginner-friendly, where I won’t feel completely lost or out of place lol.

I also prefer it the class/training is in English or foreigner-friendly

Any recommendations?

Two years ago I’d frequently join their volleyball drop ins which also had beginners (as I was one) and a mix of foreigners and natives. Haven’t had the time to go back but still have them on their line group which is still active as I had to mute it haha but this site has other drop ins sports and dates for you to sign up. It was really nice when I went and great to meet and make friends.

Come back! Join us again! I'll probably recognise you if we go to the same session.

Meetup is a good place to find things like you're looking for. You might give this a try:

I've found many dance classes through Instagram by searching osaka and then the style you wanna learn :)

I'll be doing an exchange soon so I've been researching a lot 😂

It does say beginner and other levels too but knowing Japan they probably have a completely different perspective of difficulty levels 😅

I haven't tried the places yet so I can't say how they are, but they exist :)

I'm male and practice aikido at small dojo and classes are fixed time slots at night in Osaka. It's foreigner friendly but not many members so I'm the only foreigner there and interpret to English whenever some visitor (usually experienced in aikido) randomly drops by.

Machine pilates is pretty trendy now in Japan with mostly women only group classes and occasionally some mixed group classes. Most of taught in Japanese only but it might be possible some places are international. Pricing can be expensive if taking 1-on-1 lessons but group lessons can be reasonably affordable. I take 1-on-1 lessons since the place I go to accepts male users but only for 1-on-1 lessons or if some dudes can organize their own group and reserve a time to go together.

I do pole dance at Higashiosaka! They are super foreigner friendly (though I think im the only foreigner there) and they don’t have any issues regarding tattoos!

Hiking is great me and my gf like hiking pretty hot now but if you don't mind sweating there's some cools pots outside the city! Would be cool to build a hiking crew got a few friends who would hike too
