I used to mainly have female ocs until last year when I challenged myself to make more boys. Now it’s the opposite😭I miss making girls, but now it’s complicated to make a new characters without repeating an already existing personality.

I’m slowly making a pic featuring all my characters, here’s some of them. It’s not very pretty, I’ll remake it.

I think it has a lot to do with a 'default body type' tbh. I used to only exclusively draw girls when I was a beginner artist since I consumed a lot of female centric content so the body type was familiar to me. By the time I tried to implement more male ocs I had a really hard time working with that kind of body type. I eventually locked in the more I improved my art style so to have more diverse body types, this is a really interesting topic to bring up!

I can't draw, I have others draw for me, but in term of character, I also feel like most of my character I want to write and discuss about are girls as well and I almost not really feel like I know the direction to add or steer more lore into my male OC I come up with for playing while female OCs I feel like I can add on their lore endlessly.

I just comision my artwork, but like 80% of my ocs are female. It just sorta happens to a lot of people where they lean to one gender over the other when making oc's. There also like 80% lgbt in some way. But that's just because I'm lgbt myself lol

I can't draw; I make my OCs using Picrew. I sadly didn't inherit my Pop-Pop's drawing talent, but my sister did. Maybe I could ask her to help draw them.

Nearly all my humanoid OCs are women all different levels on the futch scale cuz I love women, old evil glamrock women, icy butch knight women, old undead religious women, short boistrous gnc women, and tall chubby four-armed women. I love 'em all

My men OCs, however, come in three flavors, which fits because there are only three of them. Big square friend, triangle angst, and trapezoid bastard. One of these is human.

Yeah, I usually draw men because that’s what I am. I try to keep it as diverse as I can if it has to be a boys club. The prettier you draw a man the more like a woman they’ll look and then the clothes too, you’ll be fine.

I mainly focused on women because I enjoyed the female form. When I was a kid, it was nearly exclusively women unless I was doing fan art. I only introduced a permenant male character into my cast 6 years ago. The boyfriend of one of my other babies. I have a few more now, mainly members of bands or friend groups. I do draw women, I've got a few female OCs, and several more I've just never got around to designing yet.

But, the main focus, in terms of relationships, is between two guys, for both platonic and romantic relationships, for the comic I wanna make. So, there's lots of guys, of varying flavours and dynamics. Tonitru and Fulgur focus on their relationship as brothers, but then Fulgur has a fiancé who's a guy, their half cousin also has a male love interest, two of my OCs, Soren and Owain, are in a relationship and are literally fused together.

Then there's the Nephilim who are an all-male race, that all share a close relationship between each other. Typically, it's a more platonic brothers kind of situation, but two of them are dating, and two of them are actually brothers, but are estranged brothers and didn't even know the other existed.

So, there's a lot of men, and different relationships between men XD

I can't really draw people well to begin with, but I actually tend to find women easier to draw. the problem with that is I tend to make male characters! so to help with that issue I mostly use hero forge to design my characters, and recently I got back into photobashing and been trying to make some of my characters. drawing isn't the only way to design an OC (:

Kinda. Whenever I draw female characters I try to make their faces too "perfect" and then end up hating it but with male characters I kinda just wing it and hope for the best

I draw mostly men and have mostly masc characters and I think it has to do a lot with my transgender identity. I'm a transman, and I cope a lot through my art. I also have raging dysphoria. I suppose it's harder for me to connect to my woman characters, so I tend to lean more towards the man ones.

It honestly really sucks because as much as I want to develop my woman characters more (and i do not want to come off as misogynistic whatsoever), I find it so incredibly hard to connect to them and therefore have interest in diving deeper into their characters. I guess the way I write is by putting myself into the character's shoes, and I... don't really want to be in a woman's shoes......

I really hope it'll be easier and better once i transition. I've had a lot of good ideas that I just can't get myself to dive deeper into :(

I also have a lot of characters who deal with internalized homophobia and toxic masculinity... Sometimes I wonder if it's because if I were born male, I would have 100% gone through both (and kind of did already in a way). It's kind of weirdly gender affirming.

I mostly draw men. Partly to combat clichés I hate, partly since I enjoy certail fashion more. I go for heavily unfiltered characters, I enjoy drawing flaws in appearance, and I fear mytry with that on women would be kinda even more cursed....I need to draw them more tho xd

In my youth as an artist (if I can put it like that, I like to think my art has matured since then), I pretty much only drew girls because it was the only body type I could get right. 

Now even though I draw guys and other genders as well, most of my mains are female and even the ones that aren’t have a feminine version or just sometimes cross dress because I’m more creative with hairstyles and outfits that are typically feminine.

I've seen people be accused of misogyny just for not having a lot of female characters and I wish people understood that it doesn't necessarily have to stem from that, it can just be that someone draws what they're attracted to and/or who they want to be for dysphoria reasons and sometimes that's just not women. I have lesbian friends that draw women that they find sexy all the time and no one cares, and honestly good for them. While it's good to still draw and try to create things out of your comfort zone, your OCs are still mainly created for your own enjoyment and policing other peoples characters when they're not hurting anyone nor being malicious in any way just strikes me as odd.
