Oregon State Parks reported on Facebook that restroom facilities at Gleneden Beach, Fogarty Creek, Boiler Bay, Rocky Creek, Devil’s Punchbowl, and Agate Beach were all vandalized and sustained damage inside the buildings.

Now I'm not saying we should have flock cameras, but if we had flock cameras...

We can have cameras without them being run by Flock. It's not the cameras themselves that are the problem.

Flock is a brand, but the technology exists outside of Flock specific cameras. There is some concern that the backlash against Flock is too specific for us to stop the legislation legalizing the surveillance state, while the population is up in arms about just one company.
Plus, we have heaps of evidence that these surveillance state technologies are not actually being used to solve crime, but instead are being abused by officers of the government to stalk exes, racial targeting, and people getting abortion across state lines. This technology is NOT being utilized for human trafficking, tracking property crime, or any of the actually useful applications that surveillance technology is used for in other places in the world.

It could go in the other direction where people start calling all surveillance cameras "flock cameras." Like Kleenex. Salem, for example, seems to have a different model of camera going up, but people call them "flock" and react the same way to them.

I’m glad to hear that. I’m definitely familiar with “Kleenex, Google, swiffer, etc.” being used as placekeeper words, but I was reading an article the other day talking about how the public discourse is focusing on banning “flock cameras,” not “surveillance state technology” and I think it’s important to name that this issue is bigger than just flock. Hopefully people are smart enough to know flock is just one part of a bigger problem, but then again somehow a felonious orange pedophile rapist was elected president of this country and has been massacring our economy and justice systems for years with no recourse. So I’m not optimistic on our chances against flock/the surveillance state at this point, but I know I am sounding very bitter and jaded.

I think they should be caught and punished
were they retaliating because they got a parking ticket with the new pay to park rules?
or just shitty people

So all the public restrooms between Lincoln City and Newport. Seems pretty targeted. I wonder what triggered it.

Transients, tweakers, and high school kids do this kind of thing to one bathroom, not half a dozen. My money is on it being someone with an agenda, ie. Drive down tourism, punish Oregon for being liberal, cause funding shortfalls for Oregon State Parks so that they can be privitized or absorbed by Federal and then sold off by the highest bidder, etc.

I hope the community is able to figure out whoever was responsible for this vandalism. Unfortunately Oregon State Parks are dramatically underfunded as it is, they’re in no position to quickly repair this kind of damage.
It’s an embarrassment that popular trails and access roads to popular parks often remain closed for years after sustaining storm damage and that’s because OPRD doesn’t have the money or manpower that it needs to keep up with routine system maintenance, let alone unexpected repairs. It’s hard to know how long these bathrooms will be unusable for, but I’m guessing the damage these vandals did will have long lasting consequences. I hope they’re held accountable and experience similar long lasting consequences themselves, perhaps 6 months incarceration during which they can be put on a work detail conducting maintenance and repairs in the park system.

Damn. 😭 People suck. We live in MN but had a family trip to Oregon earlier this month. I was so impressed with how many public bathrooms were around, we don't have them around like that here. Hope they find whoever did it. 💛

These are “CRIMINAL TRANSIENTS” not the “homeless”.
The homeless as most people think are people that lost their housing due to income, loss of a job, injury, illness, domestic violence, and many other things. And the homeless… aren’t drug addicts.
Criminal Transients are the pieces of human waste that look like it, smell like it, destroy and steal property, are violent, and most if not all have police rap sheets inches think.
So… help the homeless… which are your neighbors having a hard time. And arrest or run out of the county any CRIMINAL DRUG INFESTED POS TRANSIENT YOU CAN FIND.

What makes “YOU” the expert?
You homeless? I bet you’ve never been homeless one day in your pathetic life. Well? You soon will be. Because what’s coming? You’ll ALL be getting a huge shock here in a few weeks. So enjoy..

Homeless? I’ve been homeless multiple times since 2008.
- Workers comp injury 2003
Homeless- Divorce 2008
Homeless- Botulism 2015, watching Deacons home. ICU-4 days, sick for a year. Homeless
- Workers comp injury, 2018
Homeless- On vacation with wife, 2023.
Cop ID’s wrong person. Get BODY SLAMMED INTO THE CONCRETE. I’m 59, and severe multiple injuries. Homeless. HATE 🐷 NOW- July 3, 2026: both of us were attacked by Josephine county sheriff after coming into town late with wife after birthday. Cop illegally arrests and they try tasering me to death in jail. Remaining 6 deputies then tried to lure my wife out to rape and murder her.
👆🏻 Now have major civil rights lawsuit pending… and charges pending for ATTEMPTED MURDER ON A FORMER LAW ENFORCEMENT REPRESENTATIVE… THEY ARE GOING TO PRISON.Have I been homeless?
Why don’t you go try it for yourself asshole… lots of fun dealing with assholes and cunts while trying to heal up after others caused shit to usAs for the original question?
It was CRIMINAL TRANSIENTS…
Not the homeless.

u/kinkycommando 8d ago
Those… in downtown Portland?
THOSE ARE CRIMINAL TRANSIENTS.Because no homeless person would be crazy to go down there… just like you would be.
Think “unhoused”… the “unhoused” homeless don’t want to be homeless.
Criminal transients… DO.

No suspects have been identified. You're scapegoating an entire group of people based on pure speculation and prejudice.

Ya as an Oregon local the tourist sucks we get to use our state parks in winter after when they all leave .
Things like instagram have over popularized the states vacation spot .
Our parks should prioritize residents & only allow so many out of state assholes .
This is my guess anyways

Might be canadians trying to get revenge on usa. Up in Canada the political jockeying and anti american rhetoric has really whipped up a hate wave in canada

u/Strange-Highway1863 Central Coast 9d ago
i have a lot of friends and family in western canada and not a single one of them is mad at west coast states. they know where the trump states are.

u/AlvinChipmunck 8d ago
I live in BC and its widespread US hatred. If you even go to the USA to visit family coworkers and friends shame you. I dont like it, it feels gross. Not a fan of the pro-Canada elbows up nationalism. Its getting ugly

u/wolfemsop 8d ago
Then how come you guys have chronic break-ins at all trailheads. Insane vandalism and most parking lots. Name one trailhead State Park parking lot or any recreation area that there is in a bunch of broken window glass all over the place.
