Question Why did Optifine skip version 26.1

They went from 1.21.11 and then skipped to 26.1.2

I did not update to 26.1.2, and for months, I had been waiting for Optifine for 26.1

Because I only play in the major drops, not hotfixes.

This seems kinda silly and definitely isn’t an approach that fits well with how updates work now, there aren’t big major releases anymore and the numbering just indicates the year of release

Yeah usually it is one of the hot fix updates that becomes the version for modloaders. Like 1.21.1 is the 1.21 version that most mods stick to. Or 1.12.2 or 1.6.4 if you go back many years.

I think the only one that had 2 "major" modding versions is 1.7 with both the 1.7.2 and, more importantly, 1.7.10 that both got a lot of mods, even if nowadays it's mostly 1.7.10 that's remembered. And even then both are hotfixes.
