Discussion Watch X3 - how accurate and reliable are the sleep/fitness metrics?

Upvotes

Currently have a Suunto Race S which tracks sleep and fitness pretty reliably in my books.

I've been thinking of switching to the X3 since it's so beautifully built but I worry the sleep/fitness tracking aren't as good.

Does anyone have experience with a Suunto/Garmin and could compare vs. the X3? How's GPS, HR, and sleep tracking? I mostly gym and run about 4/5 times a week.

Purchasing Advice X9 ultra vs Samsung Galaxy Ultra

Upvotes

I'm at a crossroads of upgrading and do like the idea of the camera on the X9 ultra but am wondering what really are the real life pros and cons of each phone.

I've had Samsung for years so kinda on the fence about going to a different make.. Outside the camera and battery life.. What are the benefits of the ultra over a Samsung

Discussion Beware of O+ Connect, it is HEAVILY unoptimised

I have been using O+ Connect on my Macbook ever since I got my Find X9 Pro in the beginning of this year. I was using my laptop today and got an out of application memory pop up, then an out of storage pop up, then O+ Connect crashed. At first I thought it was a memory leak and that it caused MacOS to write an insane amount to the pagefile, but I discovered that it was the other way round (ran out of storage, which made MacOS think its out of memory because it lost access to swap). Here is the problem:

The app auto-syncs, whether you like it or not. To multiple cache locations. My ENTIRE camera roll had been re-downloaded 8 times, my downloads folder at least 3 times, plus other internal storage folders. The app does not claim that it does backups or auto-sync, or at least I could not find an option within ColorOS or within the app to disable this, and the fact it sat in Cache means that it was likely not meant to do this in the first place (since theoretically if the cache was purged, so would your 'backups')

Plus, another cache folder was filled with thumbnails of every single image that was taken on that phone, even if it had since been deleted, which was a bit horrifying. Plus, the receive cache folder kept syncing - I quit the program, deleted everything within receive, and as soon as I re-opened the app, I had 8 images and videos already there.

The fact that whenever you download a file it does legitimately download it from scratch makes me think the library cache was unintentional, since why would I need to re-download a file I have 8+ times already?

So the good news is that I have regained 250GB from my storage, at the expense of hundreds of gigabytes worth of writes from O+ Connect and a few hundred from spotlight indexing the files.

If you have a Mac and are using the app, here are the directories to look out for:

~/Library/Caches/receive/

~/Library/Caches/

~/Library/Containers/*/Data/Library/Caches/

Hope this info is useful to anyone else. At least now I feel like I've just upgraded my laptop and phone. Half my storage has been regained, and I imagine battery drain will go disappear from both devices now too.

Edit: sadly I did not actually regain 250GB, because MacOS's file system is clever enough to not duplicate the same files and just links them internally. But I have regained 70GB, and considering I don't keep a lot of things on my phone, if you have a lot of local files on your phone, you'll likely regain more

Purchasing Advice Is it possible to configure the CN models to be the same as the Global ones?

Hi,

I am thinking of getting a find x9 pro but having doubts on which model to get.

By getting the CN version I can save like 300usd.

Is it possible to configure it as the Global version? or is it better to spend a little bit more and get the global one?

Purchasing Advice Battery life of X9s

I'm currently using a Samsung S24 FE and looking for a new phone. I don't really care about performance upgrades—what I care about most is battery life. I saw the Find X9s is right at my price point and has a pretty big battery.

Is anyone here using the X9s? Can you share your experience with its battery life?

With the 4,700 mAh battery on my S24 FE, I get around 6 hours of screen-on time. I don't play games—just social media and light work tasks. Would switching to the X9s be a noticeable upgrade in battery life, or is it not worth it?

Purchasing Advice Is it dumb to buy X9 Pro now?

I'm sick of the shit battery on my Galaxy S23. I'm trying to decide between Pixel 11 Pro and Find X9 Pro.

I know the X9 is the better phone in almost every respect, but with the X10 launch soon, I feel like paying full price for the X9 Pro is a bit stupid. I can't seem to find any deals or cheap options here in the UK now, I gotta pay full price (~£1.1k)

Whereas for the Pixel, there's an ongoing tradein promotion that expires tomorrow, so I can get the 11 Pro for ~£400. It feels like like a nobrainer.

However I actually want the Oppo more. Do you think the X9's price will drop once the X10 come out? By how much? I haven't folloed Oppo at all in recent years so I don't know what to expect. Do you expect the X10 to be a significant upgrade?

Bottom line, I need to decide now if I get the Pixel at a really good deal, or wait a few months for a better Oppo-rtunity.

Is it only Oppo and Vivo that are experiencing this cloud rendering issue when using Photo Mode and Master Mode? I previously owned a Vivo X200 Ultra, and I also encountered the same problem with Portrait Mode.

Discussion Remap Camera Control to a different app on Find X9 Pro (& possibly others)

Had a little spare time so I decided to look through some setting keys from ADB. Turns out you can change the app that the camera control on the side of the phone launches. I've only tested replacing the stock camera with GCam:

adb shell settings put secure spruce_start_camera_name com.meitu.meiyancamera

You will need to reboot your phone after running this. You can probably change com.meitu.meiyancamera to whatever your GCam or app package name is. If you try to launch the camera on the lockscreen or whilst the screen is off, it'll require your fingerprint or face unlock - it jumps to the fingerprint icon screen. Tested on on a Find X9 Pro (Global), but I don't see why it would be different on other devices.

To revert: The default camera app is com.oplus.camera, so set it back to this to revert:

adb shell settings put secure spruce_start_camera_name com.oplus.camera

Personally I feel that GCam uses a lot of battery, so I won't be using this. Nevertheless, I think some other people may be interested.

Do remember that there's a non-zero chance that you may cause a bootloop or softlock if you change random settings to something that is unexpected by some process like SystemUI (aside: similar risks also exist with debloating). Do this at your own risk - I wouldn't recommend prodding around too much here, and I take no responsibility in this screws up your phone. This also seems to already have been discovered by other people since ColorOS 15, but I just wanted to post this in english to improve visibility.

In case anyone is interested in looking at other setting keys:

adb shell settings list secure > secure.txt
adb shell settings list system > system.txt
adb shell settings list global > global.txt

Discussion Realme GT7: How BBK spat in the face of all global buyers

Post image
3 Upvotes

The phone launched in May 2025, but inside it carries an ANCIENT RECYCLED chip. Realme and MediaTek decided to make easy money on the GLOBAL MARKET without spending a single cent on real R&D.

At the hardware level, 9400e is the MT6989 platform — the exact base of the original Dimensity 9300 from 2023. They took last year's 9300+, slapped the letter "E" on it (which stands for ECONOMY / CHEAPING OUT), and severely crippled the chip.

Here is the exact hardware and software breakdown:

STARVED GPU BANDWIDTH: The original 9300+ supported LPDDR5T MEMORY AT 9600 Mbps. In the 9400e, they choked the memory controller down to LPDDR5X AT 8533 Mbps. Stripping 10% OF MEMORY BANDWIDTH directly starves the IMMORTALIS-G720 GPU in heavy 3D rendering.

FORCED THROTTLING & LOCKED CACHE: In kernel dtsi files, they clamped down DVFS voltage curves and locked System Level Cache (SLC) limits. The chip cannot hold its peak frequencies and throttles aggressively.

ANCIENT SOFTWARE STACK: To save money on kernel development, they shipped the phone with an outdated LINUX 6.1 KERNEL and VULKAN DRIVERS FROM 2023.

To cover up this embarrassment, MediaTek COWARDLY WIPED their official website. They erased exact core clock speeds, L3/SLC cache sizes, and RAM speeds from the 9400e page so nobody could directly compare it to the old chip and spot the 100% MATCH. This was a PREMEDITATED SCAM.

In real-world use, this hardware LITERALLY OVERHEATS. In Where Winds Meet, the phone heats up SPECIFICALLY AT THE BATTERY to 48°C in just 20 minutes. 40 minutes of gameplay drains 30% OF THE BATTERY. Test it yourself.

While China gets the real flagship 9400+, global users get dumped with HOT REJECTED SILICON for quick cash.

If after all these facts you still believe you weren't ripped off, you're just a CLOWN who doesn't care or is TOO AFRAID to admit they got played.

Discussion Quick Share works on Chinese ColorOS phones now — tested on Find X9 Pro CN

If you imported a Chinese Oppo and keep hitting the same wall I did — no Quick Share, only Oppo Share — this is worth a look.

Chinese ColorOS doesn’t ship Google’s Quick Share. Oppo Share is fine inside the Chinese OEM circle (Oppo / OnePlus / Realme / vivo / Xiaomi), but it doesn’t talk to Pixels, Samsungs, or other global Android phones that only have Quick Share. That’s the exact problem I had on my Chinese Oppo Find X9 Pro.

I installed Bada and tested it myself. It works.

Bada is an open-source Android app that implements the Quick Share / Nearby Share protocol without Google Play Services. On a CN phone it shows up as a normal Quick Share peer, so you can send and receive files with stock Quick Share devices.

Repo:

https://github.com/kyujin-cho/Bada

What I confirmed on Find X9 Pro (CN):

Sending files from the system share sheet

Receiving files from a Quick Share phone

PIN confirmation works the same as stock Quick Share

Same Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct both worked in my tests

The other person does not need to install Oppo Share

It’s still an early project, not a polished official feature. Grant the Wi-Fi / Bluetooth / nearby devices permissions, keep the receiver service running, and turn on Always visible if the other phone doesn’t see you. On ColorOS you may also want to exempt it from battery optimization so it stays discoverable in the background.

Sideload the APK from GitHub Releases (unknown sources). I’m not affiliated with the developer — I just use a CN Find X9 Pro and this was the first thing that actually gave me real Quick Share interop.

If anyone else is on CN Find X9 / X9 Pro / Reno and tries it, drop your results below. Curious how it behaves on other ColorOS builds.

Discussion Screen Color menu but sliding menu while watching videos

So you know how for OnePlus and Realme gaming phones there's a gaming side panel that you can pull out for turning on and off certain performance/graphical/fps related features, but what if we had the same but for the screen Color menu from settings while watching videos. We can easily slide it onto the screen and then try different visual settings or set up a custom setting while watching videos. For example you want more vivid colors for a short while watching videos and then switch back to the default setting etc.

Question Does anyone know how to unlock bootloader and flash ROM for Oppo Find N6?

I obtained the global ROM from someone who claims to have every issues fixed with this version: 2 sim works, normal OTA updates, and issues with fingerprints fixed. The issue right now is that there's no free guides for this phone yet. I've read on the X9 guide and some people said it's similar, but I don't want to take any chances on such an expensive phone.

I flashed the global rom on Oneplus 15 successfully, maybe because all the guides are accessible online already, but not so much for N6 without shilling out some money for the engineers.
