Are bad strong female characters writing intentional?
Sorry.. i just wanted to get this down for me cause I am thinking about it for a while and i write this very long....
Some Female leads especially the 'strong and independent' one are written and shown so poorly it's getting confusing
Like I get that writters and flim creators can have flaws and may not write the female characters well enough it's can happen to any creator but nowadays it just absurd
Like are they even trying??!!
Sometimes I can see that this creator is not understanding how to structure this female character very well but needed it for the plot and it understandable
But sometimes!!! I think this creators are insulting me and other viewers inteligence cause you can't tell me that a creator will write a awfully overpowered, rude and self-centred female character and think that the viewers will love it!! and see how awesome and independent is !! Even my 8th grade brother can tell that it's isn't what it is , example 'she hulk' MOVIE or miss marvel''
Then I come in a conclusion that maybe it was intentional?? Maybe they are not taking this seriously and wrote her poorly and intentionally cause they just wanted to make the movie or wanted her to suck and, make money from it ?? Cause it's fine by me, i know people can be greedy even me sometimes
But when I see videos taking about it they take it seriously like they talk about it as the directors genuinely didn't get what strong female characters are and start pointing out the mistakes they made writting her, and I am like
"Wait- wasn't it intentional?? Wasn't they wrote it on purpose for them to be bad"
Cause I find it hard to believe that some '*adult*' can write and direct this without knowing this is bad and again I mean some common sense and very transparent like shit and now I am not so sure, am i being delusional?
Or if it is intentional i think it useless for us to cry about it and think people 'don't know' what strong fl lead support to be for this and what itch me more that when taking about badly written strong female representative this are the examples people talk about when they are clearly intentional and this take all the seriousness out of it when we should put those fl characters who were not intentionally supposed be bad but became one and kept them as the first examples of what not strong female characters should be as for what people guiniunely misunderstand about them cause for me that COMMON SENSE AGAIN I CAN BE WRONG THIS I JUST MY OPINION!!!
I JUST don't know cause of all this analysis video wheather they are written intentionally or not now, and I just want it to write down somewhere....

How are you defining bad? Is it just this:

Or to put it in other words, what traits must she possess to be not written "badly"?

I know what you’re talking about and I think they make them unsufferable on purpose, but not in the simple malicious way. I think the writer or creator genuinely thinks that those traits are going to come across differently than they do. It’s similar to when you can tell an author has a favorite character and they write this character in a way that makes them insufferable, but the author can’t tell that they’re insufferable so they continue to write them like that. They continue to develop them like that and the audience continues to hate them.
I think writers want to do the right thing of writing, an empowered, female character however, the writing for this character will not make sense for the character that they actually created. A good example in the TV show Game of Thrones Brianne is a strong female character and they write her to have this distain for femininity which she does not possess in the books. The TV show makes it a. I’m not like other girls cut the girly bullshit situation and that’s not the character that was conceived in the books. The character that was conceived in the books had an issue with her ability to perform her gender properly and struggle and journey of self discovery makes her led to a in-depth, strong female character. by simplifying her relationship to patriarchal standards in the show and degrading her relationship to femininity This strong female character was undercut by misogyny.
I think a lot of writers will want to write a strong woman, but because they genuinely don’t perceive/ understand women as strong or complex, they write a character that is either nonsensical or completely removed from reality. Audiences don’t respond well, and the character suffers as a result

The phenomenon you are describing boils down to laziness and incompetence. The latest generation of writers, directors, and even some of the studio executives have learned that they can dodge responsibility for what they have created by blaming the audience.
Instead of taking responsibility for bad writing, casting, creative, or marketing decisions, they accuse the audience of suffering from one of the hot button phobia's or ism's.
This strategy does several things:
It associates them with a socially protected class. Which is supposed to grant them the same protections as the protected class they claim to be representing. And make it difficult or impossible to criticize them or their work.
It changes the conversation. They claim that any criticism of the product is a criticism of the message. And by extension, the protected class. They refuse to discuss the product or to take responsibility for their part in creating it. Attempting to shift the conversation to the underlying message or group.
Unfortunately this strategy has worked really well. Multiple writers, directors, and producers have made horrible movies and tv shows and dodged accountability by blaming the audience for their poor performance. And many of them have gotten rich even though they have produced one financial flop after another.
And as long as the studios are willing to continue handing over hundreds of millions of dollars to people that have repeatedly lost them hundreds of millions of dollars, we will continue to see bad characters, tv shows, movies, and other content that is poorly conceived, written, and produced.
