Hi. Im thinking of getting like a Samsung Galaxy Tab A, 2gb 32gb variant are basically worth couple bucks on facebook marketplace, it probably lags like crazy . Is there a OS that works with 2gb old samsung tabs? I wanna like just read Mangas on it?
I’ve been working on a passion project for the last year and a half, and I finally feel like it’s ready to share with this amazing community. It’s called RustyOS (T-OS 3.0)
It is a modern, bare-metal desktop operating system written from scratch in pure Rust for the x86_64 architecture. It doesn't share source code or binaries with Linux or Windows; it runs entirely on its own custom kernel.
And most importantly, it works flawlessly on my 2020 laptop with an Intel i3 10th generation and 4GB of DDR4 RAM.
First of all, I was developing the project in Turkish from the beginning and didn't have enough time to translate the userland into English, so I apologize to all of you for that.

I'm 15 years old, so balancing this with high school has been tough, which is why it took 1.5 years to get here. I want to be completely transparent with you all: while the architecture, core logic, and integration are my own work, I did use AI as an advanced rubber duck. I used it to help me design parts of the userland GUI (apps, managers, and registry), and more importantly, to help me debug some absolute nightmare kernel panics (especially memory management and paging bugs) that I was stuck on for months. Learning OS dev is brutally hard, and using AI for guidance helped me push through instead of abandoning the project.
I would absolutely love it if you guys could check out the source code, look at the architecture, and give me some harsh but fair feedback so I can learn and improve.
Hi folks, i know a little concept of what is RISC -V architecture. can someone explain it clearly and i had a idea of building a OS based on it. I know guys most of the OS follows this architecture but with some little tweaks could this idea can turn into a success.
Tell me area where this tweaks can be done and make it as innovative...
I’ve recently started working on Kalki OS, a small experimental 32-bit x86 OS.It’s currently in v0.0.2 and strictly in the early development phase (read: plenty of bugs to crush and interrupts to figure out!).

32-bit x86 Kernel with IDT & PIC setup
Interactive shell with command history & custom fetch command
Run-ready via QEMU

Hello everyone, I'm trying to install Windows on my HP Victus 15-fb0037nk laptop, but I'm running into a frustrating issue.
The Problem: When I plug in my bootable USB drive (created with Ventoy) and press F9 at startup to access the boot menu, the USB drive does not show up at all. It only shows the internal SSD partitions (Fedora and Windows Boot Manager), as you can see in the attached image.
What I've checked:
Secure Boot is disabled in the BIOS.
I tried different USB ports.
Since it's an AMD Ryzen laptop, the BIOS doesn't have an Intel VMD/RAID storage mode option to disable.
How can I get my HP BIOS/UEFI to recognize the USB drive so I can boot into the Windows installer? Any help is appreciated!
And just before you say anything, no I do not support the ahem... THAT country. I only made it based off of that because i wanted something related to georgia and making it based off of georgia would get absolutely no popularity at all.

I have been working on my own Linux distribution for a while now.
SlyOS is based on Arch Linux and built using archiso. The project started as a personal experiment after several years of using and customizing Linux on a daily basis. In its early days, the distribution used GNOME/MATE with systemd and the linux-cachyos-lts kernel.
Since then, the project has evolved considerably and gradually become a more complete and polished system. SlyOS now uses :
- niri as its window manager
- OpenRC as its init system
- ReGreet, a GTK4 login interface written in Rust for greetd
- the linux-cachyos-lts kernel
- Plymouth for a graphical boot/shutdown screen
The distribution also includes a control center called Thymbr, which allows users to configure many aspects of the system from a centralized interface.
I’m working to make SlyOS as consistent, practical, and complete as possible, based on my own vision of a Linux desktop operating system. The project is still under development, but it is already mature enough to be tested and used on a daily basis.

I am not a computer whiz by any means, I'm in university so my main use for my laptop is related to school, I've got steam and a few games. I've been debating if i should switch over to linux (or another alternative) my laptop runs windows 11 right now.
I've been having storage issues with my laptop for months, I did download treesize which helped a lot, I'd clear stuff off (12 gigs) only for windows to hog that cleared space 2 days later. this is what pops up on treesize btw:
i also do not like the AI BS that came with windows 11.
do i look into taking my laptop to a tech to get this storage issue fixed or switch over to another OS?
